My childhood home of St.Cloud SE of Orlando is going to get hammered. I left in 04’ right after Charley and man that was frightening to go through. Luckily we were in a stout block home but it was crazy. Stay safe Floridians!

Everyone is gonna live, just stay calm. I was in Arcadia when Charlie hit in 2004. It was a direct hit it came right up the Peace River, Cat 4. It destroyed the whole town. But everyone was okay. Things can be replaced.
I survived Andrew. Wiped out all the trees. 3 rough weeks. Slept on the roof. Dogs patrolled the house and yard.blown out doors windows possessions.
Embrace the suck.
Not everyone was ok, 15 souls were lost😔

No offense, because as a fellow Floridian I love the positive attitude, but I feel like this is not the storm people should be trying to toughen out. I think many fellow Floridians get way too comfortable and think that nothing's gonna happen, and they don't take these things as seriously as they should. Just make sure to be safe and evacuate if needed. Don't try to toughen it out just cus others do, or to look strong
@@dojo4735 @Brett Fleming I survived Andrew and survived Ian the same. One thing I have going for me is that my building is 180mph rated with impact glass and shutters, 30" foundation, etc... Mother nature is definitely to be respected, but not foolishly feared. Once you've been through 35 years of hurricanes you kind of laugh at all the freaking out that happens, as if this doesn't happen every few years.
While I am only 1 mile from the gulf, my property is 40 feet above sea level with drainage and sump pumps. Not by any means immune to danger, but I refuse to leave only to come back to destruction. If my businesses and home are to be destroyed, I will be here to see it through.
Mother nature is definitely to be respected, that's for sure.

About a week ago the euro model showed fort Myers. Everyone is following the American model and it said first panhandle then Tampa then Sarasota then venice. Also Jim cantore is staying in a hotel in punta Gorda which is 30-45 min north of fort myers. It is probably going to be hitting pretty close to where he is

Born n raised in Las Vegas moved to Charleston south Carolina in 99 was there for hurricane Floyd, it hit there almost head on, but north Carolina got hit twice by that storm. I was uncomfortable being I just had my daughter n NVR experienced this before n it was scary. I eventually moved back home, but I praise everyone that stays n lives year after year there in these storms n protects their homes n fights hurricane season every year God bless too you ALL! U got this!

I’m staying in Orlando on holiday and nobody’s even bothered or told us to evacuate after these new changes what to do 🤷♀️

Ian will be a Cat 1 or downgraded to a tropical storm by the time it reaches Orlando, IF it comes inland at Ponte Gorda or Sarasota; HOWEVER, the traffic in Orlando is Bad on a Good Weather day. If I were you, I'd cut my vacation short and go home cause none of the pools, parks or golf courses are fun in the pouring rain and a tropical storm means pouring rain, thunder and lightning. If you are in a hotel, probably a lot of the workers there won't come in to work; i.e., no maid, no room service. The bar will continue to be open though. It's called a hurricane party. 7th generation Floridian here; not my first hurricane, won't be the last. Good luck and best wishes to you!

Keep yourself together. We live in Iona same as you pretty close to Sanibel. My wife lost her sister to riptide. So she is pretty worried as well. I prepared slot but back in Irma I was really frustrated that the gov created such a panicked. We fled and our neighbors were just fine. So this time we are sticking it out

I an JUST out of the cone and had Charlie and Irma affect me quite hard. However, I feel for everybody in the path and certainly hope for the best. Irma passed right over me as a Cat1 and caused considerable damage to fences, trees, etc... To everybody that will sustain catastrophic damage, I am so sorry.
