Nothing Phone 2 or Pixel7? Also, if you enjoyed the video feel free to like and subscribe. Thank you for your time!
The video felt extremely biased. You talk about how the nothing phone has great software, a better display, faster charging, longer battery life and then you downplay all of those benefits every moment you get and say "the screen is basically the same" when talking about the pixel.
A preference is fine, but such a clear bias is distasteful. I like all of your videos, except for this one. A big no.
I know it'd be pretty unfair, but I wanna see a comparison between the Nothing Phone (2) and the ASUS Zenfone 10. The only thing they have in common though is that they're online exclusives, so buying them from a major carrier is out of the question.
Pixel 7 because the camera
Camera samples in daytime, looks better on Nothing Phone 2. They have deep and tasty colors, not pale like on Pixel with it`s HDR processing. I like more darker shadows too, because photo looks more natural and interesting
Pixel 7 better build quality better cameras better software and Google you can trust about the updates I can't say the same about nothing it's a new company and the update for the nothing one comes really late so yeah
Been using a Pixel 7 Pro caseless since launch 😌, good to know i have balls of steel
Idk how when that phone is slippery af.
No you don’t everybody uses it caseless
I was like you once..but then Kids happened! 🤌
I generally grow some after 2-3 years of buying a phone. Been using OnePlus 5 without a case after 4 years of buying it. Still using it for last 2 years without a case. I guess I grew another ball in this process.
That must be heavy and painful.
The battery difference is BIG, not just "a bit more battery". And the raw chip performance: Tensor 2 is at least 20% behind SD8 gen 1+. The screen on NP2 way better. So the only reason to get the Pixel is if you want the top camera experience.
And the pixel's software

You can pick up a Pixel 7 for cheaper than the Nothing Phone 2 in the UK. Better cameras and longer OS and security update support makes the Pixel 7 a no brainer for me
Pixel 7 does not have longer OS support…it has 3 year guarantee and it came out last year
Longer OS support on the Pixel 7 end is a lie. Nothing Phone 2 has more on its end.
@@davidborovsky2877 "3 years" means that it will receive 3 android versions after it comes out, they both came out with android 13 so do the math
@@ABEiiiKU dude don't you know pixel gets new os update the same day it releases? While nothing gets it 2-3 months after its out and also you can see how it released with Android 13 when 14 is just around the corner. That's how pixels get longer support than nothing and also 5 yrs security
Yep! I bought a sealed Pixel 7 (256GB) for £470 a few days ago (they had a pro already) and you could probably find a 128GB for under that amount. So for anyone out there, a Pixel 7 is still a better option under £500 if you find one. Cheers!
I've admired the look of the Pixel 7 line since its release, and the other features cinch the deal. I would choose it over the Nothing Phone.
Pixel 7 is priced at $499 now at the Google Store.

As someone who always uses a tempered glass screen protector and likes to use my phone caseless at home, I set my phone on the front all the time. Love the design and don't care for the lights but I can imagine their utility sometimes. Def not a reason to get it tho.
Merry Xmas Matthew. Thanks for all your video's again this year. Big love, kindest regards, Richard U.K
How do you have pitch black theme on Pixel?
The question is, what's the nothing's camera like with a gcam mod?

I’ve been waiting for this comparison! Thanks Matt!
I feel from an soc point of view the Nothing phone will hold up better over it's update cycle. Nice review.
Great review mate! Just one thing i had to say, the Pixel 7 Pro has the same sound when you tap it on the back.
Whatever photos I have seen over the several reviews out today, the camera on the Nothing is nice. It is getting overshadowed in this comparison with the Pixel 7, which is the best. I think updates (and using more professional camera apps) can work their magic because the hardware is there.
I will happily pick the Phone (2) because it is fun and exciting. It is not another brick in the wall. I am sick and tired of boring looking, boring feeling phones. The industrial design on the Nothing seems to be amazing. And I really like the customizability of the UI.
Yeah that's exactly how I feel. I think a couple updates the camera will be very good, even tho it'll definitely get the job done for my needs.
I agree 100%
Agree with you sir for me nothing offer for most avarage user …. Some say you can get and old iphone that still work like a champ but nor to mention iphone also got slower over the year but it depends on personal preferences .. for me as tech geek i love what nothing offer cant wait to get this soon
Yeah Carl says already in his new reaction video that he will improve the camera with updates for sure.
No the camera is really just average
I don't think someone will buy nothing phone 2 for glyph system..it is overall a great package as compared to pixel 7 and only thing in which nothing falls behind is the camera which can be improved via software update

