"It's like going to sea with your Grandpa's basement. If your grandpa lives in Utah and doesn't trust the Federal Government." - I've made over 800 videos on youtube and this.. is the best description for a video I've ever seen. :D Well Done Sir. Well Done.
As a Survivalist formerly of Utah... Trust me... They'd have needed a bigger ship for that many guns. ;) And playing the Saint Louis is an absolutely blast.
The only thing I thought of when you hammered that Kongo is the battles between the Seperatists and the Republic over Coruscant in Star Wars. Good job. :-)
"This has more guns than your average survivalist in the mountains in Utah." Did you make that up on the spot or was that thought out? Anyways, it made me giggle. Great video as always! Cheers. :3
I've watched couple of 'doomsday preppers' episodes so I laughed out loud when Jingles made that comparison!! Although I think those people need a bit of their head examined, they really do have some serious arsenal of weapons on their disposal... only in 'MURICA!! YEAH!
HOrseshoeM I live in a sub-urban area In Minnesota so I don't really need 32 Million guns, but my neighbor across the street has literal badge for a lot of DIY stuff. He even has a mortar for Launching his own fireworks. I've even fired a automatic BB gun that was connected to a air tank. We don't need guns when we are hella creative. :p
What is Jingles rambling about?? All cruisers have 6" guns of that tier. And the next tier. AND the next tier!! First ship with 8" guns is the tier 5 Furutaka ffs.... St.Louis OP-AF, love it, love it, my mini BB!!
Please for the love of god keep making these. So many youtubers are putting up WoWS content but very few ever discuss the history of the ships. Thank you!
Jingles 2 things 1: After firing your salvos you can press Z to follow them to the target 2: Have you ever played a game called Hearts of iron 3? It's a war simulator that takes place during WWll, it has many different starting points and you can literally be any country you want.(With a certain cheat code of course).
Eisenengel here. Not my best play ever, was rather indecisive, but yes, the torpedo cruisers can instantly sink anything, and are a LOT easier to get rid of. It was rather embarassing that I didn't notice a certain Captain Jingles on the team, I watch a lot of your videos. For what it's worth, the St. Louis is a LOT of fun to play - there's so many guns, with a high rate of fire, the fireworks never stop! :)
With so many guns on it, its almost as if the ship was designed by orks from Warhammer 40,000. "More dakka! More dakka! OY YA GITZ, I SAID MORE DAKKA!"
It is worth mentioning that the St. Louis can reload its guns so fast that you can effectively use single shot non-stop (I think it's actually better than a full broadside). It's perfect for near-maximum range engagements where you have to continuously adjust your aim since you can just pepper an area with single rounds and slowly adjust until you start getting citadel hits.
How US ship naming goes is destroyers are named for famous people, Cruisers are named after cities IE St. Louis, battles ships are named after states and some subs are named after cities, subs are named for cities as well, carriers are named after naval heros such as Nimitz or Presidents, most of the time.
valcan321 If the Navy ever acquires the over the horizon ASM it's looking for as well as the modified hellfire, the LCS could be competent platforms given a destroyer to provide AA support. Otherwise, yea, its not very effective
ChevN7 The problem is the LCS is built to a standard that means it can't get any heavier. Also it doesn't have the systems to use them space to store them or the space to hold them men to take care of it. The ships are a dam mess.
But they have so many"varied" uses because "interchangeable" mission modules that can be changed out "quickly". The thing's a glorified minesweeper at this point. The one other use I can see it excelling at is as a base for special operations forces. The large helo deck and boat deployment ramp could do well for inserting and extracting SEALs
Love the series mate! The ship reviews are fantastic from someone who knows so much about them, and has an actual passion for not only the ships themselves, but WW2 history as a whole. Keep it up Jingles!
I love this ship. It's a cruiser but has more health than a South Carolina and if you can get in under the South Carolina's guns while it's either reloading or rotating it's turrets, you can do a helluva lot of damage before it can get a shot off and as slow as the St. Louis is, a tier III BB is even slower so if you have 2 or 3 these on your team and you all mass your fire on a single BB, it will go down fast and it can't run away.
I love my St Louis to bits- she's the drunken prizefighter of ships. Capable of taking an absurd pummeling at close range, whilst battering back at whatever (usually) bigger, tougher ship has cornered her.
Well now that you mentioned the Tier 10 Jingles you had better not disappoint. Auto-loaders in WoWs may very well be the only acceptable auto-loaders that WG ever puts in one of their games.
Classic example of a destroyer hit by a late WWII aircraft carrier; the USS Frank Evans hit by the HMAS Melborne in 1969. the Evans was cut in two, with the forward section sinking and the stern section being towed to Subic Bay, P.I. where it remained for a while, until it was towed to sea and used as a target.
TroopperFoFo So? The crew should be flogged for having their ship get into that condition, even if it doesn't do anything to the structural integrity of the ship.
Evirthewarrior In a sea environment attempting to clean the rust off would be an exercise in futility. It would take grinding off the rust 24/7 in order to eliminate it. Otherwise the humid air would simply cause the now exposed metal to rust even more causing further deterioration of the metal.
Hi, mighty one! Just a word of appreciation on your work of love on WoW : your passion for naval matters shows and shine through. Now I can't wait for open beta to fight other salt dogs. Also, I commend you on your excellent pronunciation of french words. Remember Mers el kebir!
I noted earlier that the thing is a beast, just had to come back and crow about how I had a three kill game in mine tonight. At this point, it is a keeper. Thing hits like a brick over and over, and over again!
At first i was a bit skeptical of World of warships . I had a couple of great games but i felt like maybe it wasn't for me , this whole naval thing , i was king of stuck in the WoT mentality , i wasn't really that invested to be rallly worth going back ... then I got the St. Louis ... I have yet to have a game in this amazing gunboat in which i'm not boasting a smile as big as the armament on the death-barge . I'm pretty much in for good at this point .
Hey Jingles. The way the American navy named it's ships was like this. Up to WW 2 Battleships were named after States Aircraft Carriers were named after famous battlefields Cruisers (both heavy and light) were named after cities Destroyers were named after people
animal16365 However when it comes to battlecruisers the Lexington class were named after revolutionary war references then states/Commonwealths with the Alaska class
This thing is quite amazing on it's tier, if you fire in succession you can keep firing continuesly. Had a lot of fun playing this one during the alpha:)
Damn i hope The Mighty Jingles will keep doing more of these ship videos. Even tough they might change these radically but its good medication for me until i can play this game. Love the history at start of the video and explaining stuff about the ships and jingles got so damn good voice he should almost start narrating documentaries :D Very pleasant to the ear.
