Australian here, he's fighting his own reflection. Roos are not very clever lmao. Also this is a red roo, they're only found in some parts of the country. Red roos are also unlikely to attack you unless they feel provoked or threatened. There's an animal sanctuary next to me that keeps red roos, and kids are allowed to walk up and pat them. I did this loads as a kid, and the only animals that ever attacked me there have been Cape Barren geese (actually a land-dwelling swan, vicious things). They rotate the population because they're not native where I live in Tassie and need to be culled so they don't destroy the ecosystem, so they feed the Tassie devils red roo meat from culled roos. Sounds grotesque, but is actually very sustainable practice and culling red roos is encouraged by many state governments and the federal government. Indigenous people have hunted them for 60k years, and so the ecosystem relies on humans culling roos a small amount. Eastern greys are more common and are way smaller and more timid. Wallabies are even more common than that, and are just mini roos. Still just as vicious to each other though. In Tassie we get pademelons, which are mini wallabies, and they will straightup claw each other's throats out over a mate or food during droughts. They hate each other, not humans. Humans confuse all marsupials a bit, because they can't comprehend the things we do
