Love it! She's actually a 210. You can tell by the short stainless on top of the fin. The trim was all added by somebody along the line just like I did to mine. I've had it since I was 10 in 1979. They're great cars and fun to own. I pull a travel trailer with mine. That thing coming off the exhaust was a blending pipe that went in front of the engine to the other side of the exhaust system giving a better sounding tone than two separate pipes one on each side.
Yes, and the tailgates on the 150/210 models were different than the Nomads. I know the Nomads had vertical chrome trim stripe on the tailgate, but wasn't the tailgate itself also at a steeper angle?
The one I had was a Beliar with gold trim on the side embllems on the fenders, gold grill, all of the words that said Beliar were gold in color on the car inside and out with the V -8 emblems being gold on front and back... I put a 283 bored out to 292, ,4 speed Munci trans wide ratio, 2.54 low gear, 63 chevy shifter plate that said 327 on it. 3.55 rear gear, ran great for a heavy car, also, it had factory tinted windows, kind of greenish...
The very best metal you can get very reasonable tor the Floor Pans are old 30 -50 gallon Oil Drums. I have used many old Oil Drums in my rebuild projects and you can usually buy them for less than $20.00 a Barrel and they are a very high quality Alloy metal. they have to meet a certain quality to be used transporting oil. How many of you knew that old Rain Guttering is usually a lot better quality Metal when making Rocker Panels and other lower body panels? many times the curvature of the face metal is close to that of a lower kick panel under the doors.
While rebuilding that motor is no doubt a good idea, It could be made to run as is. I have a '63 Impala SS 327 4 speed that was acting very similar to this engine. I had a maximum of 80PSI out of all 8 cylinders, lowest was 60, and that was with oil in the cylinders. (It had been locked up, but i got it loose.) It would not start for anything; Tried for several weeks. I hooked the starter up to 24 volts with 2 batterys. That did the trick and she started after 2 or 3 cranks on 24v. Got some heat in it, and then it started of 12v. Ever since, the motor has gotten better and better, compression is now 170-180psi, not bad for a once locked up engine. It'd still be a good idea to rebuild it, but until then, I've been able to drive the car.
Like to see more love to see young guys working on old cars. Hope you do not go to far into rebuilding , good honing re-ring and bearing and a hotter camshaft for that sound. Making it a hot rod the way we FIXED IT back in the fun and run days.. Check those heads, valves will need work.
An old 57 Chevy station wagon is what I've been wanting for years..Some people think that they're a Nomad and they list em as a Nomad whentrying to sell em..Not even close to being a Nomad lol..Nomads was born with 2doors and a station wagon was born with 4doors unless it was built as a delivery wagon with solid panels from the front door back. I don't remember if the panel 57 Chevy wagons had just 2 regular doors or 4 but the Nomads roof slanted at the front doors instead of being square like a station wagon is..A Nomad has more of a body style than a 4door station wagon which I always liked better than the Nomads..
@@low_rancho_customs I could tell you did. Just from my experience, it works. At least for a bit. I love that wagon! Can't wait to see what you do with it!

Its out of time! You should of put a 4 field stater on it instead of the two field starter you put on it. The 4 field stater has a lot more cranking amps, they came out on big blocks...
How many of you know you can improve your cranking power by doubling two batteries in line during Cold weather and your vehicle will start a lot better. That is why on 12 Volt Diesel Trucks they sometimes run three and even four 12 Volt Batteries in the extreme cold weather. you take two 6 volt batteries and hook them up on a twelve volt system as a twelve volt set up and you will fine the two six volt batteries are far better than one twelve volt. the same as if you hook two batteries to serve as one with more voltage and amperage you will find they will last longer than a singled battery. Being an old Farm boy who worked around all kinds of engines and trucks we did a lot of experimenting many so called experts will say they will not work. Why do you think a 12 Volt 454 Motor Home has three Batteries along with a buster switch? There are thousands of ways to stop spending money every time you walk ut the door.
If you were smart I would have pulled the engine out and the transmission all at once and broke it down and put it back together again and at the time that you have the engine out you can high pressure under the engine
Thanks for your opinion, but motor was pretty toast rings where completely stuck, crank was toast motor needed to be rebuild so that is what’s happening.

Good info to know. Thanks for the education learn something new. Also plan to pull a trailer with this one.
Exactly. I noticed that immediately. Someone has put the Belair inserts on it. You can also verify it by the VIN number.

Love the ‘57 Wagons! That’s a 210, not a Bel Air. The stainless over the rear fins is a good indicator for that. Good luck!

I had a 9 passenger 57 wagon and drove it daily for 10 years. It got me through college and my first job.
Love this! Have you heard of a company called Danchuck? They specialize in all things chevy. Great work. Can't wait for part 2!

Thats a better power glide than what the 57 came out with a lot lighter, they make good racing trans.
You can buy a Fram oil filter kit to change it over to have a screw on oil filert like the newer cars have,ph 30...

What kind of semble is on the end of the heads? Rectagular with a dismond or two humps on the rectagular semble? What size are the vaves?
They used the 283 head on the 327. They aren’t bad they are just passenger car heads. But I got some 327 double jump heads that are going on it🤫
Should have put some oil down in the cylinders to build compression. Old girl sat for a long time and the rings were stuck.
Had marvel mystery and atf in cylinders for over a week before even tried.
