    Great idea!
    No toxic chemicals, readily available in many stores and even some supermarkets. Definitely going to try this.

    Questions! (amazing video, btw!) did they muddy up when you put the different color dyed yarns together in the in the same cup? And how did the colors hold up with time? Acid dyes are making me nervous but I want to dye more yarn... but I am worry if it will hold the color.

      Once the colours are fully heat set they are colorfast- so once they are dyed and in the same cup they are fine, just if they went back on the heat with more dye it would take. I haven’t washed this exact ball much but I have wool several diaper covers I dyed with food colouring that have been washed a ton and the colours have held up great! As long The process is done right with heat and acid, it will hold. Good luck with your dyeing!!!

      Oh the acid In acid dying is household vinegar.

      @@DAYBROK3 Or citric acid powder. Its cheaper because you can use less of it. You can grab it on Amazon :)

    If you don't have a Swift, it is possible to wear the Hank of yarn around your neck and just take it with you as you make the giant Circle.

    • @KendraMakes
      @KendraMakes  6 лет назад

      It may be possible if you can keep tension on the hank- otherwise I would be worried about it pulling too tight on your neck! I think if you were careful you could hold tension between your hands as you go around but it would be challenging to get the yarn where it needs to go!

    Interesting technique, I didn't even know you could use the same pan.
    One question though: do the colors last long or fade easily?

    • @KendraMakes
      @KendraMakes  4 года назад

      I haven’t had any issues with fading but have heard others say the food dye will fade more quickly.

    I really want to try this method! Also, I noticed the no name brand of vinegar, so you must be in Canada, lol :D Just wondering if you buy yarn by the hank, or if you get it on a spool and make the hanks yourself. I've been trying to find some place in Canada to get them.

    • @KendraMakes
      @KendraMakes  6 лет назад

      I buy them in the hanks. This batch is from Acme Fibres in Ontario.

    Is this acrylic yarn or blended yarn

    • @KendraMakes
      @KendraMakes  6 лет назад +1

      80% merino/20% nylon. Food colouring should work with any animal fibre :)

    Very interesting. I’ll look at your other videos. Where did you get the yarn?

    • @KendraMakes
      @KendraMakes  6 лет назад

      This yarn came from Acme Fibers but any light coloured wool should work! I've used the same with Lion Brand Wool Ease sock yarn from Michaels and been happy with the result too 😊

    If you don't have. Yellow how do you make. A yellow dye

    • @KendraMakes
      @KendraMakes  6 лет назад +2

      You can't make primary colours: yellow, blue or red. Guess you will need to pick one up or use a different colour 😊. Good luck!
