No: we don't actually know the name of the brother that Michael accidentally killed. Best the fandom has come up with after trying to decode the messages in a FNaF themes childrens activity book is "Evan", but it hasn't actually been confirmed unlike the names of Michael, William, and Elizabeth.
Well, based off the ultimate timeline final episode, it is likely that 'Gregory' was the name of the Crying Child, since MatPat said Afton's Wife built him. If that theory is correct, why would she give him a name that isn't the name of her son-???
@tjsquibbofficial I highly doubt it's correct. Most of his theory is correct but we've never actually been confirmed that William Afton even had a wife. Yes, he had KIDS. The spring-lock suits internal mechanisms snapped back into place in the 'bite'. the mechanisms are there to allow the animatronic parts to fold away when the suit is used as a costume as they were designed to be double use, unfortunately the snap back triggers in the suits were glitchy at best and on a hair trigger, and when they kicked in could easily crush and impale the person in the suit.
Essentially, the metal was normal until the kids were stuffed inside the suits. Then their souls possessed the suits causing them to be able to walk around on their own. William noticed this and melted the animatronics down and got remnant- the 'soul metal' if you will. He then injected the remnant into the funtime animatronics and they came to life as well. Which ended up not doing much because other kids trapped the puppet and locked Charlotte outside... where she died...

23:41 ok so first thing to know about fnaf lore is there’s a separation when a child dies. A part of them, their soul, could go on to exist outside their body, haunting the place they died or the animatronic they were stuffed into and changing its coding. If the death was particularly gruesome or violent, they leave behind their Remnant, their Agony, pure unrestrained emotion with nowhere to go so it latches onto whatever it can, and in the case of the kids in fnaf that was the animatronics. The animatronic endoskeletons are filled with the extreme negative emotion felt by each victim at the time of their deaths, and when Afton stole the robots to melt them down and inject the Liquid Metal into the Funtime animatronics, it was mostly Remnant and Agony he was getting, since the souls/ghosts stayed in the Pizzeria to haunt Afton one final time.
I love that you also pointed out the figured that looks like Markiplier. Ever since the death of unas annus, Matpats been using wat looks like mark and Ethan stand ins for some of his fnaf theories. I love it
I think it’s great how you’re watching matpat he definitely will clear things up for you and help you understand the lore and he makes it not confusing at all! So matpat is definitely the place to start to learn the lore
My personal theory about why he gets in the suit is because at that point he knows that spirits can possess the robots and can be controlled by the soul inside. He knows this because the entire reason the ghosts have managed to trap him is because he himself (unknowingly) freed them. He doesn’t want to die, so his solution is to become a soul that controls a robot after his body dies
10:24 Matt, the answer to most of your questions up until this point is the fact that these people are human. Humans feel jealousy, humans don’t think straight when emotions are high, humans make dumb choices sometimes for no real reason.
Man i really feel like things could've ended up way better if William had just tried to talk to Henry about whats been happening. I feel like Henry would give him some good advice and stuff or something but instead he did ✨ a dumb thing ✨
I remember there was this animation years ago that showed the purple guy's death--back when some people in the fandom called him "Vincent". It was brutal despite not being super graphic. The sound design was amazing. This has made me want to go find it again.
The little brother's name is actually unclear. Most of the fandom just calls him C.C (crying child) as that was what the game referred to him at times. Back then, many used the name _Chris_ for some reason. Some now head cannon his name to be _Evan_ but it's really unconfirmed
William Afton, dad of the year: "Now my sweet daughter Elizabeth. You know that really cool high-tech robot I built? The one that smells like birthday cake and is giving out balloons and ice cream? The one I built explicitly for you? Don't go anywhere near it, okay? And because I trust you so much, I'm going to put some earbuds in and listen to music while I walk into the other room.'
To explain what matpat was saying at the very end involving the placement of Elizabeth’s death, it’s would make alot of sense for Elizabeth to have died first but it doesn’t fit due to the reasons he stated(plus at the time William was not even capable of making something that complex) so that’s why he put Elizabeth’s death later in the timeline after the murder spree where he actually has a motive to kill.
One thing about the Crying Child, he has no canon name other than that. I wish it was Evan though. It fits so well and it would be a little message with the other Afton kids M, E, E in that order from oldest to youngest, as in “it’s ME”
Just to clarify something. The metal itself isn't special. It's likely just steel and other regular metals. What's special, however, is that the souls of the kids infused with the metal after their death. That's why said metal isn't used everywhere, I doubt many other places want to use metal possessed by dead kids to make robots.
WHY NO ONE ITS TALKING ABOUT PUPPET, its literally cannon that puppet its the one who gives the animatronic bodies to the souls to get revenge, there is literally a mini game about that
@@firemosil3154 sure, the puppet gives the bodies to the souls, but what's stopping it from giving the bodies of the animatronics they're already stuck inside? Not to mention, if their souls are inside the animatronics themselves, aka the metal, then it doesn't change that the metal is infused with the dead kids souls.
1:20 they are art specifically used in the games and books. The reason they look terrifying is because we don’t have that many pictures of how the suits originally looked, only what they look like now after many years, so old and decrepit. That image in specific is the cover art for one of the books, and is actually meant to be creepy.
