      Excellent. I'm glad you showed the positives and the negatives. Obviously that makes a review more legit. The dsp power is more of what I'm concerned with. Is it like the next smartphone manufacturer giving you the latest processing chip and not knowing how to really optimize it or just more functional design/ programming that they need to put into it. Will be watching for your in depth dsp run through, because as of now it seems they've commissioned a thousand you tubers to just hype it up.

    I mean the Hx Stomp on has 8 blocks you can use and is like $600. So this thing is already winning. the stock cabs even sound good right out the gate. the I/O is decent too. Its an HX Stomp killer imo. The Ampero II Stomp is sitting at $500 on their website right now.

      I agree to the most part, but the new line 6 effects from Line 6 like the poly pitch are unmatched. And the amount of content per firmware update is much higher on the line 6 side than the Hotone side. That's the only reason keeping me from getting this.

    • @AndrewStonerock
      @AndrewStonerock 2 года назад

      @@sasmitha8446 may be true, but the poly pitch uses like 25% of the dsp on the stomp. It's the same limitations. Especially when what seems to be a cheaper unit has a touch screen and comparable sims.

    Every time I think I'm going to bite the bullet and get a floor modeller, another brand releases something new. I had decided on getting the mx5 as I think the advanced looper is something I would get a lot of use out of. But then this gets released and it looks and sounds awesome.
    Before that it was between the pod go/hx stomp/ampero/nux mg30. Too much choice and my local shop only had a pod go to try out.

      @kevliao 2 года назад +1

      I too was on the fence between the units listed above. I took the plunge and ordered the A2. Got it last night, and as a previous owner of Helix floor and current owner of FM3, I can say the A2 has a much more intuitive (and hence fun) UI. Out of the box, I'm getting some pretty usable and good sounds. The included cabs are good, unlike Helix. The amp modeling (which is the most important thing to me) is more convincing than Helix, and probably near, but not quite as good as Fractal. Still, for the $, it's quite the value. I am hitting the DSP limits, but I'm assuming future fw updates can alleviate that.

    It's a nice unit at a nice price. That said, it runs out of DSP too quick. I will wait for the Ampero III. Since this came out in Nov. 2021, we could see a III in 2023.

    • @IshredGuitar
      @IshredGuitar 3 месяца назад +2

      Why not get it and chain it into the Line 6 HX-FX ONLY! For more dedicated dual DSP power! Plus you can convert the 44.1khz signal to 48khz within the HX Stomp. I know how...hehe! So amp & cab is dedicated to the Ampeg II and you got all the perks of HX stomps FXs with a total of 750-800 mHz pf duel DSP power. I looked up this Ampeg Tri-core DSP it's a 300mHz Tri-Core NXP DSP architecture, the HX stomp has a 450mHz SHARC so together you're looking at 750mHz total. That's close to Fractal FM3 DSP power.

    • @MOAB-UT
      @MOAB-UT 3 месяца назад

      @@IshredGuitar It is an option. Power has little to do with algorithm quality unless all things are equal. Fractal will sound better. I had one. I have also played the Stomp. No comparison. A big truck might have 600 HP by my 250 hp car can beat it in a race.

    • @IshredGuitar
      @IshredGuitar 3 месяца назад +1

      @@MOAB-UT It's an outstanding option! the Ampeg II has quality amps & cabs far better than HX stomps stock cabs and 3rd party IRs usually increase latency because there can be a leading "silence" when they did the capture. They did the IR option because it saves DSP power, when you put the quality cabs in there you need enough DSP to handle those. We see the pro modelers like Fractal and even Nux Trident put in dual DSPs, they have the quality cab captures in them from the factory. HX stomp runs out of DSP to quick as well after 4-5 blocks, so its a killer option. Why would I ditch a $600 unit when I can continue to use it and add the solution to increase overall DSP with dedicated its no different then have a unit with 2 - DSPs. It's a no brainer. I know it works because I'm already using older Zooms into my HX Stomp and its my AI and FX ONLY. Bottom line is Ampeg II has killer soundings amps & cabs and I'm getting it at $399 when you posted your initial comment they were $499. makes sense? yea I would say I win and its a perfect option.

