Finally, a gospel lesson that doesn't start with a complicated demonstration that is broken down into little complicated bits. I'm actually encouraged by this. I stand a chance of playing it! Thank you!
You said it and AMEN!!! You have to wait to get through their complicated and fancy solo example, become intimidated by Satan, and then halfway through you just want to give up. SATAN IS A LIAR! No disrespect to anyone who teaches; but, this young man broke it down simply in order for understanding how to flourish once you learn it. To God be the glory.
A couple months ago I watched this and went man he’s going too fast no way I’m getting this. Now I just practises playing scales and chord progressions and it actually came easy. Progress is really such an amazing this on an instrument and really motivates to push further.
You do a great job breaking it down and teaching it step by step. (I was a piano teacher for 15 years - classical a little of basic jazz) I'm trying to expand my church piano playing styles. I like to mix it up. So this is helping a great deal. Thank you!
With my new found love for Jazz, Gospel, and Neo-Soul: this demonstration has brought understanding to the structure of Gospel and inspires me to try this excercise! Wish more lessons were made in this fashion. Brilliant!
Gracious! How is this for beginners?? Have to pause and rewind every few seconds to try and find the notes he’s playing. Goes so fast 😳 kuddos to those who can keep up
I love how on this channel whether it's you or the female both of you always show several notes and then play a beautiful piece out of them that I learn pretty easy and I would say I'm still very a beginner because I can't read sheet music.
Hello, Thank you for this beautiful video. My name is Cedric and I currently live in Paris, I already play the piano for 5 years but I would like to learn and deepen the gospel and I would like to know how I could have gospel lessons on pianote and how the accompaniment could be done. Thank you very much ☺️
Incredible! Having lived in North Carolina for over 7 years (and San Antonio since 2007) I've long since held a deep respect for gospel music, particularly those who perform it well. Very soulful. Perhaps a lesson on a gospel waltz?!
Wow!! Where you been? I was looking for someone to explain left hand movements !! Thanks my left hand is so bad lol this fir sure is going to help me!!
Was wondering how to use the lower octaves but still have an uplifting feel = just started tinkering on the piano so def gonna follow this video and learn the patterns :) much gratitude !!
Love 💙 Blues music. But never realized how cool, and similar sounding, Gospel music can be. Interesting. Something new for me to practice. Thank you very much 👏👍😁.
I heard syncopation that expands the harmony and rhythm at the same time. I heard nothing "trashy" about the way you play. Right now, the big help for me is setting up a regular progression by experimenting with different chord tones.
If this becomes a series then I’m in, I do the things you’re talking about here naturally di it World be great to add and refine what I do with some good knowledge, also great teaching by the instructor really enjoyable concise and to the point
Thank you!!!!!! This is a genre I want to explore! I play a lot of traditional style hymns, am dipping into classical but love gospel as well. I really appreciate the written music on your video too, bc I don't really look at the keys when I'm playing. Also, I play a pipe organ and love it, but I'm mystified by jazz organs and would love to see an instructional on how to play gospel on an organ. I can turn the tremulant up and pull stops to mimic a jazz organ sound but because Ive learned more traditionally, I don't know how to "sound" gospel style. Your video here gives me a start on gospel on piano at least. Thanks ❤️!

Exactly.
Idk what to tell you. Gospel music is complicated? Lmao

I definitely agree!!
Whoever reading this, I pray for you that God visits your home today with Healings, Blessings, and Miracles. Amen.💕

You can find this chord progression in a song called " Don't leave just Yet" from Needtobreathe. Exactly in the chorus of the song at the end.
Excellent! Just what I was hoping for: a few techniques to get a basic gospel feel (and I'm very glad you assumed we already know how to play chords!)
Was wondering how to use the lower octaves but still have an uplifting feel = just started tinkering on the piano so def gonna follow this video and learn the patterns :) much gratitude !!
