I am looking into Going to ISU as a freshman. I am an international student from DRC, and I would like to know how you find the university. Is the city calm or pretty enjoying? are the classes full of students or kind in the middle?
Hi Monica, I love that you applied to ISU and are an international student from DRC! Mwana mboka! I find the university quite nice, it's a PWI (Predominantly White Institution) after all so keep that in mind being a student of color, it will be a place you have to get adjusted to. The city is quite calm given that it's very small, so it doesn't give big city vibes at all however there are things you can find to enjoy here. I wouldn't say the classes are always full of students as it depends on what type of class it is. The classes in big lecture halls are mostly full of students as they are big, however, classes such as labs or recitations tend to be smaller.

Hi! Congrats on your admission to Iowa State :)! Yes Iowa is a pretty cold state during the winter times I won’t lie however if you dress according to the weather then it shouldn’t affect you much. In my experience so far, I’ve yet to face any discrimination however there exists some bias at times just like anywhere else.