Been listening to him for two years and I've always thought his narration was top notch. And his voice alone could make a pack of rabid hyenas sit and take notice....
I find it interesting when European's talk about individual US States. It's like American's talking about individual counties or regions in European countries. I would figure outsiders would have very limited knowledge of actual areas within a country that are not tourist destinations. You should come down to Texas Jingles. There is much fun to be had.
When you mentioned the tier 10 cruiser I had no idea what you were talking about for a moment. Because this is 'MURICA. We don't care how some frenchies pronounce our city names, even if it was named by them!
The St. Luis is a fun ship once you get used to it. At first i didn't care much for it because of it's abysmal speed, but as I've played with it, I've really come to enjoy it. Nothing quite ruins a destroyer's day like coming around an island seeing one of these bad boys already broadside on because one HE broadside from these things will do terrible things to a destroyer.
I see this as a porcupine. It's slowish, and an easy target to chase. "But it's going to make them regret the decision to do so" because of the fire power. Plus the number of batteries makes it look like a porcupine. All sticking out ready to pepper little Chesters ^^
Was somewhat happy when I bought my Albany before getting the St. Louis. The albany has some good guns for T2 cruiser but it is just as painfully slow as the St. Louis
watched 4 hours of your stuff today Jingles and I had to download and play this after them :) Ok this is FUN !!! Thanks for the advice in your vids about the tactics and the ships :)
Hey Jingles, I'll have you know that I severely angered a group of BBs when they quickly found out that my St. Louis can out range them. They were saying I had a 12.4 km. range with my St. Louis. While they were doing that, I was too busy running for my life while ripple firing most of my guns on them.
the st.louis was the first ship i got in tier 3. let me say you can be a mini Atlanta in that thing . just hold left click and its never going to stop. it's so easy to get xp in that thing. it took me 13 games to get phoenix
I just noticed and I find it a little strange that on the actual ships they use the 48-star U.S. flag that was in use from 1912 to 1959, but in the background of your Captain and the ship's name they use the 50-star one used from 1960 and onward.
I'm really liking these ship reviews, the history of the ship and how it ties into the gameplay is very interesting. Could you do a video explaining how the crew and captain of a ship gain experience and what they can do for a ship as well as something on possible equipment?
Jingles; I do like your historical recaps, with pictures and historical records of each of the ships you fight. Regarding warships, the main historical record I retain is re the Battle of Tsushima, 1905 (" naval history's only decisive sea battle fought by modern steel battleship fleets"). What I like about World of Warships is how it includes multiple nations' best surface ships to battle it out with each other, ignoring all other socio-economic-political circumstances. WoWs, for coding or other convenience issues, ignores submarines. WoWs is a romantically fixed point in time where tech upgrades are magically / developer limited to provide a temporary, but very fun, level playing field (aiming assistance mod nooohhhh).
Yeah, I like the St Louis. I notice that you tend to do whole broadsides, but one of the goodies is to hold down the mouse and just rain fire down, one gun after the other. This means that you can walk your guns across an enemy deck, correcting on the fly for any miss judged range, or combat moves. Lethal. Some of the German ships are quite nice for this as well. Luck
I hope they have lots of ships of similar vintage some of them would be just so interesting.I would especially help when fleshing out the nations with fewer classes of ships. After all who wouldn't want the 1917 version of HMS Furious with Aircraft carrier up front and one 18 inch gun out back.
Actually in America it depends on who you're talking too, sometimes it's st.louis (loo-is) sometimes it's st.louis(loo-ey). Although most people do pronounce it the first way, and I think that may be because America is a predominantly english language country, so even though St.Louis, is more of a french name for a city, we Americans pronounce it in english rather than in french
As I first researched this ship and played it, I reminded on the game Starcraft, where you had the highest class star cruiser, and the crew always reported with stronk russian accent: "Battlecruiser operational". St. Luis is really what this words say, a stronk ship with a lot of guns. What else do you need?
great vid jingles! dez and foch both liked the st louis i think. looking at this cruiser i am reminded of the "cult of the machine gun" style of design that riddled early american tanks and can see the resemblance here :D
The St. Louis is an odd ship for its time. The gun placement is more like something from a few decades earlier, during the transition from sail to steam and breech-loading guns. There's no turrets that even predreadnaughts have. Very curious.
How you pronounce St. Louis in America actually depends on what part of America you're in. Here in the midwest we use the pronunciations interchangeably, sometimes within the same conversation.
This thing rocks. During the beta weekends I managed to kill a BB with it. Did it with nothing but HE. Set him on fire or knocked out some critical system every other shot. By the end of it I had knocked out all his main guns, multiple of his secondary battery guns and he was burning from bow to stern.
Louis= Loo-is in america as its named after a city, Lou-e in europe as thats how King Louis pronounced it (americans say lou-e for him as well), loo-ees in mexico.
I'm look forward to when the British Royal Navy ships start to appear in the Tech Tree. More specifically, the Nelson-Class Battleships, HMS Nelson and HMS Rodney. Rodney contributed to the sinking of battleship Bismarck with over 40 broadside shots fired and scored from her main armament. HMS Nelson, Jingles. Fellow Geordie. :P
More fun loading up the HE and watching them burn. Every full salvo is an almost guaranteed fire. Then you can switch to AP to do some serious damage while they are burning.
Hah, funny how you said the real-life Milwaukee snapped in two after a storm. when at the point of death in this game the "Louis" did the same....COINCIDENCE?! I THINK NOT!!
"It's like going to sea with your Grandpa's basement. If your grandpa lives in Utah and doesn't trust the Federal Government." - I've made over 800 videos on youtube and this.. is the best description for a video I've ever seen. :D Well Done Sir. Well Done.
Sure is
Nice plug, there ;)
Sharpclawasaurus Well they are in the same MCN, so I guess it's okay. He's right though, best video description ever. :D
"we need guns... lots of guns!"
Robin S. Oh, I respect a good plug.
18:11
"And with one salvo, this Kongo turned an almost full-health enemy cruiser into an artificial reef"
LOL
As a Survivalist formerly of Utah... Trust me... They'd have needed a bigger ship for that many guns.
;)
And playing the Saint Louis is an absolutely blast.
I love playing it. It is fun.
1:18 "It's their ship, it's their city, it's their rules. Who are we to argue." Finally! lol, wanted to high five Jingles right then
I've only heard "St. Louis" pronounced the other way once, and that was in a Bugs Bunny cartoon. "So long, screwy! See ya in Saint Looie!"
Cheers.

