Thank you LIZ CHENNY AND MR KINZINGER for your commitment and honesty to uphold our democracy!
You identify as a man.
It is their duty.
Why did it have to come to this? Trump should be barred from holding any public office in the future.
The only public office for Trump should be Jail of some unspecified time...
i believe that its the goal... He really needs to be arrested
You can thank Mitch McConnell and the rest of his corrupt party for not making that happen.
IF REPUBLICANS would have voted to hold him accountable for the crimes he committed in office and removed him during EITHER of his 2 IMPEACHMENTS he would be barred from running for political office
It should have never come to this. He was impeached two times and both times he was kept in office by politicians who put party before their oath. He and his troop of followers will suffer, I hope, more than being barred to hold office again;. I hope they rot in jail for forgetting who they were supposed to be caring for.
i don't understand. these all sound like crimes. why isn't anyone going to prison?
That's why they are preemptively asking for pardons.
Yes it’s called treason- plain and simple
Well, just as regular courts, witnesses and testimonies need to be heard in order to... Send.... Someone... To... Jail
It has to be referred to a trial, and that is the job of AG Garland.
Thank you LIZ CHANNEY AND MR KINZINGER for your honesty and and commitment to truth and our precious domocracy!
The biggest fraudulent traitors of America running the jan 6th committee to hide their treasonous actions of voting scam , like New York illegal voting rights overturned by federal judge. Just one state allowing 900 thousand illegals to vote .
This whole thing isn’t just an embarrassment to the US but an embarrassment to the entire world
Agree Joe Biden is an embarrassment to the U.S and he is also the laughing stock of the entire world.
Way to conflate 5% with the other 95%. Nah, this is an embarrassment to the people that did it and enabled it. I feel more shame for the drone strikes we do than Trump's foreshadowed coup.
I have to admit I never thought something like this could ever happen in this country. As far as I’m concerned, anyone that continues to support this traitor clown is also a traitor to this country.

Today's Hearing has brought me to tears. How can officials ignore the oath they took? These officials must be held legally accountable for their actions against our Constitution.
Because they were loyal to an individual! This is exactly why they don’t want parties building golden statues of people… which the Republican Party DID DO! They honestly built a Golden Statue of Trump! So messed up!
@@perrinwilliams1296 Cripes...so messed up.
But what I noticed are the officials who DID NOT do that - who took their Oath seriously and refused to do what Trump told them to do. They are Heroes. "We thank them for their unflinching service" - people with integrity.
In response to that John Adams quote at the end...
It seems there are many more people (than I ever imagined) in this country that no longer desire self-governance and would rather be ruled by an autocratic king. I hope we can hold on to our beautiful democracy for a while longer so our kids can continue to enjoy it after we're long gone.

I'm not sure if we should always be always associating democracy as being synonymous with freedom, as it's definitely plausible for democracy to be subverted in order take that away. We all need to realize (if we don't already) that you don't get freedom for free, it takes persistence defending the first and keeping each other educated about the things that threaten it.
Many people think that protecting the first means banning people or silencing people that threaten them or whom support risky behavior..Perhaps even making certain types of information harder to get to. The other day I met someone who'd suggested that we should de-anonymize the internet despite them not having any idea how one could enforce that. If you truly support the 1st, then you'd understand that each of these situations are actually the opposite of what the 1st is supposed to enable.
To be clear, honoring the 1st means that you have to vehemently defend it against those that try to control it in these ways. The __only__ way to do this with regards to others whom take advantage of the 1st amendment...is through vigilance and constant awareness. Vehemently speaking out about right from wrong (wrong being people who're not altruistic), consistently correcting people who might be mistaken (everyone is human), and holding those that refuse to be corrected accountable (humility is totally a virtue).
Than you for your comments. You write very well and I like your message but you probably should examine the correct usage of "whom" and "who"! No offense intended.

