I am in luuuuuv with you! I started knitting 60 years ago at the age of 12. Finally discovered some one who is all about the freedom and joy of using color, stitches, texture etc. serendepitiously! Fix as you knit, not always necessary to RIP and start over. This video refreshes my joy for knitting.

I have been so intimidated by your patterns for so long (so many colors! So many new techniques! So much to mess up!!) and yesterday I finally got brave and purchased this one! I got all my yarn caked and I’m so excited to CO! This video is so encouraging and I’m feeling much less intimidated. I can’t wait to watch my shawl grow!

He is unbelievable! I saw some of his work but I was never enough brave to try knit it myself :-) I think these videos are really great and helpful idea!
First off, I love that bright neon yellow. It reminds me of my childhood and the splattered paint sunglasses I had and my Boy George sweatshirt w/glitter, that my grandma bought me. Whew! . Second, I'm not knitting this yet. But now I can't wait ! The tips are wonderful amd I've learned alot from watching. But before this shawl I have to knit your Painted Bricks shawl because I already have the yarn for that. ☺

My first ever Stephen West piece. Excited and nervous. So many new techniques for me already on the first clue. This is so great ! 😍
For the icord cast on, you don't actually have to slip the stitches back to the left needle if you're using circulars! Just slide them down the cable until they're on the left needle! You'll see the working yarn ends up in the same place (farthest from the tip) as if you'd slipped the stitches back the regular way.

My very first Stephen West MKAL!!!!! I’ve been waiting 6 months with anticipation!!!! I’m excited and now after this 1st clue, I’m having a hard time going to sleep so I can begin fresh in the morning!!!! Yes I did panic a little and got a wee bit of a headache 🤕... but it’s only because I’m tired and will have a hard time deciding on cc1 and cc3 - ready for the challenge

Oh my goodness, this is so exciting. Was considering staying up til midnight to get going, glad I got some sleep in, cause here it is, clue 1, and I am ready for it!!! Also, trying not to freak out.
It's a really fun first section. Once you get used to the rhythm and numbers, it becomes a nice intuitive pattern repeat.
I know you said to not freak out, but I jumped into the party late and my yarn hasn't even shipped yet! Might have to start a version with stash yarn, this is just too amazing. Thank you for being there for us. You are a gem. 💕

Suggestion: if you are having difficulty picking up the stitches the method Mr. West is using, you can use a small crochet hook and pull the yarn through the legs of the iCord and pick the loop up with your needle.