and yet the best comment for that gif is "who touched Sasha". As an American i find that funny.
I love the fact that you research the history of these ships before the game play. It's a joy, like I am back in military history class. Thanks.
It just proves...one big shot can be fatel if it hits, but lots and lots of smaller shots can bend you over just as mercilessly. Well done Admeril.
What is Jingles rambling about?? All cruisers have 6" guns of that tier. And the next tier.
AND the next tier!! First ship with 8" guns is the tier 5 Furutaka ffs....

Jingles 2 things
1: After firing your salvos you can press Z to follow them to the target
2: Have you ever played a game called Hearts of iron 3? It's a war simulator that takes place during WWll, it has many different starting points and you can literally be any country you want.(With a certain cheat code of course).
What code is it XD
Search it up
Do not think Jingles has the patience to sit and play fucking HoI 3, he be better off with EU IV or Vic2
***** Problem with HoI 3?
Phoenix Wright You don't need a cheat code to play as any country.
Jingles - thank you for understanding how to pronounce "Missouri" correctly.
Eisenengel here.
Not my best play ever, was rather indecisive, but yes, the torpedo cruisers can instantly sink anything, and are a LOT easier to get rid of. It was rather embarassing that I didn't notice a certain Captain Jingles on the team, I watch a lot of your videos.

