    Hi Subscribed. can you do a video on glasses that are lightweight for higher prescription around -6-7 as the larger the frame the bigger the sides. I know about high index but would like to know about what frames you would choose thanks

    As a woman who is mixed race, afro caribbean, who needs a wider bridge, on the larger side of women's frame/small to regular men's frame sizes, has very small ears but needs a longer arm length do you have some budget friendly advice.
    Also looking to have some kind of transition lens to aid for health issues.
    Any advice for an awkward person would be great 👍

      Definitely go for Eco Eyewear! They are inexpensive, tend to have long temples and wide bridges and come with a sunclip so they work as sunglasses! Email me if you'd like more help or information :) rob@thespectaclefactory.com

    Thanks, very interesting and inspiring - makes me want to get a new pair, though I just did). Excellent comments, I just wish there were some insights into Women’s frames, though a lot of the frames you show are unisex. I love my old BP Birdie, excellent quality, no problems after 4 years of wear.

      Hey Natalia,
      I fully agree with you and I'd love to showcase more ladies frames - but it's hard to do when I can't model them. I still try to get them in my videos when I can - and I do offer personal styling consultations for ladies of course ✌️

    Coming from having my first pair, acetate glasses, from 4 years ago, I’m now looking into rimless and thin-rimmed glasses because I kept getting distracted with the tortoise shell of my old boxy pair. 😅 (the reason why I stopped wearing glasses. Is there a way to get around that?) Now in your opinion they might look or feel old, but I would prefer to settle for comfort if those acetates will develop in me a lazy eye. I feel that the bigger problem would be the fit (width, nose, temple) and choosing a fashionable pair from what actually fits. Those ones you featured look cool. Reykjavik Eyes’s flexibility (was it that one?) seems great. And the Eco’s form is a thing of beauty.

  • @JohnnyB43
    @JohnnyB43 Год назад +2

    Yeah the glasses that you designed yourself suit you very well - good job.
    Definitely the slight tint is very nice and adds to them.
    Though I was told that a disadvantage to rimless or top rim / frame only glasses is that if you are prone to dropping your glasses, or them falling off, well they are much more likely to get damaged / chipped. Is that true? 🤔
    cheers

    • @thespectaclefactory

      Thank you 😊I guess that is true, but how often do you drop your glasses?

    • @JohnnyB43
      @JohnnyB43 Год назад

      @@thespectaclefactory Actually drop them, not so often, but they fall off quite often [e.g. working on the bicycle or whatever - look down at a component and glasses slip off and now are on the ground]. Put them in coat pocket and they slide or jump out. That type of thing. Current glasses have had a lot of hard falls, but somehow seem unscarred. cheers!

    They all look nice on you. How do you manage to pull it off?
    Do you mind doing a review of Lindberg?
    They mimick a lot the Reykjavik. They're a die for too.

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  2 года назад +1

      Thank you, I think a lot of it is simply confidence! In my experience, it's a state of mind that people get into thinking that most glasses don't suit them, when in fact the opposite is true. (At least, it's true when the frames are as nice as the ones featured here) hence my point about the shape not being that important.
      Lindberg - I'm personally not a fan although I can appreciate the quality. It's a personal thing and my opinion might change in the future

    1:36 no narrow rectangles...unless maybe with a suit
    8:13 I have to disagree based on my anecdotal experience. My Boss Orange's spring hinges have held strong after 7 years continuous daily use. They have even survived hits at hardcore mosh pits, while my acetate arms bent.
    10:25 A light tint for frameless glasses is an excellent idea mate!

    Why do Rimless Glasses come across as Old-Fashioned?

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  Год назад +2

      Mainly because most people who wear them are trying to hide the fact they wear glasses - which is a very old fashioned perspective.
      But if you wear bold rimless frames - for example Cartier, or add a tint or unusual shape, then that is definitely not old fashioned.

    • @theapexpredator157
      @theapexpredator157 Год назад +1

      @@thespectaclefactory I see... so it's not the Style itself, but Rather, the Desire to Not Broadcast that one is Wearing Glasses at all - which is considered Old-Fashioned. I think that desire comes from a place of wanting to avoid looking "bad." If I had to say what makes Glasses look Old-Fashioned or Antiquated, it would have to be the Bar on top similar to what Aviator's have.

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  Год назад +1

      Style is always subjective, of course, and there is no science to it. But aviator styles with the double bridge are considered cool because you're embracing a retro look

      @theapexpredator157 Год назад

      @@thespectaclefactory Thanks for the response, I appreciate it. I agree with you that Style is in the "Eye of the Beholder" hehe, but I would say that there is some Science to it too, i.e. Aesthetics. I also believe that anything and everything is both Art & Science.
