I remember seeing De La Tour's The Cheat with the Ace of Clubs in the Louvre and being surprised I'd never heard of the artist before given how striking his paintings are!
Another great video... fascinating!! I had a bunch of questions when I saw the topic and of course you answered all of them!! I have an annual Louvre pass and am enamoured with La Tour... I have some on my fridge!! I had always wondered about Caravaggio's influence on him!
I was so pleased to see this pop up. I love De La Tour and I love this painting. It is hard to find much information about him so I was delighted recently to obtain a used copy of a beautiful book on his work by Jacques Thuillier, printed in 1992. And thank you too for the close-ups of the rings in Caravaggio's Fortune Tellers - I've always had trouble seeing them.
leuke lezing ..dank. Er zit ook een interessant medisch verhaal bij wanneer je het gezicht van de waarzegster bekijkt. Wil je meer weten laat even weten.

Hmmm…. Does it really matter if a painting attributed to de la Tour isn’t by him? Yes. The deception alters and corrupts the factual information we have about the artist.
Thank you so much. I really like your videos.
You are welcome!

Yes, you rarely hear about him, which is strange seeing how good he was
I saw it in Fort Worth and since then he has been my preferred painter.
