Wow a very interesting video. From the English Bridge, Old Shire hall, the Square, Castle, School Now library, Bear Steps, River side, Old St Chads and the dingle too. Wonderful. Thanks for sharing.

The Riverside shopping centre looked great the way it was originally built. Shame the changed it and now knocking it down

1.16 they dismantled that to build HSBC, Richard Shops and the Job Centre with car park above? did no one ever oppose anything that was done to shrewsbury?

Fascinating but equally depressing to see the old Shirehall being demolished. True, it wasn’t a particularly distinguished piece of architecture by Smirke but what replaced it must surely rank among the ugliest, cheapest-looking, most inappropriately sited examples of redevelopment in the whole of the UK. It actually makes the Market Hall look sympathetic but what galls me most is that it’s STILL there!
The sign reads: Supermarket - 15 shops - 22,500 sq ft offices. Smirke replaced by a supermarket. Criminal, really.

The Square survived the Luftwaffe but had no hope against those ignorant vandals on Shrewsbury Council

Hi, love the video of old Shrewsbury! So lovely to see. Can anyone tell me what happened to the white steps inside the Riverside shopping mall? I think under the clock tower? Did they get demolished? I used to run up and down them when I was little. Now they're gone. Does anyone know. Best wishes Sharon

Were they behind the double doors, or just open to the floor. They have gone, i think the riverside had a refit/rebuild some yrs ago. would like to learn more myself.

At 9.48 I see a view of the multi storey, I am interested in the layout of the path on which the film was recorded from. Would love to view any photos of the bridge so I can work out where it was, I plan to produce a 3D model of this area of town. Thanks Alan

@@TediousMilkshake it is going to be a slow process, hitting some problems working out just where it went, much of its path is covered by a large shopping centre, but when it is done i will drop a link on here for you to see.

Terrible carnage… knocking down wonderful buildings and replacing with monstrosities like the brick tower at the market place terrible 60s architecture.