Something you have to consider when you are giving a conclusion to any review is talking about how the phone and its processor is capable to give when it comes to gaming.
I know it might not be important for all the audience but certainly is important for a part of it and it's necessary to mention that the SD8+1 is way superior to Tensor 2nd gen for gaming processing, I saw you talking about cameras, battery life, screen brightness/color, but never about game performance
The nothing 2 has a better screen, waay better performance and chipset, doesn't have overheating issues, doesnt have modem issues, neither doesn't it have quality control issues nor battery life problems. The only thing the pixel has on its name is it's photos ability and software support and features.
Agreed . I've seen both phones in the flesh . Much prefer the nothing 2 display as it appears richer . The pixel 7 display appeared to be lacking in the brightness department, plus it appeared a bit brown and muddy looking, like it had a brown /beige haze over the screen
How many phones did the first shot take?
Would getting the S22+ be a better option than the Nothing phone 2? They're around the same price here.
I would personally get an S22+ over the NP2 despite the Galaxy lacking in things like battery capacity and not 8+ gen 1. But it has a 3x telephoto, reaching Android 16 and I mean... it's a Samsung
will be nice if they use the ligths too as a clock will be really usefull
How is the nothing phone 2 camera when compared to someone upgrading from iPhone 11
i am confused which one to buy between Pixel 7 pro ( 8gb, 128 gb) model vs Nothing 2 ( 12 gb, 256 gb) on similar price range with Nothing 2 $50 cheaper?
Thanks
Same situation here, I am really confused too, kinda leaning towards the phone 2 rn as camera is not a big deal for me but i really like the design of both. If the phone 2 was just a bit smaller, i wouldnt even think twice.
Everything isn't for everyone. I feel a feature becomes a gimmick if you don't use it. If I didn't experience my Pixel 7 pros 📸 I'd MAYBE think about NP2. I don't like that it looks like an iPhone bc I don't like iPhones 😆.
I don't like that it's as huge as the iPhone pro max, I don't like the square shape of the smartphone, it seems very uncomfortable to me, and the camera is very upset
I've never used a case and also never broken any phone so far. 😂 I'd just sometimes add skins.
Buy the Nothing phone (2) and then install the Gcam mod. Boom! You won't get disappointed with it.
Google camera working in Nothing phone 2 ?
Please tell me.
Now last 3 Years i am using google camera magic in Redmi note 7 pro
.
What if apple puts those led on their phones?? You gonna say its a very useful feature.😅
Would you recommend the Samsung S22+ over these two devices?
I'm team pixel, from pixel 6 pro to pixel 7 pro...np2 is nice, love the lights(can be turned off)... Google has been slipping with their updates!....but cameras are superb on pixel, tho!...oh, i also have the razr plus... camera cant compare with pixel, but its a great pocketable phone!
Me, personally went with the nothing phone 2. I like the glyph system and actually use it. I would have liked to get the better camera, but if I had bought my phone for the camera I would have went with the sony xperia 5 V, which blows every other phone miles wide out the competition. But the better hardware, paired with a still good camera fits pretty good for my use case and ON TOP there is the glyph interface, which i enjoy and use. Finding a case wasnt a big problem either, I went with a frosted matte case that has a slightly pertruding border, so you dont scratch the display if you flip it around. With my big hands it is also no problem concerning the sides.
But as you read thats a pretty individualistic choice, that obviously wouldnt go for everyone.
Can you make a video on Asus Zenfone 10 vs Nothing Phone 2
I have the pixel 7 and love it but I'm still getting the nothing phone 2 because it's freaking beautiful and love the software
Its a nice looking phone that's for sure! Let me know how you like it

