This is something I think merits further investigation. The full life-cycle of cheap, midrange and expensive guitars made nowadays. The way a lot of 'tonewood' being harvested is 'illegally' obtained, destroying forests and local communities in the name of 'development', so most (mass-production) new guitars are not produced in a sustainable way. That alone could mean that the 'arium' these guitars are made of could be a better solution (for the moment) for many wanting to buy a new guitar.
It depends on what it is made out of and what other alternatives exist to make guitars from. I've heard electric guitars made out of plywood that don't sound bad in certain contexts because they had proper pickups basically. If the 'arium' material lasts forever and cannot be broken down in any way, it might not be that much of a good alternative in the long run. If you want something 'traditional', go with maple or birch for example. That said, these guys have a good story, a nice looking production process that is very likely producing some great instruments that last you a lifetime. All things considered, they do it at a pretty reasonable price (guitarists are usually spoiled compared to other musicians).

Very curious... would love one, but it’s a high price risk. Not a slam or criticism, it’s just that the nature of your business essentially being a custom shop doesn’t leave much option for trying one prior to placing the order. Really dig that there’s no wood, or damage to the planet, and these videos are fantastic. Keep it up!

K -Ray if you’re seriously interested in one and want to try one out, contact the Aristides Facebook group and see if you live near anyone who owns one. We are all very open and willing to let people try ours if your in our area. Most of us who own them started by buying a used one and reselling it. That’s probably the best option to getting into one. The R series ones also may have a return policy, check reverb for when they are put online.

As someone who doesn't know how to play, I'd never experienced the feeling guitarists get when they hold guitars and can tell if it feels right, plays amazing, is set up vs. not set up etc... I had no frame of reference or years of experience to develop a "feel" for what worked best for me.... until I held an Aristides. As soon as I held my friends, I knew it was the nicest guitar I ever held in my hands.

Not really. I bought a Fender Ultra Strat for 3000, for a grand more you seem to be getting a lot of bang for your buck. Nobody has bought one and said anything bad about it that I can find, they sound killer, and its fully customizable. You choose everything on it... A guitar like that from other makes would cost way more. I think a lot of this hate comes from guitar traditionalists... and i get it, i don't think wood guitars are going anywhere. But its cool that people are doing new and exciting stuff, and a guitar unaffected by climate or humidity that doesn't sound tinny, gimmicky, or like a piece of shit in general is super cool. Incredible. I wish I could afford one of these incredible instruments. Every year I play them at NAMM and I'm blown away. Little thing, tone wood on electric really doesn't effect the tone. Of course the build quality and construction of the guitar effects sustain and how it performs, but it doesn't effect the tone like it does on an acoustic, especially something as small as the fret board.