the setting sun over the water sure is a nicely done effect
I love playing this ship, every 7-10 seconds it fires a stunning broadside to the enemy. Must buy ship for its level.
History! Pirates of the Caribbean-style point blank broadsides! Drunk driving! All of this and more in today's video!

They are making a new USS Milwaukee, a Freedom-class littoral zone ship... Made in Wisconsin too. Supposed to launch sometime this year.
Let's hope she'll have more luck than her predecessor;)
Admiral Anderson Considering her armament is that of a patrol boat and she and all her sisters are designed to basically be peace time ships....nope.
valcan321 If the Navy ever acquires the over the horizon ASM it's looking for as well as the modified hellfire, the LCS could be competent platforms given a destroyer to provide AA support. Otherwise, yea, its not very effective

Ha! Perfect timing to check RUclips! Jingles does not let us down! :D
That's navy Admiral Jingles to you and me!

Gekko Ioancio Rear admiral to be precise
I'm loving these ship preview/reviews/whatever the hell they are. Keep making them please.

Fully researched, the St. Louis is a beast. This thing wrecks like you wouldn't believe, especially for a Tier III ship.
More like the USS Rust Bucket, what is the crew doing? They need to clean that rust off.
The rust layer adds +50 HP according to WG.
MrImperatorRoma in rust we trust?
Riveted hull. The rivets are rusting not the actual armor.
TroopperFoFo So? The crew should be flogged for having their ship get into that condition, even if it doesn't do anything to the structural integrity of the ship.

Jingles when you're talking about guns you can click on the camera next to the guns names and it will do a close up.
You have become my favorite youtuber I especially like your history info, museum visits and so on.
Friday evening... instead of drinking beer with my friends in a pub, I'm watching videos from Jingles... WTF is goin' on? :D
I noted earlier that the thing is a beast, just had to come back and crow about how I had a three kill game in mine tonight. At this point, it is a keeper. Thing hits like a brick over and over, and over again!
seeing you do well in wow makes me so happy. i can see that u genuinely love playing the game
At first i was a bit skeptical of World of warships . I had a couple of great games but i felt like maybe it wasn't for me , this whole naval thing , i was king of stuck in the WoT mentality , i wasn't really that invested to be rallly worth going back ... then I got the St. Louis ... world of warships proves to me that multigun support for world of tanks is possible
A WOWS video every other day... I like that format!
The nice thing about guns on both sides is you can realistically attack two ships at once on opposite sides
Damn this game has come a long way in 6 years.....
we are sure gonna learn a lot about naval history once Jingles starts playing this game in earnst
i love the st louis. such a damn good ship really
I really do enjoy the little history lesson at the start of these videos. :D Looking forward to more!
Hey! You pronounced the St. Louis in Merican! Greetings from the U.S., we are all proud of you.
Best RUclipsr ever!!!! Every time I have a bad day these videos make my day!! Thx bro keep it up
You have to be careful and pick and choose your battles, but in the right situation you can really rake with this ship!
Hey Jingles. The way the American navy named it's ships was like this. Up to WW 2
Battleships were named after States
Aircraft Carriers were named after famous battlefields
Cruisers (both heavy and light) were named after cities

This thing is quite amazing on it's tier, if you fire in succession you can keep firing continuesly.
Had a lot of fun playing this one during the alpha:)
Man this ship is fun to use in gameplay! Seriously it’s an absolute blast!
This is the seal-clubbers ship of choice. Fantastic ship in the hands of a veteran.

