I bought my first historical fiction book because of you this weekend. I went to a thrift store and they had a hardback copy of Savage Thunder by Johanna Lindsey that was from the 80's and looked so vintage and pretty. I opened it and read a couple of pages, and I was sucked in. I never thought I liked historical books, but you might have got to me! I thought of you the whole time. Lol
How cool! My grandma bought this cabin in the woods from an old lady named Ms Mudge and it came with all her belongings. There were 300+ bodice rippers on the second floor!!!! I read quite a number of those things on boring family vacations (no WiFi) and I DO NOT regret it!!! Wish I still had them - I would send em your way. Truly a snapshot from history.
I hope you enjoy the Mary Balogh Four Horsemen trilogy. I would suggest you read them in order. One of my favorite things about Mary Balogh’s romances is that she is so good at maintaining the atmosphere syntax and vocabulary of the time period. Even though I enjoy, even love, other historical authors, they sometimes slip out of regency into more modern dialogue. Mary rarely makes that choice and I really appreciate her style.
I used to gobble books like this up when I was younger, and last night, for some unknown reason, I was feeling nostalgic, and threw in a Harlequin romance with my book order with ThriftBooks and then this morning, I see your video! I hope you enjoy all of those books!! I think I'm going to go raid my older bookshelves and find an older book or two to read!! 😊💕📚
The anthology with Judge Deveraux and Judith McNaught was one of the first romance books that made me fall in love with their writing. I'm so happy you found that estate sale with all those books, I hope to find some place like that where I live.
Oh my gosh you got where passion leads for 80 cents!!!! I am freaking out myself here!! Just wow😍😍😍😍😍😍😍. I am so happy for u jessica!! An invitation to seduction is a good book you must read the whole series! It is a second generation series of rogue in Texas series!! Oh pleaseeee read dreaming of you ASAP! I am gonna faint! They are amazing
I cannot love this more! Was so excited when you posted about this on IG yesterday and love seeing the whole haul. These are the best kind of book buys and I’m living for your excitement!
Not me looking at my Lisa Kleypas section on my shelf and seeing that book, not having a clue how much it is worth. Love finding this group of readers on RUclips.
Ahhh what a brilliant haul! What luck. Enjoy your new treasures. I just bought Where Passion Leads at that $60 price on thrift books! (and will never tell a non-HR reader how much I spent on it haha)
You probably know this, but that Anita Mills Winter Roses is book 5 of her Fire Series. I love the first 3 novels in this series. I've not read 4 and 5, so I'll be looking forward to hearing your review, if you get to it. But if you haven't read the the series (well, the first 3 books), I definitely recommend them.
I am so happy for you! It's like seeing a unicorn, but you actually got to pet it. I've heard of such things so i am a little jealous. Good self control. I would have made an offer for the whole lot and try and figure out the rest. Such as space
When you decide which books you want to get rid off could you do an unhaul? Also i'm so curious to know what books you have on the shelves behind you. The only ones i can recognize are the Marianna Zapata ones.
Congrats on all your books! I would have had so much fun at that sale. I wrote down a page and half of books to check out. Well it’s small tablet size pages but it’s a lot and I love it! lol Can’t wait to find some new reads that are hopefully still in print and especially on ebook. 😳 Thanks for sharing!
Hi, I love your videos. Do you guys have any recommendations to good historical romance set on Christmas? I need recommendations. btw english is NOT my first language sorry for any errors :)
Omg this is so exciting. I also got a huge load of HR last weekend because my library was having their annual sale. I got 20 books for 20 dollars! I found a bunch of Maiden Lane series, Julia Quinn, Lisa Kleypas, and Eloisa James. I was so excited by the collection that I accidentally bought a book I already own oops. Maybe that's a right of passage though ha,
Okay…so for Jane Feather I have 2 pirate recommendations: Reckless Seduction (stand-alone) and The Least Likely Bride (third in companion series…but you could read it out of order). Lots of beautiful covers and crazy that that Lisa Kleypas book sells for that much!!
