Lupus itself does not cause depression or anxiety. The effects of Lupus attacking other organs might make someone depressed and anxious but Lupus alone isn't known for directly causing either.

Hmm, didn't know she did drugs. I know demi used to but I didn't think selena did. Though I will say this, the meds one takes for Lupus or any of the organs it damages, are worse than the illness itself.
Personally, my mom has lupus. depression and anxiety may not be a direct effect or lupus but when you're constantly weak it does get overwhelming. She also may just have depression and anxiety as something else. Don't always jump to conclusions.
I've had Lupus for the past 7 years. So it's not jumping to conclusions. I do suffer from depression and anxiety but it is a product of a combination of meds and how life is going. For example, while everyone my age is in college, I had to get a transplant because my Lupus destroyed my kidneys. So I don't doubt that she or your mum suffer from depression, but it's not a direct result of Lupus.