Had the Pixel 7 and the Nothing Phone 1 before. The only good bout the Pixel 7 - Great cameras, good size, good software experience (when you dont encounter the bugs), good haptics and button feedback. Bads - poor signal strength, not the best battery life, software can be buggy some times. Nothing Phone 1 was pretty good but I got rid of it ultimately because it was lacking in the performance and camera department. If you want something smaller with great cameras and youre not a heavy user, the Pixel 7. If you want something big, fast, unique with good battery life, Nothing Phone 2. Between this and the Pixel 7 Pro though, I'd go for the Pixel 7 Pro cos theyre about the same size, probably similar software experience, but with much better cameras, and better accessories support. Not to mention you can probably find one on sale or for similar money in the used market.
For me, as much as I want to buy any of Google Pixels phones sadly isn't available in my country. I mean, i could buy it from import but most features that i want is region locked while having to pay for the phone for full price. In this situation I'd probably go for nothing phone. I hate both Samsung and iphones so I won't bother with those two brands
I use a screen protector and no case. Why would you have a case and no screen protector?
Hello, Loved your content .....
Also could you please review it with the Oneplus 12R and Nothing 2, considering the updates from Nothing 2?
What anime was that on the brightness comparison?
So you care a lot about the safety of the back and sides of the phone but not the screen, one of the costliest parts to replace?
My pixel 7 would fry itself I'm just a few minutes of HD recording... I think it's a lottery with those phones. How is the heat dissipation on the nothing?
Surprised that he doesn’t use screen protectors but very sentimental about cases 😅
Both phones take decent pics. Im not a photographer and neither are alotta people here. Personally I preferred the NP2’s shots in a couple of those photos. You are not taking a hit regardless of which phone you pick.
I thought i was the only one noticed that 😅
I'm having 7A on A14 B4, getting screen on time above 7 hours. To pixel owners out there, expect battery improvements on android 14 (unless google doesn't mess it up)
Real talk!
3:48 Pixel clarity but Nothing loudness
4:46 this was probably done keeping software in mind. Notifications use the space in the middle on the lockscreen when you have lockscreen widgets added
6:32 Pixel in both aspects
4:40 this is VERY important point! Thank you for bringing attention on to it!
For camera i will go with pixel 7 and design look os i will go definitely with nothing 2
using that philosophy no brand should stress out about the materials or the coloring technology for their backs because you use case. why stop on LED light why not just ignore the back because you use a case. I personally don't use cases for years and no screen protectors either , I paid money for it I paid money for the design as well as the coating of the screen, I paid money to enjoy it to the fullest.
Pixel heats up, finger print is a nightmare, battery drains pretty fast.

For me the camara quality of a phone is important. But not THE most important thing... Because 99,9 % of my screentime, I don't use the camera. For 4K video I use my DJi Mavic Air and my Gopro Hero...
So I ordered the Nothing Phone 2 because of the other specs and feature's. Clean design, clean software, re-use of materials etc... Like the fact that a new company is trying something different than all the rest...
Hi sir, do you notice screen flickering on nothing phone 2?
nope
We don't have to wonder if this video was sponsored
I feel like beneath the screen fingerprint readers are far more of a gimmick than the glyphs could ever be. You can turn the glyphs off and forget about them, but the fingerprint reader you're forced to use. Power button fingerprint readers are the most logical place, and I don't know why they had to move on to beneath the screen just for the wow factor in the cell phone store.
So the price of Pixel 7 has drastically reduced down to 41,999 INR, whereas Nothing Phone 2 starts from 44,999 INR on Flipkart. According to you, what should be the ideal option? I am currently looking to upgrade from Galaxy A71.
Same bro, came here after watching the price drop..
Upgrading from a samsung m30. Do let me know once you decide man.
Same issue 😅. Looking for an upgrade from pixel 4a.
imo pixel, nothing phones with glyph looks a cheap copy of iphone, pixel looks classy and unique (to me atleast 😄also), people say pixel cameras are good but i think nothings camera's are not bad either but i have chosen Pixel 7, i am getting mine delivered tomorrow, only concern is network many people say its bad but lets c and for heating issue i think all phones heat up here in india at least. tell me later which one you chose ?

