The road to becoming an empress is paved with treachery. Ruyi (Zhou Xun) is a consort who quickly learns to navigate the treacherous politics of the the royal court and move up the ranks. Can Ruyi maintain her role as Empress under such difficult circumstances? “Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace” is a 2018 Chinese drama series directed by Wang Jun. It is adapted from the novel Hou Gong Ru Yi Zhuan by Liu Lianzi and is a sequel to the critically acclaimed 2011 television drama “Empresses in the Palace.”

You're so right. I NEVER saw such brutality as in that scene after he had the most loyal soldier/guard .....well, you know and then had a special dinner made for Ruyi to taunt and hurt her. It was HORRIFIC!

She chose him as well! She chose to attend his bride selections, fully knowing he would choose her. Both are at fault for the problems they have over the years. While yes he did horrible things to her that are unforgivable, if she had been more open with him and fought back against those who plotted against her, things probably would not have been as bad as they turned out. She allowed him to be manipulated for years and never openly spoke about her feelings or acknowledged his, especially when the children passed away. In the end her life was not wrecked, she went out on her own terms and was finally able to live out the last of her days in the quiet she wanted.
@@myrtlesnow2397 If this is not wrecking then what is? You remember the scene where he is so blinded of lust for that girl who refused to marry him. He pleads to Ruyi to make that girl accept him. My heart was broken to pieces, then after getting that girl, he again went back to his harem full with new woman's. Tolerance level which must be immense in those times got severed in worst ways when she cut her hair and cut her ties. If that is not wrecking her to bits then what is... Nothing more to add... Anyone defending the king... I have no words to add.

I'm on episode 31 and had to come back to this part to refresh my memory. How innocent they looked here but you never know how a pretty face can be so ugly inside until you see their true colors.
I love Yanxi Palace and I started loving Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace (this drama) too. I loved how the characters were interpreted so differently in each. But as this drama continued it just got more and more frustrating, and by the end I was SO irritated.

rose sadly none. I’m no historian but according to my knowledege, the throne was passed down to princes not princesses. And most of them died really young. The last survivors are the competitor for the throne. As of this queen, all of her boys died. I think only one princess survived and married far away as a political marriage.

Langua was not even appealing or Xiyue until later in the series. Ruyi was always elegant and stunning .
I watched yanxi palace 4 times already. So excited I found another ancient time drama. Love them
It was the best drama and her plots too cunning and brilliant she is 😘 and I can't find other dramas
Nefo’s WORLD These are great dramas. However, Hao Lan, for example, goes through so much.. I have not been able to sit through the entire drama one episode after the other; just like this one 😂😅I watch some until I cannot tolerate any longer then stop 😂😅though they are great dramas; And they are excellent actors delivering excellent performances❤️💯👍👍🎥😁
I love Yanxi Palace too but this one but might be infuriating for you, the characters are actually largely the same as Yanxi Palace but from different perspectives so characters with good/evil intentions may be reversed. That’s not the part that made me upset though, Ying Luo in Yanxi Palace has plans and puts them into action, characters in this drama get done so dirty 💀

All dynasties before Qing has good fashion especially during Han dynasty. Man hair style was better that time.
@@Little_to_none I know right! It pains me to see the hairstyles in Qing Era! For me Han and the 6 kingdom Era styles are the second best after Tang
Because Qing dynasty was part of Mongolia tribe called Manchu so their fashion and style was also influenced. That half shaved, half braided hair is the worse

At first I didn’t think that I would enjoy this movie, but after the 1st two episodes I became interested. It’s an amazing story.

OMG my fav chinese drama. RUUUUYIIIIIII, that bastard did not deserve you *cries* i have watched this several times since first watching it in 2018, absolutely loved it. Hot passionate love in the beginning that makes everyone wish they had a love like this and then bam, sucker punches you. This drama may not have a HE but boy oh boy, i wouldn't trade my tears for a different ending because that is what makes this so memorable even though i do NOT do BE dramas, i tend to avoid them. RUUUUUYYIIIIIIII

Yes and no. Bound feet were banned by the Manchus and platform shoes were traditional Manchurian culture for women as elevated shoes prevented women from getting bitten by snakes. The horse hooves shoes are restrictive to some extent as high heels.

A lot of this cast is from a Empress of China- Hongshi the banished prince, Hailan, Ruyi’s best friend is also from there. In fact Fan Bingbing herself was supposed to be Ruyi, but the deal fell through.

Hongli had three consorts. Fuca, Nara and Ling. Yanxi and Ruyi focus on different times in Hongli's life.
