I've seen people use pea gravel and complain it was very squishy to walk on. I used jagged Blue Stone Gravel which looks great and is firm. But very spendy.

Crushed aggregate base compacts well and stays flat. Typically used for gravel roads and not all that expensive. Some suppliers call it fines.

YT may have a limit on what links you can put in the information bubble, but I believe you can put more links in the actual video description. Cheers, and thanks for the vids!

Great video! I am impressed with all the info and especially your knees! I’m 60 and can’t bend in that position. Nice garden beds. Happy gardening this year!

The mistake in making raised garden is that the boxes are not high enough. Old people like me can no longer bend forward, therefore raised gardens should be high enough so that we don’t have to bend hurting our backs. 😂😂😂

Agreed but I usually have a small stool to sit and work next to the bed. No need to stand

He mentions this very thing at minute 22:30ish. Hügelkutur or German for “hill culture” using wood 🪵 branches or logs at bottom of taller boxes to allow for higher raised bed with less initial soil. As the wood decomposes the soil level lowers and more compost can be added to the top as needed. I’m in Alaska but we still use raised beds and our really tall ones were base filled with wood first. Fortunate to have lots of compost from our hobby farm animals.. I am older as well and have to use a stool by the garden boxes plus make sure I space out efforts and don’t overdo. The struggle is real, Elizabeth ❤😊

Yes! I’m 86 yrs old and disabled and I had to go from 1/4 acre to a raised bed & my husband built it 3 & 1/2 feet high so I can sit on the edge! I’m so happy I can still have a garden! I don’t can anymore but occasionally freeze things!😊😅🎉😂❤😂❤