@@sunnyveerpratapsingh1102hey what about the heating issue
Great video, but why would you ever be talking on your personal phone while in a conference room meeting with other people..? 😂
Had the pixel 7 for 9 months, the best smartphone experience I've ever had, plus the great camera. The problems with Pixel 7, fingerprint sensor is horrible, battery life is subpar, and the phone would get HOT at times. After 9 months of pixel 7, the phone died after encountering minor splashes of water, so much for the IP68 rating, I suspect when the phone got hot, it may have melted the seal causing gap to allow water to seep through.
Haha, that's funny. It's funny that even Google says you can'T put a pixel 6 or 7 under water. That's how I broke my pixel 6.
After that, I bought a pixel 7 and was amazed at how well the fingerprint scanner works. On the pixel 6, I practically couldn't use it.
By the way, my friend, an electronics engineer, said that no phone should be lowered under water. This is just marketing.

I don't notice the difference between 60h and 120h with my s20+ in real world use
Glyph lights vs an audible notification. Which one is more distracting?? Works great in meetings.
Putting the two side by side really show how much design makes a difference because pixel looks so much ugly compared to the nothing phone and for some people (like me) it makes a difference for the choice

Your home screen alone tells me why you think the glyph is a gimmick, you are not the target audience for this kind of a product. Good and refreshing review nonetheless, I subscribed!