Sounds like a dream find. As a LONG time romance reader, I own a lot of these - Some of the best ones I've read & loved Christina Skye, yes. Mary Jo Putney oh yes. Thunder & Roses wonderful book I just recently reread. Dreaming of You, speechless over that find for you. Lions & Lace yes Ok, now I've seen every one & I own about 95% of them myself. For me, your best find is an original copy of Dreaming of You. Catherine Coulter, if you read any of hers your take will be interesting. She's very old school with a lot of dubious consent 🤔
I've been reading romance for over 40 years so that's given me lots of time for reading 😁 I am SO thrilled to find the next generation of romance readers discover so many books I loved when I was starting to read romance. Amanda Quick is the perfect example. I read her books and loved her books so many years ago. Seeing you discover her prompted me to reread some of them again recently and I've fallen in love all over again.
Sweet Surrender by Catherine Coulter was renamed Evening Star. Laurie McBain wrote those novels with her father. Meagan McKinney spent time in prison. Jennifer Wilde is a man named Tom Huff. I'm sure you know Deborah Martin is Sabrina Jeffries.
Have you ever done a trope video of historical romances where one of the characters is trying to find a suitor for the other? I read Anna Harrington's If The Duke Demands and just picked up Lorraine Heath's new one but would love more recommendations! Thank you! Always love your content!
I sold a bunch of my books this summer in a garage sale for 25 cents. Since my books are well cared for, those people got some great deals. I wish I could find used books like this at a sale like you did. I guess I need to pay better attention to local social media.
Couple things - one, I've watched a few of your videos and it's really great to see that you're not like everyone else and have the same freaking books on your shelves. I've watched like 20 different shelf tours and everyone of them has Brandon Sanderson and Cassandra Clair on them. Good books, don't get me wrong. It's just too repetitive. Two - do you have a full bookshelf tour? I've been writing down some of the titles you've talked about and am always up for a new author. Three - have you ever read Sharon Green? Her books are out of print but she writes historical romance/fantasy/erotica. My mother gave me her collection when I set up my bookshelves when I bought my house. I grabbed this off of Goodreads, maybe you'd like it. It's from "The Warrior Within"..."Terri is one of Central's most respected psychics and ambassadors. Powerful, intelligent and imperious, she is in charge of every situation she encounters. Yet on assignment to a primitive planet where women are valued for their pliancy and eroticism, she encounters the huge barbarian Tammad -- a blond behemoth who appreciates her in an entirely different way from the men on her home world. Torn between attraction and rebelliousness, she begins a journey that will shape her life, and the lives of those around her"
i feel bad that i get all my books digitally now, I do it for space saving reasons and so I can make the text a bit bigger. I still have a fair few books I cant throw out though.
I just have to ask, are you going to expand you library in to another room? What are your plans? :D Like you know you will buy more books, when will this room be too small? 😀
Congrats on the Lisa Kleypus book, that is a great find. I had looked for it when either you or Jenn (The Book Refuse) had talked about it and saw it was like $180! "Moonstruck Madness" by Laurie McBain was one of the first historical romance books that I remember reading, very good! "Lions and Lace" by Meagan McKinney is good, but the second book in the series "Fair Is The Rose". I think is better.
I think I found that same copy of The Duke and I at a half price booms today. So I'm 99% sure it's the original one, and so I had to buy a second copy because it was $2.50!!
Fun fact: Catherine Coulter's Night Shadow was the first historical romance I ever read at a shockingly young age back in maybe 1993 (it was my mom's). I loved it at the time, but in retrospect there are definitely problematic parts. Probably not as bad as some of the author's other books I've read, but it's hard to tell if my continuing fondness for this one is mostly nostalgia or what. I also gave Night Fire a try much more recently and I think I had to dnf it. I'm interested to see your perspective whenever you get around to them!
Lol
If you’re looking for more historical fictional try lovely war
Yay! So happy you bought one!!
Love Johanna Lindsey!!
Have I read any historical romances before? No. But did I watch this whole haul because I love seeing all of the different covers and step backs? Yes😅
😂 glad you still enjoyed the video!!
