  • Well, Hurricane Beryl, now a Category 4 storm, is approaching Jamaica with devastating winds and heavy rainfall after causing significant damage in the southeast Caribbean.
The storm, downgraded from Category 5, has already led to fatalities and widespread destruction in Grenada and northern Venezuela. Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness has declared a major disaster area, closed airports, and enforced a curfew for public safety.
Beryl's early-season intensity highlights the impact of climate change on severe weather. As the storm moves westward, hurricane warnings are in effect for the Cayman Islands and Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. Jamaican officials are calling for global climate action and support for vulnerable regions as Beryl continues to pose significant threats
