What's your favorite mast for POTA? Do you use a mast for POTA?
This will for sure be in our POTA/SOTA kit for most activations!

I know this is a @hamradiotube K8MRD mast but it really needs a K4OGO Coastal 20 attached to it.
    😂😂😂
Mike showed me the prototype to this in Dayton, great video guys!

Watched your video about it! With the contacts you made, it obviously was working fine business for you! Hope to try it out sometime!

@@HamRadioDuo Hihi it’s an okay antenna but you can build several better ones with that mast. I was just hoping Mike would see that comment so I could poke him a bit 😂

Nice! Mine just shipped (finally!!). I have the tactical mini from sotabeams. I love the end loop on this new mast! A few ounces and an inch shorter may seem insignificant but those of us in the hobby know if you worry about the ounces the lbs take care of themself

Very nice! I have a shorter one...a 4.1 meter mast but it works great for my current needs. It does not hurt to check out the ligther one. I have my homebrewed spike to hold my mast too. Have fun at the festival.

We just ordered the spike to go with the POTA20 and will be happy to not have to guy wire it each time! 73, Becky and Mike

Generally I have only used wire antennas for POTA when near my car and I have used the TN07 mast on either a trailer hitch mast mount or drive-on mast mount (depending on what vehicle I am in). I have been looking for something like this though for traveling where I want to be able to use something more than a vertical or potentially SOTA if I ever get up on a peak (my one attempt last year on North Mountain in Arizona I aborted when I started getting a leg cramp, apparently 3 liters of water in the AZ heat wasn't enough and I wasn't in-shape enough).
    Keep the great videos coming!

We have used the POTA20 mast on several activations already. At Hamfest, Jason (K8MRD) had a single ground spike for us to try and also he said he just leans it on a tree which has been great for a quick set up. Sorry to hear about your SOTA attempt. Heat is no joke when hiking up a mountain! Glad you played it safe. Thanks for watching :-)

Another excellent video. Mike may I say I am concerned with the fir tree you have at the corner of your house. We have friends who had many fir trees in the garden the roots got into the sewage system and cost many thousands of pounds to repair the height of the tree is the length of the roots. The holiday bungalow we rent when doing care home visits back where we used to live. The bungalow had a tall fir tree close to it which was causing subsidence with large cracks in the building. I told the owner the story with our friends and he took the tree down large cracks all now settled. Sorry to post this on your video but did not want to see you with a big expensive bill! Enjoy the hamfest look forward to seeing the video. 73 Phil GØBVD UK

Phil, thank you for the observation. We think it is a Juniper but will for sure look into it further. Appreciate the concern :-) 73, Mike N4FFF es Becky N4BKY
