Quake 4 will be Brutal Doom it has been anounced at quake con it will be old school FPS including NO RELOAD, double jumping.
Basicly old school Arcade shooter with melee finishers, rip & tear and lots of gore.
For those interested how doom 4 will look like type Brutal Doom in youtube and imagine those videos in ID tech 5.

this game would be scary, if there werent this kind of demons with guns and armor and stuff. i wish there were more demons like imp and maggot who love to come closer with melee attack. that makes this game scary :/
Doom isnt really supposed to be scary. Thats why i found doom 3 annoying because it didnt feel like a run and gun like the origionals. Im ok with trying a new formula but i couldnt get into doom 3 because of it
djcreeps121 I think the original Doom did have a fright factor it, but it wasn't the focus like Doom 3 was. While Doom 3 wasn't faithful to the original in a lot of ways, I think it's good for developers to branch out. People complain if a game is too different from the original and then people complain if a game is too much like the original.
i personally love doom 3. (playing sikkmod and coop mod nowdays) cause its one of the best horrors i've player and i just love it. i just dont like when you are running in halls and shooting like in cod. doom 3 is original game. there is no other game that looks like it or has same elements

I agree, I'm more into the run & shoot horror style that Doom 1 and Doom 2 have, instead of the survival horror style that Doom 3 has. I hope Doom 4 will be more like Doom 1 or Doom 2.

So it would appear Im the only one who actually "liked" doom 3, the horror elements were great all you had to tell yourself was "It's OK I still have bullets" and you could get through it no problem.
I just thought of something that would be so sick. What if they used "B.J." Blazkowicz's face as the Doomguy's face and as a health meter like in the original :D

***** por lo que leí, Carmack en una de las entrevistas afirmó que el juego volverá a las rutas del primer Doom, en ámbito jugable.
Será frenetico, sin weás(gamberradas, estupideces, chafa, etc) "realistas" (solo 2 armas, apuntar con la mirilla) con una grafica similar a Wolfenstein the new order (el mismo motor grafico ID tech 5) y Carmack mencionó que habrá verticalidad.
Algo como lo que paso con Wolfenstein The new order, buena calidad visual, y jugabilidad Old school con un poco de sigilo. (claro, en Doom dudo que degolles a un demonio por la espalda, lo mas probable es que le chantes la motosierra en la cabeza xD)

If before the project "restart" was like COD, it could suck, doom is a game with an evil atmosphere and fast, complete gameplay (basically), doom3 was too slow and some areas too short (but ok the game is cool and like a film), i hope this doom will be like doom 2, but with nextgen power.

I pray that the sounds in game are like the sounds off of doom the movie! what I mean by that is if your wielding the chainsaw your character yells "COME ON" to make it that much more intense just like the movie! Or your character points to an objective as I assume theres going to be plenty of in this game!

What I don't understand is that the cyber demon in doom 1-3 didn't have UAC issued weaponry. Now the cyber demon seems to have parts that have been made by the UAC.
I bet this means the demons either stole the weapons from the UAC, or took over the UAC for their own purposes. They're getting smarter!
well ID software did say this game is a re imagining of the of the franchise so i guess changing the story up a bit might make for a fresh experience rather than the same rinse and repeat story they did for Doom and Doom 3 (Doom 3 was a reboot of ultimate Doom)
It was mentioned in doom 3 that the Uac also made weapons so I'm guessing the uac found the demons and said hey these things are already scary and deadly as fuck let's weaponize them.
The original cyber demon did have weapons so did the spider mastermind.
