    You don't record the Cab, and use headphones to mix! You are one smart "Bad Boy" who really knows how to use his equipment. Proof that talent, skills, good ears, and musicality will get you there. Thanks for sharing your work flow, recording, and mastering techniques. I think everyone who hears you on RUclips has got to be impressed by how good everything sounds! Your advice to keep it simple, and start off with good sounds, is proof of the saying "If it sounds good, it is good." You put in the work, and you're getting excellent results. That must be extremely satisfying. It sure makes for a wonderful listening, and educational experience of this end. Thanks 😎

      Yeah a good reactive load with a good IR is the same than a good cab with good speakers mic’d by a professional engineer and that’s exactly what the Suhr Reactive Load & Jens’ IRs are 👌😎.
      Exactly👌. Thanks!

    I think it sounds great. The levels are great, the balance is great, all the instruments cut-thru cleanly in the mix, it's punchy, I can't find anything wrong with it. It sounds totally professional, and we all know your playing is top-level... so the final product is going to be great! You have a fantastic setup over there! And you know how to use it. I tried to do the same thing 20 years ago, but I was lacking some pieces to make it all work. Today, musicians have more options that are affordable. The digital/computer stuff is studio-quality now. So many great plug-ins, it's hard to pick which ones to use!

      Well what was really cool too for people is you going over the use of HPF/LPF. I mean, I've been recording for like 30+ yrs and only in the last 10-12 years have I really started using copious amounts of filters and actually have some nice h/w filters as well. But with the incredible software these days it's never been easier - I started on tape, before DAWs lol. You mention a few times "you can't really hear it" but you know the small change is there and a mix is cumulative. So if you're cutting out a lot of unnecessary energy across several tracks, you're just creating more headroom in the end, which is obviously great and why your tracks sound so clean ;) I for one have found that anything above 6600hz on e-guitars doesn't really do much (personally) and I guess that's why Randall Smith chose that frequency as his highest point on his graphic ;) There's actually a graph I used to have that showed the frequencies of most instruments and recall it being noted there as well.

    Thanks for sharing this with us. It is always fascinating to look behind the scenes and demystify the process. Maybe a question: How do you decide which tracks you double track and which not? Also, does it make sense to double-track the bass? Looking forward to more behind the scenes and recording tips.

    • @EugeValovirta230V
      @EugeValovirta230V  3 года назад +1

      Glad to hear this man!
      I basically always double track rhythm - and clean guitars and pan them L/R. And harmony / melody guitar ’cos it’s quite hard to create a harmonized melody line with just one guitar 😎. So basically everything except the actual solo but sometimes I double / harmonize parts of a solo to bring some excitement etc.
      It doesn’t make much sense to double bass since it’s usually in the middle of a mix with kick & snare so two separate bass lines in the middle would sound kinda messy 😊.
      But many times I double everything just in case ’cos it’s harder to add stuff during mixing (especially if the mix is done by someone else) than leave something off.
      I’m planning to do more videos about recording & mixing in the future 👌.
