That BK series is starting to become iconic. I'm starting to notice that style floating around. Ontario and ESEE look similar, condor Hudson. That BK comes to mind first when I think of that blade shape.
Nice to see you doing a demonstration of the Kabar E. Becker BK 9! Especially after you have tested all those wonderful, modern WortTuffGear - knives the test proves, that neither 1095 CroVan nor the Kabar Becker BK - Series, and especially the BK 9, are irrelevant or outdated. The BK 9 is a classic, I count it in one row with the Cold SteelTrailmaster. But the BK 9 is -again- not a cheap knife here in Germany. You pay give or take € 150,-- for the stocl knife, plus 70,-- - 110,-- Euro for the handle scales. And for more than € 250,-- you are able to get knives that do look much more modern and tactic-y, and more shiny. And you know that men love nice, shiny things... I love the BK 9. and I particularly love the modifications Chris Tanner of the channel "Preparedmind 101" did to his old BK9. He stripped the coating off the blade, something I would love to do to all the knives I own with coating, especially with the rough, black "friction coating", because I do love shiny things. He blued the blade, what I would not do, I just would coat the blade with Eagle Tears, since I found a source for their coating paste here in Germany. He also added wodden handles back then, what gives the knife a classy, old school look. Aaah, and he removed the ramp, he sanded it down. With this modifications the BK 9 does look killer! Not that the original is not a real good knife, it sure is, and it is a chopper and slicer. And it is on my list, for sure. #22aday Stay safe everybody, and stay blessed. Greetings from Germany!
I stripped the coating off my BK7 and put wooden handles on it. Will be stripping the coating off the BK9 as well once Scab sends it back to me, but I'll stick with the micarta scales. I'm also going to put after market scales on that RD9 Scab reviewed a couple days ago, and probably will strip the coating on it as well. Not a fan of the traction coatings on knives. I'd be ok with a DLC type coating, but the powder coating doesn't hold up well, and gets wood splinters embedded in it.
@@timbo4374 No matter if you use wodden handles or Micarta, it just is a huge improvement over those injection molded plastic handles. The nice thing is, that you can get the knife first, do your modifications, and make up your mind about the handle scales you like. I find the BK9 is a great kind of project knife.
Bushcraft people seem to prefer smooth rounded handles on their knives. It reduces hot spots when doing a lot of wood carving. That's what I have noticed in bushcraft videos.👍👍⚓⚓🇺🇲🇺🇲
The BK9 is a great knife. I had one and used it a lot until I got my Esee Junglas. I just prefer it way more and sold my Becker. Not taking anything away from the Becker though. Just a personal preference thing that had more to do with the handle on the Esee being more suited to my big ole hands.
@@little2826 quite often I will go out with my Junglas and Izula. It’s all I need. A big one for chopping/batoning and the small one for close up, detailed slicey stuff or food prep. Hope you’ve been well my brother.
#22aday some early morning badassery is always a good thing. Great knife I'm bad at getting caught up in the new shinney bell of the ball and buying all kinds of knives but the truth is this knife would do anything you want and then some. Love the demo and the knife can't go wrong with Kabar thanks Scab.
I’m working evenings this week but I will definitely try to catch some of tonight’s livestream… sounds like a good one. I’m interested in “meeting” Zeke.
Definatly a great knife, I love mine but I had to fo a few mods on it, removing some if the coating, roughing up the scales or putting tape on it, may end up replacing with micarta handles. Really considering putting in a choil on mine but I'm not there yet, put them on a couple of friend's knives and it really changes the feel of the knife (put choils on a BK7 and A BK9). Thanks for the look see and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable
I just got the bk9 and love it, just a amazing piece of cutlery, going to add macarta scales and she will be good to go, awesome video brother #22aday 🇺🇸✌
Just bought the BK13 harpoon that thing is a beauty and it gets the job done. Hasn't disappointed. Real sharp out the box i cut myself a few times. Becareful handling this beckers
I limbed up some boo with mine a while back and it was great. 11:00 couldn't tell but ain't no way I'm getting near any vines. I look like I'm made of bacon when I get near poison ivy/oak
I still love my BK9. Aside from having a kydex sheath made for it, I keep the handles stock because I have matches& striking pads and fishing line & hooks inside the skeletonized handles, I carry an fallen key if I need access to it.. If I know I'm going to bu using my BK9 for an extended period of time, I just put hockey tape on it , and then take it off later. I've had Micarta handles and I feel it throws off the weight slightly, so I like to keep it the way it is. It'z my best & favorite knife I have.
I'm a huge fan of the knife I have one that I haven't cut anything with yet LOL and I really don't want to just saving the edge but next camping trip it's going well
@@choirboyzcutleryoutdoors Yeah man, I gotta get one another one. I haven't stripped the coating off mine but honestly I do like the rough coating. it's on there for a reason and I won't strip mine until it's starts to look really ugly after a lot of usage.
I really really like this KaBar, that blade geometric makes it a scabber chopper for sure, great job dude glad you finally got it in hands.
Yes, it's still rocking the factory edge.

GREAT REVIEW Scabb! Mine's arriving this Saturday... And I can't wait!!!❤
Thank you my brother! Super appreciative for you
This has been my EDC bag blade for a year now. It’s practical , tactical and badassery!
Amen Brother Amen!
The ka bar name is one of legend and for good reason! Thank you bro!!!
The Becker 9 is such an awesome classic. Micarta made a big difference on my BK 2.. worth the price.💥💥💥

The Junglas is a hell of a knife. I keep it next to my izula as a joke.

I have got to get the jungles, just a amazing look and built like a tank, stay strong my northern brother 🇺🇸🇨🇦✌
@@donavantew8278 it’s right up your alley brother. It will kill a lot of jugs and the nice thing is, it isn’t so pretty that you’d hate to use it.

I had a BK7 that I modified. Great knife. Ethan Becker designed a great knife platform.
I really need to get a BK7 really curious about it now
Looking pretty good there slim. Keep the discipline ol'boy! Never give up!
Much appreciated my brother!!
I don't own any of the BK line up but they are definitely on the list
Did very well for the demonstrations and looks pretty great knife overall . Definitely a beast of a knife and be a do all knife for bushcraft.

Damn straight
It is so smooth to chop. an exellent knife.
My bk9 has one wicked fkn edge on it. Have the g10 handles from TKC on it. Love that blade. But also love my Junglas too. Both are badass blades
Great performer. It’s definitely big too lol. Would make a pretty good camp knife. Nice demo. 👍