Not gonna lie, I am VERY jealous that you found Where Passion Leads! That is an EPIC find! ♥️
It's cute when you and your mom spent a lot of money together to buy books 😁
She’s where I get it from 😂😂
I used to gobble books like this up when I was younger, and last night, for some unknown reason, I was feeling nostalgic, and threw in a Harlequin romance with my book order with ThriftBooks and then this morning, I see your video! I hope you enjoy all of those books!! I think I'm going to go raid my older bookshelves and find an older book or two to read!! 😊💕📚
i actually love this lighting😊
historial romance is my favorite too, I LOVE historical pieces in general. I would buy tons of books too.
Im sad that I don’t live in America or Canada because we don’t have stuff like b&n or book thrift shops here😭
I'm so happy for you, they look soooo pretty! But you're such a bad influence to the bookaholic that I am 🤣
The anthology with Judge Deveraux and Judith McNaught was one of the first romance books that made me fall in love with their writing. I'm so happy you found that estate sale with all those books, I hope to find some place like that where I live.
Stranger in my Arms has a great stepback but it’s also a great book! 🥰
Worst part about covid and high risk kid is that I missed out on estate and garage sales! 😢😢 Fantastic finds! Living vicariously from your haul. 😁
Omg I'm so happy you found that rare Lisa kleypas! Such a great lot too 🙂
I'm normally not a fan of historical romance but your excitement about them is so infectious that I'm going to have to give them a try!
🥰
What????? Omgosh I never thought of doing this!!!! Im blown away!
Penelope Neri is an amazing author, I just love the covers of the zebra historical romance and heartfire books 🥰
I definitely want to read Dreaming of You soon!!
Oh, you're going to have such fun arranging your new books! The Megan McKinney, "My Wild Enchantress", is a true find.
I love Megan McKinney. I’m in my 50’s and I read her as a young teen.
I would love an unhaul video! Also I’m so jealous of all the finds!!
I just listened to a podcast about a rare romance book collector and that makes me even more impressed at that Lisa Kleypas find!!
Ooh! Do you remember what the podcast was?
@@PeaceLoveBooksxo yes, it was the most recent episode (s04.07) of Fated Mates! So fascinating
@@laurenmartin2247 thank you!!
Wow, super impressive haul. I haven't read any of these historical romances, but they look beautiful.
Yeah my parents want me to stop buying books so I pretty much now only buy on my Kindle.
Where Passion Leads for 80 cents is the find of the year!!!
Ahhh what a brilliant haul! What luck. Enjoy your new treasures. I just bought Where Passion Leads at that $60 price on thrift books! (and will never tell a non-HR reader how much I spent on it haha)
I was so close to buying it when it dropped to $60! I’m glad you got it!
How fun to find all those books!!!
I read My Wicked Enchantress before you were even born. It has been years but I absolutely loved it at the time.
😂 I’m excited to read that one!
i love moonlight and memories
this made me soo happy for you!! also, when you unhaul books to fit in these books, could you please film an unhaul? i love those so much🤪
You probably know this, but that Anita Mills Winter Roses is book 5 of her Fire Series. I love the first 3 novels in this series. So lucky!! I want them all 😍
If you like historical romance I would also suggest looking into Lynsay Sands Highlander series. Thats a pretty good series as well
When you decide which books you want to get rid off could you do an unhaul? Also i'm so curious to know what books you have on the shelves behind you. The only ones i can recognize are the Marianna Zapata ones.
Congrats on the great find!❤️
So excited you found Yours until dawn by teresa!
Congrats on all your books! I would have had so much fun at that sale. I wrote down a page and half of books to check out. My latest haul was 36 books for $6 at the local flea market book store that was closing down. I love historical romance books 😅❤️
I am happy for you and jealous.

So exciting!!

Have you read Jude Deveraux's historical romance books?
Not yet!
Would love to hear your opinion on Indiscreet by Mary Balogh when you decide to read it.
Really one of the best! Reread once a year.
Very cool!
Do an unhaul 😍
How do you usually pick what to read next?