Jan 6 committee day 5
Republican legislators lying to the public, face-on, as if they were the ones being cheated on and they were defending democracy when in fact it was the other way around as their lack of truthful evidence in court later showed, their supposed proofs were later debunked, and their cases thrown out because they were garbage.
There must be consequences for spewing lies and not-well-proven accusations and misinformation. There must be a limit to spreading conspiracy conjectures and falsehoods, at the very least with respect to the legitimacy of elections
and perhaps a few other critical aspects to democracy.
The reason I do not concur with you is that given social media, everything moves so quickly that conspiracy conjectures and outright lies and even coup attempts such as this one may well move too quickly to allow a proper response.
Additionally, the tendency of people to enter to a cult of personality towards a political figure, and to in general accept what they hear first (usually from their leader) and then strongly block their minds to later offers of legitimate truths and evidence, may well place saving a democracy squarely out of reach, where it will then stay (as in how Putin controls his people).
@@albertoozunacamacho730 (response inline)
> There must be consequences for spewing lies and not-well-proven accusations and misinformation. There must be a limit to spreading conspiracy conjectures and falsehoods, at the very least with respect to the legitimacy of elections
Yep. That's the weakness of the 1st...you can't have consequences for __any__ type of information. But the other aspect is that they're non-enforceable except through an aspect of capitalism/anarchy (free market regulation). If you even try to censor or obscure it in any way, it only creates a "black market" for that type of information (lmk if you want me to clarify this)...and that means that you can't even regulate it in the way you'd want to.
There are "ancient" solutions for enforcement, however, but they're just not used by information producers/consumers (for some reason). The two enemies of the 1st are "censorship" and excessive information (profusion? ..don't have a word for this). We're in the information age, and we need to understand this (honoring or to revere the 1st).
> The reason I do not concur with you is that given social media, everything moves so quickly that conspiracy conjectures and outright lies and even coup attempts such as this one may well move too quickly to allow a proper response.
You don't even need to use "social media" as an example. You can classify information into 3 types, "fact-based", "misinformation" (where the source is still altruistic..but wrong), and "disinformation" (where the source is __not__ altruistic). To be clear, determining the altruism is impossible. From these, though, you can), now classify "advertising" as one of these, as some can be considered "misinformation" with others as "disinformation". It's also relevant to note, that "fact-based" information has a cost to it that not everybody is willing to pay..and when information propagates, others do not have to pay that same cost (nor do people care to).
The only way to really distinguish something as factual is by experiencing something with all 5 senses instead of the more popular of 2, but not everybody considers that difference with regards to how you consume information. This has been frustrated by the death of local journalism with all of us observing in silence. This is likely because information monopolies provide us great services using the "currency" we can pay __only__ them with (because they have no competitors that take our currency).
There is one other place where we indoctrinate civilians through information (other than the Internet)...and there's still potential anarchy where everybody questions the things that they hear amongst each other...and that's in education. Afaict it's really the only other place this happens (lmk otherwise). Unfortunately there's a number of issues in education (with its own monopolies), with a number of opacities with regards to learning, and other issues as demonstrated by the rise of the certification industry and parasitic schools (that promise jobs/careers). There's resource issues that occur because the wrong benchmark is being used to reward schools (instead of the number of students, with schools competing for their participation...which is a different idea, though).
Regardless, public schools do not teach a number of systems that are ubiquitous, and as a result it has an effect where civilians are susceptible to disinformation when someone else "teaches" them otherwise. Only when all of us are indoctrinated similarly and fairly (through the the natural regulation of competition) will our capitalist democracy still be in reach and voting by consensus be effective. Ideally, information needs to come from us and propagate upwards, and not from the highest bidder downwards.
> Additionally, the tendency of people to enter to a cult of personality towards a political figure...
Apparently it is not ubiquitous knowledge that charisma can be trained, and training can be bought. There's aspects of psychology that are directly applied to marketing and public speaking, but it's considered higher education. We're living in the information age, and we do not fundamentally understand how the way that we learn things affects the way that we interpret them.
Clark: "5th."
Remind me again why people invoke the 5th amendment?
Or ask for presidential pardons ahead of time.

Time to get trump people out of Congress.

So well stated. Trump applied pressure at all levels of government, from local election workers to his own Vice President.
This shows that a mental competency & a citizenship civics test, along with full financial disclosure of records for 5 years, be required for each candidate at the Federal, State & local levels!!
Ms. Cheney please run for an office that will allow me to vote for you.

Thank you all. You have answered my pray from the day that Trump was offered up to run for President. That is the he be stopped. Thank you!
That's a pretty glowing review for a DOJ who has basically admitted they aren't planning any charges for any of this. Which means Fox News will get to once again pretend like that means everyone was innocent of any wrongdoing and this was a witch hunt.
Hugh, lets see if anyone in power actually goes to jail
thanks for having short commercials. I don't know why they have to be twice as loud as the video though.
Not their fault. Or even AdSense's fault. Advertising agencies crank up the volume for their commercials, on purpose. They're trying to catch and hold your attention. Most commercials on TV do the same thing, nowadays.
Its because they know people go to the bathroom or the kitchen during commercials and they want you to be able to hear them. Irritating!
Startling
“So important for the Justice Department to adhere to the facts and law.” Thank you to the DOJ leadership. I appreciate your service.

Rosen, Donahugh, and Engle. The country owes you a debt of gratitude.
Jeffery Sessions: " Now who's the fool?"

I listen to the hearings and I can't help but think of Robert Mueller and if he had only had the courage to stand up there was no doubt about what Trump was doing and what he was capable of I can't help but remember how Mueller was stuttering and being very careful about what he was saying is there any doubt in a reasonable mind seeing what Trump has done that Trump wasn't inclusion with valdemar Putin all of the secret meetings etc come on.
I was so disappointed in Mueller. So were most of the deputies working underneath his appointment.
I thought Bill Barr was the one who deciphered the Mueller report to slant in trumps favor? No?

DONT MAKE ME CALL STORMY!
The Trump cult here in the comments and chat is truly astounding. “One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken.