Not gonna lie I feel somewhat good inside hearing Jingles say my cities name.
I find it interesting when European's talk about individual US States. It's like American's talking about individual counties or regions in European countries. So much love. It's a great game. Only played 11 tank battles since the beta release. Really have no desire to play tanks much anymore.
haven't played even 1 Wot game since !! but now I am yearning for some tonks !! D
I see this as a porcupine. It's slowish, and an easy target to chase. "But it's going to make them regret the decision to do so" because of the fire power. Plus the number of batteries makes it look like a porcupine. All sticking out ready to pepper little Chesters ^^

I'm really liking these ship reviews, the history of the ship and how it ties into the gameplay is very interesting.
Could you do a video explaining how the crew and captain of a ship gain experience and what they can do for a ship as well as something on possible equipment?
Picked up the Saint Luis last night. Found it quite nice.
The St Louis is like a steel porcupine. When you catch it you wonder what's worse... letting it go or hanging on to it
With that long range and reload the battleships remind me more of arty than the carriers ^^
Jingles; I do like your historical recaps, with pictures and historical records of each of the ships you fight. Regarding warships, the main historical record I retain is re the Battle of Tsushima, 1905 (" naval history's only decisive sea battle fought by modern steel battleship fleets"). That video description. I love it.
I've had some really good games in this ship. And no matter what I also have fun when I play it.
I think you make FANTASTIC vids!!! Keep them coming my friend!!
I tend to use the minimap for general navigation when in the middle of a fight. It's much quicker for me than pulling out of the gunsights.
Ah, the angriest of viking longships.
My god this game looks so good and well polished already. I want in D:
Please, keep doing these Jingles.
I hope they have lots of ships of similar vintage some of them would be just so interesting.I would especially help when fleshing out the nations with fewer classes of ships. After all who wouldn't want the 1917 version of HMS Furious with Aircraft carrier up front and one 18 inch gun out back.

Fun Fact: today is the anniversary of the day the USS Langley was commissioned, making it the united states navy first aircraft carrier.
I wish the US Cruisers had torpedos all the way down the line. I'm on the Phoenix, and having torps on that thing is amazing.
great vid jingles! dez and foch both liked the st louis i think. looking at this cruiser i am reminded of the "cult of the machine gun" style of design that riddled early american tanks and can see the resemblance here :D
Love these detailed and historical videos Jingles!
This thing rocks.
During the beta weekends I managed to kill a BB with it. Did it with nothing but HE. Set him on fire or knocked out some critical system every other shot. By the end of it I had knocked out all his main guns, multiple of his secondary battery guns and he was burning from bow to stern.
Loving these videos Jangles. Keep em coming mate.
Louis= Loo-is in america as its named after a city, Lou-e in europe as thats how King Louis pronounced it (americans say lou-e for him as well), loo-ees in mexico.
So the St. Louis is like the TOG: a slow, half-assed design with fantastic firepower
:3
I'm look forward to when the British Royal Navy ships start to appear in the Tech Tree. More specifically, the Nelson-Class Battleships, HMS Nelson and HMS Rodney. Rodney contributed to the sinking of battleship Bismarck with over 40 broadside shots fired and scored from her main armament. HMS Nelson, Jingles. Fellow Geordie. :P
Great vid Jingles! What an interesting cruiser.
That ship shots 105 rounds a minute!! With 14 guns
More fun loading up the HE and watching them burn. Every full salvo is an almost guaranteed fire. Then you can switch to AP to do some serious damage while they are burning.
The U.S.S. Louis....the TOG II of the U.S. Navy. It's old, slow, but it's firepower is Epic!
Hah, funny how you said the real-life Milwaukee snapped in two after a storm. when at the point of death in this game the "Louis" did the same....COINCIDENCE?! I THINK NOT!!
