    How do you build academic and lifestyle boundaries? How do you build successful boundaries? How do you improve your reading comprehension? How did you become faster at reading? How do you budget? How did you prepare financially for university at UCLA?

    Thank you for sharing your process! I also edit as I go and work better under pressure! I know it's not healthy to compare, but I was feeling that maybe my process wasn't normal for grad students so again thank you sharing and making me feel not alone ! 😊

    I loved hearing about the topic for your paper - it's close to the PhD proposal I submitted to unis in the US (on themes within sexual violence) - and this was lovely :). Also, it's incredible how many videos you're churning out through all the paper-writing - kudos on all the hard work ❤️. Hope you take a break soon!

    I empathize with what you said about procrastination so much! I call it productive procrastination and it can range from working on other assignments to even cleaning my apartment excessively. Watching this vlog helped motivate me to continue polishing the first chapter of my honors thesis- good luck with the final stretch of your semester and I hope you can enjoy some break time with family!

    Hey Kaelyn, heard you on the Real Reel podcast and never knew your bg of lower grades in high school and community college. Would LOVE a video going into more depth about getting into undergrad with low grades/focusing essay on upward trajectory. I'm applying to colleges this spring.

    I'm the same way about writing better under pressure! If I have a week and a half to write something, it somehow is never as good as if I had a day a half to write.

    Love hearing about your research! I am also not a person who can do a rough draft and edit because I hate going back to reading what I wrote lol I always feel like it should be better. I was wondering if you also thought yourself to be a slow writer in undergrad because of your writing process?

    This is so great! I am definitely also a person who can't just turn out a draft and then edit. I have to edit as I go because my thinking is still evolving as I write so it wouldn't make sense to try to do complete drafts. I would be so interested to know how you approach feedback in your work. Do you have a process by which you receive and implement the feedback you get from professors? Have you received feedback that you didn't agree with/chose to ignore?

    • @KaelynGraceApple
      @KaelynGraceApple  3 года назад +4

      This would be an interesting topic to cover in a video! I definitely have a process for how I manage feedback and incorporate it!

    So glad I found this channel! I am also a Ph.D. student and grad school is challenging to say the least, in all kinds of ways! I have a random question. How portable would you say your 16' MacBook pro is? I just got my 13' one but am seriously contemplating exchanging it for the 16'. Not necessarily for power but just a bigger more comfortable screen for when I'm not near my external monitor. However, I'm worried about portability. What are your thoughts?

    • @KaelynGraceApple
      @KaelynGraceApple  3 года назад

      I love my new laptop, though it is cumbersome to travel with. The screen real estate and internal processor sold me and I would definitely recommend it if it will be your main operating system! It is a bit on the heavy side but when weighing that with the other features, it was the right pick for me!

    How long are your papers in graduate school (generally) versus what you wrote in undergrad?

    • @KaelynGraceApple
      @KaelynGraceApple  3 года назад +1

      Depends on the paper! For term papers this semester 12-15 pages. The longest paper I wrote an undergrad course was 10.
      My masters dissertation was 10k-12k words (about 45-50 pages) and my undergrad thesis was about 8k-10k words. My PhD dissertation will be much longer though
