Here I am five years later saying to myself this is still better than 90% of the “electro industrial experimental” crap out there today. Just mind blowing. I still have my DFM and I use it every day in conjunction with my other instruments. Still brilliant after all these years. Thank you again for making this.
Its Great to see how much people Love & Respect you skill and talent in the comments ,, i just cant stress how talented you are , your ear for sound & melodics are unreal , how you can create such melody with such a Primal Instrement such as the DFAM is a testement to your skill n Craft !!! 🤩🤩jaffa
Dhrunqlist thanks :) That’s too much. It’s all the DFAM’s magic not me! Glad you like it anyway mate. Much love to you too as well as to your avatar ;)
This is a certified banger! I can easily hear this mixed in to a techno set, with this as one of the high points. Keep it up. My DFAM arrives tomorrow and I can't wait!
@@EY-zz7xj Well, you're 10 minutes in to it with this track alone! I would love to hear what you would add to this to bring it up to a 42 minute album!? (42mins is perfect by the way - good target to aim for!)
Thanks! Well...Even if I wanted to, I couldn't explain and show this I guess, because that's quite embarrassing as I am VERY... irrational in terms of using Ableton correctly :-)
Yess, love that part, too. Was making this whole shit for about three weeks mainly with a mouse in Ableton. So basically all this is numerous layered dfam one shots and dfam loops. Too bad such tracks are impossible to achieve with live dfam jamming :)
Спасибо за трэк! Очень классные звуки извлекаешь из ДФЭМа.. the only weakness I can hear is - you can really hear the start and end of 8 step sequencer in most of the layers. I would (if I may) suggest having some sequences starting in different places (than the start of a clip), or having different number of steps, or running for (example) 3 times as long at 1/3rd of the speed , starting at a different point... I guess one of the problems for a lot of electronic music composers is gear and ableton keeping you in these boxes... Anyway - awesome track, really enjoyed it, I think you have real talent for sound design !!
Had to leave my dfam along with the rest of the gear due to bombings. Managed to take my octa only. So in future - if I find me a non-corporate laptop - everything will go on with this device only. Maybe sometime I’ll get back to dfam, too. Cheers. Glad you liked that one. It is one of special tracks to me :)
@@EY-zz7xj Great to hear you took at least that one. Couldn't find the right words. But I was thinking a lot about you in person the recent days, after discovering your channel and the unbelievable nightmare you are going though. What can one say these days, I wish you all the best. Please stay safe.
This is amazing man! Beautifully put together... I’m currently poised to pull the trigger on a Subharmonicon but this has got me a-thinking... Maybe a DFAM or 2 is what I need? Anyway, top choonage man, new sub here for thee. Peace ✌️
Thanks a lot and welcome :) Thought of sub too. In fact this track was created just using a single unit. No need for a few of them for such things. No jams here, just hundreds of samples and loops from a dfam arranged in ableton : )
Analog Monoxide thanks. Glad you liked it. That’s my inspiration :) After spending a lot of hours and days, I realize that one positive comment or Like under one of my full tracks is much more important for me than ten likes under live jams :)
EY, what Moog do you think I should acquire first? Mother32, DFAM or the Subharmonicon? I fell down the desk top synth rabbit hole a year ago and recently discovered your work and others with Moog instruments. Very inspiring stuff I must say, much respect... your opinion is much appreciated as my limited budget means maybe one instrument every 6 months if I’m lucky.... thx for the great tunes!
Jack Long thank you man. Glad you like that! Welcome :) well I would personally suggest dfam, and another dfam after 6 months :D Got two of them. Wanted mother but ended up with these two. It all depends on your approach to music making and your goals. The three pieces are different and are beautiful each in its own way. Mother is perfect for melodic things. Dfam has really versetile sound pallette but is meant to make techno grooves straight away and hasgot only 8 steps. Subharmonicon’s sequencer is unbelievable. Ideally I would want to have a dfam with the subharmonicon’s sequencer :)
Thx! Well... two many tracks to count :) lots of percussion and one shots are on sep tracks. Some are doubled for shifting (for stereo effect). The “pads” alone (at the end) for example” are of three of four tracks, note by note. Really irrational process, with occational project freezes due to overload :)
Hey. Thx. Glad you like it. Feel free to drop a line via the soundcloud ( the link should be available on this YT channel), and I’ll try to share the wav file.
EY, your tracks with DFAM are devastatingly groovy! How are you recording into Ableton? Are you bpm-synced to Ableton's clock? If so, how? If not, then I guess you are just recording live sessions in at DFAM's own bpm, and then sorting out the mix later. Anyway, cheers a bunch for your work ; ) !!!!
pdautg glad you like it :) they are synced but in a weird way. Earlier I used to send pulses to trigger dfam from the audio interface. Now I trigger it via sync out of minilogue. Not really lots of live loops here. Lots of chopps and one shots instead. Because I needed too many sounds for this, even pads. Also, it is almost impossible to make a track with dfams own bpm unless you are using a complete modular setup I guess. I at least need the bpm sync to use proper delays timing. Cuz every fx is from ableton.
@@EY-zz7xj dude, thanks for the breakdown. i think i hear you. lots of chops and one shots. cheers buddy. I really thinking hard about getting this kit. Your mixes with it sound like all the sounds are from different machines. ; ) best wishes to ya!
pdautg yep, dfam ends up delivering muuuuuuch more diverse sounds than I could expect from a percussion synth. Though ableton heavy editing is the case here too. Cheers and good luck with your future jams :)
Absolutely brilliant! I purchased a DFAM last month based largely on some of your videos. Unfortunately, I ended up returning it as I don't have the chops that you do and I don't have patience to do a bunch of post-editing in software. I wanted a more performance oriented machine, but the sounds that come out of this magic box, particularly as you demonstrate, are my favorite of all from the synth universe.
I see. I understand you totally. Sitting in Ableton for dozens of hours is just what I got used to. And yes DFAM is one of the most juicy things I've ever heard so far - but to perform a full LIVE track one has too explore and search a lot and then practice and remember and ideally have more than one unit for this. That's really a pain. That is why I love not only jamming but mostly using it as the sound source for sample chopping in Ableton.
Is this available anywhere else to listen to? I would love to listen outside of RUclips! Any EPs or Albums in the works? This is seriously a wonderful piece of music...
@@EY-zz7xj no they don't sound recognizable. The specific sound of this moog is so powerful and sharp. You also put together such a nice sequence.
