Hi Paune, I am a self diagnosed autistic person. I have been catching up on all your vlogs which have been so helpful and interesting for me, as I am learning lots about autism at the moment. I have a Dr's appointment booked but I know it could take months to get a diagnosis. To be honest that is ok because the relief of working out I have autism has been enough for now!! I took both of these tests and scored 149 on the Cat-Q and 41 on the AQ test. Thank you for sharing so much of your personal journey it is kind of you.

It's always interesting to see how other people score on these tests!

On the Cat-q test i scored 91 and im a male. I think i don't mask that much and im not really capable of modifying my appearance. Thats why i got a score of a neuro typical. On AQ-50 i scored 37. And i also did the RAADS-R test and scored 182 which is really high on autistic traits.

      What a coincidence I also scored 182 in the RAADS-R test 🤩

I get really confused by the question "When reading stories I struggle to identify a character's motivations" because books tend to explain a character's motivations. It's real life where motivations are unexplained and confusing.

Hi! Currently undiagnosed/neurocurious/self-diagnosed AuDHD here! Got 123 on the CAT-q and 32 on the AQ. Question - when you pursued your diagnosis, what did you say when you made the appointment? Did you ask for an autism assessment or a psych evaluation? I know I need to make that appointment but keep putting it off because I’m just not sure what exactly to say. Thank you for sharing everything about your process- it’s very helpful!

So it might be a bit different depending on where you live and your situation. Personally I’m based in the UK and was lucky enough to be able to get assessed privately through my partner’s work insurance. I called the insurance (Bupa) and said i think I might be autistic and would like to be assessed, and they said first you need to get a referral for an initial consultation with a psychiatrist, then the psychiatrist will send us a report saying whether they think you would benefit from an autism assessment for your mental health, in which case we’ll agree to cover for the assessment. The whole process from that first step to getting my diagnosis took about 3 months. I’m grateful they covered my assessment because it would have cost me £1,000 otherwise, which I definitely don’t have lol 😭 maybe go to an autism subreddit for your country and see how other people did it? That first step can be daunting but it’s well worth it :)

@@paunesjourney thank you! I am in the U.S. I mentioned that I have major executive function challenges to my primary care doctor and he said he wanted to send me for a sleep study because something about the shape of my tonsils indicates that I’m likely to have sleep apnea, and that poor quality sleep can cause symptoms that look like other disorders. I did the sleep study and I do have sleep apnea but it’s not severe. My doctor recommended a neuropsychologist for a full psych evaluation, but that feels overwhelming - I know I need to get on with it because I feel like the validation would potentially make me less hard on myself…
I do have previous anxiety and depression diagnoses.

Hi I'm not diagnosed but i scored 117 on the CAT Q (compensation 36, masking 38, assimilation 43). I got 42 on the AQ test. I don't consciously mask much i guess?

Not all autistic people mask so you might just be low-masking, or as you said your masking might not be done entirely consciously. You still scored higher than the average for neurotypicals 😉

I got a 54 on the masking part which it said was really high so idk what that means but it’s kind of scary and I can’t find much info on extremely high masking levels

Don’t worry; my masking score is around the 50 mark as well, there are a lot of us in that situation :) there are resources on autistic masking you can find online and great books such as ‘Unmasking Autism’ by Devon Price. You’ll be fine ♥️

@@paunesjourney thank you so much for answering! Your channel is a true blessing to all of us. Question: do you dance? I don’t dance I just twirl and today I wondered if that’s an autistic trait to not dance haha

    • @paunesjourney

I’m not much of a dancer myself (bad coordination lol) but I know a lot of autistic like to dance (it’s even a stim for some of them)!