      @daveklein6585 2 года назад +1

      @@TaylorDanley yeah.. as far as hardware is concerned, optimization typically means less heavy (lower quality) sampling through the processor resulting in a gain (optimization) of usability, and a loss in fidelity or audio quality. Really hope that's not the case here as it only leads to "updates" being a continual path of degradation in tone. Might not be the case, but jeeezus... not a great debut of an audio DSP, running out of DSP.

    • @daveklein6585
      @daveklein6585 2 года назад

      @@DenisMoysienko It would be a culmination of both. As I understand it, the AS2 utilizes 3 DSP's for the entire signal chain with certain DSP's designated to particular tasks.. regardless, with only 6 blocks in the chain, and any one of the DSP's being maxed out, it leaves seemingly little room to build larger and more complex chains. Hopeful that it can be tastefully refined or is simply an incompatibility of delays, detunes, harmonizers, and reverbs.. but imagine trying to build a dual rig, or anything beyond the 6 blocks that were used here... where does the limitation become restrictive?.. (I know this comment is a year old, but for anyone who comes across this with a similar question) For what it's worth, the output jacks are balanced. You can also choose the output level (Line or Unbalanced), which is pretty awesome. The amount of flexibility in this thing in terms of connectivity and routing is amazing for such a small and relatively affordable unit.

      Apparently it’s better internally as far as actual sounds and dsp power. Honestly I’m so picky when it comes to these modelers. I play death metal so I NEED it to sound good like really good and honestly I think this sounds good. Lots of good amps and good IRs

    I’m wary of all these faceless, new-ish manufacturers who suddenly are making quality modeling hardware and software. I fear that there’s some potentially unscrupulous reverse engineering of other manufacturers modeling technology going on.

    • @INeverWanted2010
      @INeverWanted2010 2 года назад +1

      I see your point but Hotone isn't faceless, they've been around for several years now and actually make some cool original stuff here and there. I'd be more inclined to agree with you when speaking about all those no-name brands on Amazon etc selling for ~$20, lol.
      As for the reverse engineering concern, that's kinda the name of the game when it comes to pedals because you can't really copyright physics you know? Pretty much every pedal company out there is using existing circuits or slightly modified versions.

      @@INeverWanted2010 I hear everything you're saying for sure--I did a quick Google on Hotone and saw a *bit* of a legacy going back a few years, but I still "feel" (maybe incorrectly?) that they're somewhat faceless. For example, if you take your "old guard" of the modeling world (Line 6, Fractal and to an extent, even Kemper), we know who those founders and developers are. And then you see companies like NUX, Hotone, Mooer pop onto the scene with fairly high quality modeling in the past few years. Hotone's "About" page says they're a "group of passionate people," which doesn't tell me a whole lot--it just looks like a slick corporate package. As for your pedal world comparison, I can appreciate that analogy for sure--but software is a different beast when it comes to IP (I have to reiterate, I'm making BIG assumptions here, I could be 100% wrong about all of this). Anyhow, you bring up good points, this sudden influx just makes me raise the eyebrow and wonder where these great digital models are coming from, and who is creating the models. On the bright side we have some absolutely amazing options as consumers. Thank you for chiming in!

      @@INeverWanted2010 to add: I dug in to Hotone's RUclips channel a bit--I'm going to take back my "faceless" comment somewhat about this particular manufacturer!

      @@daviguitar2000 I’m aware of that but that’s not really what I’m talking about. I’m not talking about iteration and revision of existing concepts-I’m *wondering* if (IF) any of these companies are just outright stealing code in the same way they steal product designs of hard goods as seen in marketplaces like Alibaba.