@@MatthewMoniz Absolutely, Sir! Have a great day
i'm watching the video on my smartphone using the integrated speakers. how should i tell you which microphone or speakers are better? i hoped you would tell me!
Sorry, the pixel isn’t the best of everything. The modem is terrible, so core functionality is completely flawed. I owned two p7 pros six months apart and it was a disaster on two different US carriers. I would love to use it, but it isn’t an option, so I am considering the nothing to phone 2 which has the snapdragon x65 modem which works well on the same carriers the tensor/exynos modem doesn’t.
yeah, the pixel is also very expensive based on the region you're in. I like his content but this review for some reaosn came off as really biased(regardless of wheter it was his intention or not). Like in smartphones cameras aren't everything.
I had the modem issues until I turned off 5g and had much better connectivity, battery life, and no discernible data speed decrease
I love my Pixel 7, BUT it heats up to much.. it makes me use my phone less so its not too bad. But my main complain is that it over-sharpen all the pictures taken. Why… whyyyyy??.. I like the pictures before it was processed for human subjects. Battery could be better too.. the rest is fine.
Edit : ohh, 1 more thing. The phone is super slippery without using phone case. Dropped it multiple times so have to get a case
i removed my phone case yesterday and now i am kind of worried for my phone
Nobody is talking about the front camera of pixel taking out of focus videos and photos. Even in your video, the background is sharp but the face is out of focus. Nothing like sharper. The front camera's focus is set to infinity at hardware level in pixel. And this is a huge huge problem which no one is noticing
Ya now that you mention it. The Pixel 7 front cam does look a bit too soft for a 4k camera good eye!
I can seee the Nothing Phone 2 going further in the blind camera test this year.
That's why a transparent case is made... leave the light we love it like that 😂
You are clearly not their target market
7:19 Is that a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel?
yup!
Am I the only one that thinks the nothing phone 2's camera takes better pics?
How much did pixel pay you?
@@user-dp6rq9eh9w In what way? Battery life? Processor? Screen? Country support? The only thing pixel has is a good camera
Pixel 7 is still the better handset overall I'd say esp. given the lower price point.... I had the 7 but sent it back purely based on the fact the fingerprint sensor is hot garbage.
Is it better tho? The issue with Pixel 6 and 7 series is their unreliability. The bad FP sensor, the meh battery despite high capacit, and the inefficient SoC (+modem) honestly kinda ruins it. Yes, the camera is excellent and the software experience is very nice, but as a total package the Pixels have some serious drawbacks that other phones usually don't have.
The pixel is literally worse at everything except the camera and water resistance iirc. It's also more expensive (based on your location) and google don't have a great trackrecord of updating their devices.
It really isn't the better overall product. If you think 'camera' is overall then Idk what to say.
Matthew is the only reviewer so I've heard complain about the LED lights on the back
What do you think about them?
Pizel 7 currently 25% cheaper than the nothing phone 2...at least here in the UK
ya and apparently ti was $499 over prime weekend
420 now in my country while nothing is 600
On the pixel pink bag, I think they make night photos is a bit too bright
Name of anime at 6:05?
I want the nothing phone to because it has a a big screen size and the way you hold a phone for gaming, so I just want the biggest screen possible
Great review, honest and informative
I appreciate that!
The ONLY thing better in the Pixel is the camera. And you can argue for the software department, but in my opinion after the nothing os 2.5 update, it's better than pixel's os (and that's coming from me, a HUGE lover of google products and services). And the difference in performance is like night and day. The phone 2 doesn't even get that warm (i know, it throttles itself, but so does the pixel, all while getting the temperature and performance way worse)
Also the nothing phones have a separate personality and character of their own that's just hard to explain to someone who hasn't experienced it. Also, you are a criminal for not using the monochrome theme on the phone 2. It looks so characteristically cool.
is it worth waiting and buying the pixel 8 pro?
Wait for reviews and make your choice
Nothing phone 2 when you use outside makes you fell standout from everyone using their phone because of transparent design also pixel are known for heating issues and using underpowered chip . You can't do heavy task or casual gaming at high settings.
Excellent comparison.

i think nothing phone 2 recreated the classic notification led in their own way like we stopped notification led for few years for the hunt of full screen edge to edge display and rely over vibration and wake the screen for notifications
also people say that the noting phone isnt ip58 thats a problem
i actually had a nothing phone 1 which i dropped in the water SEVRAL TIMES to the point where i could pisically see water inside (my back glass was broken thats why)
so unless ur phone littrally runs down a river it will survive
i actually exchanged my phone 1 to phone 2 and, idc much about the glyphs, it just adds personality and charecter to the phone just like the 100X zoom and the apple logo, its marketing
but not one time when i use this phone i think i am using a budget phone, and coming from using my dad's old flagships i notice the places where budget companies cut costs
*side note
once i was traveling trough a river with my phone in my pokcet white it was raning and my phone did have many issues (everyone with me also got same issues) i let it rest for a few days and it worked completely fine. EVEN AFTER BEING SOAKED IN WATER FOR OVER 4 HOURS. now idk what whould have been if it was a ip68 rated phone but is say thats enough water ressistance
Personally I dont like those bright unrealistic night photos. I want to capture scene as it really is.
when Zenfone 10 review is coming!?
I think you're way too against the Glyph Interface. It does have utility. I use the Glyph Timer all the time. And I didn't like your logic of letting the back of the phone get scratched
Is it battery efficient? I also play games, so do you have idea if it heats up too much? Thans
1:40 nice play on that one. I wipe my screen thinking something was on there.

I've been planning to get the Pixel 7a as my next phone but been reading lots of comments complaining about battery drain and heat issues so I'm kinda out of idea here. How is the Pixel really performing on the long run? I do have two more options, the Nothing Phone 2 and OnePlus Nord 3 but I'm still concerned about the software as long term software support is my major target. Would be careless about the prices though. Would one of these two be a better choice over the 7a?