The reason the jaws are able to slam shut is because the suit is made to be worn by both a person and an animatronic endoskeleton when a person wears it, the animatronic parts inside of it are held back by springs to make room for a person. The springs are very sensitive, however, and are prone to going off making the parts slam back together violently
"I feel like as soon as I grasp something there is more conjecture." that is probably the biggest understatement of how MatPat must have felt trying to figure out this timeline for the past 8 years. XD
26:08 Afton's death is like the Iron Maiden like back in the nineteenth century. Trap in the middle cage with bunch of spikes impaling the whole entire body and then finally bleed to death
i would so die in fnaf, my parents told me when i was little if someone wore a costume (no matter if it was creepy or not) i would literally just follow them anywhere💀
Fun Fact: It's said that Michael was encouraged by his father to prank his little brother because he wanted his youngest son to be scared of the animatronics as to stay away from them so he doesn't die like his little sister. Yeah...his sister got killed by their father's robots. And after her death, William encouraged Michael's pranks and scares. Michael, finally getting compliments and attention from his dad, did just that. But was never told why. So...death! :D
there are multiple ways to trigger springlocks, with the two main ones being moisture and erratic movements, both of which could be attributed to the crying child's death.
20:57 William made Baby to capture kids. Not to be Elizabeth's friend. He made it with her in mind, in other words to look like her. However, he told Elizabeth to stay away from her. She didn't listen and eventually, when she got a moment alone with Baby, Baby scooped her up and she died there. William didn't find her in time.
Some miscellaneous stuff Matpat didn't mention: 1. The suit and character William uses is officially known as 'Spring Bonnie". 2. Only 2 of the 13 - 16ish Nightmare animatronics have the stomach mouth, those being Nightmare Fredbear and it's darker semi-transparent recolor simply known as "Nightmare". 3. It's debatable on if Fredbear and Golden Freddy are the same character, since Golden Freddy has plenty of distinct differences from Fredbear, but they are connected in some way, since the Crying Child was killed by Fredbear but became one of the 2 spirits possessing Golden Freddy. 4. There is additional newspaper clipping about the Missing Children Incident which said that the suspect was convicted, though later FNAF material doesn't allude to it, meaning it could've been retconned out of the continuity.
Answering questions. In Fnaf 2, there's the Withered Animatronics (those are the old ones that William put the first missing kids inside), and the toy animatronics (those are the ones with the Facial Recognition). The toy animatronics moved around because they were programmed to catch criminals, the old ones had no such thing but still did it, William got curious, wanted to try and replicate that effect, figured it had something to do with the fact that he stuffed kids into them, thus designed the Funtime Animatronics to stuff children into themselves when there was no one else in the room. He warned Elizabeth repeatedly to never get close to Baby but since it was obviously designed after her, thus obviously made FOR her(it wasn't), she disobeyed and snuck in while there was no one there. Remnant is a substance created by, I guess, melting down objects that have been infused with souls. Either through the dead body being put into the object, or (in the books) through creating real memories with the object (for example, a doll with a speaker and microphone used to speak with a hospitalised child's father while he was gone to war, after the child died, the memories made using the doll (pretty much the only memories the child had since he was hospitalised) lingered with the doll, giving it life, creating a soul (or something like that, been a while since I read that story)). Remnant has physically no difference with the normal material, it's the experiences attached to it that makes it special.
Even tho i know its Afton, Springtrap is my favorite animatronic because its looks the coolest and most terrifying. Shame Scott ruined it by making him Scraptrap, but at least they made him cool looking again in Security Breach. Hope he's not gone just yet.
In the tales from the pizzaplex books it is basically confirmed that Glitchtrap and Burntrap are not William Afton, but an animatronic called the mimic.
I forgot how difficult the story is to understand if you haven't been studying it since 2014 lol. great reaction and I am looking forward to watching you become exponentially more confused as it goes on
"i feel like i wouldn't have followed someone trying to lure me" well you see the point of luring someone so that they don't know you're luring them. "why did he wear the suit?" to lure the kids. little kids might not follow a random adult, but they're more likely to follow the silly looking bunny who offers them ice cream
18:28 No, it's just confusing. Matpat was referring to Withered Bonnie, Withered Chica, Withered Freddy, and Withered Foxy. They were in FNaF 2 as well. Wondering around with the souls of the dead kids in them.
"I feel like every time I start to grasp something, there's more conjecture!" Welcome to thw world of Five Nights At Freddy's Matthew. That's practically our slogan.
19:56 Did you think that at the time the horsemeat scandal happened that suddenly no one was buying beef burger products? Bro, think for just one second, of course not. Accusations and incidents might stop a lot of people, but it won’t stop everyone.
I kinda think mostly on the fact William never cared about his children. First he never cared to stop Michael from bullying Evan ( That’s what people speculate his name is and is most used ) and second Evans death didn’t make him feel bad at all .
William was tampering with the Toy Animatronics while he was a *dayshift* security guard. In the game, you are a *nightshift* guard. 18:32 It was the Withered Animatronics that were walking around, not the Toy ones that have the facial recog. The Withereds were the ones that look really broken.
One thing that I love and never realized while watching the ultimate timeline video is how part 2 just throws you right into the night 4 transition mini game where the crying child gets murdered. What's funnier is I had to get a second opinion to realize how weird it is.
I get that people blame Mike for the crying child’s death but let’s be honest, it was William’s fault. He neglected his kids and Mike really shouldn’t have been responsible for his younger brother.
18:28 No, the animatronics that were moving around at the time of William's second string of murders were the 'Withered Animatronics' - the old, broken animatronics from the original Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, the ones that had the original 5 missing kids stuffed into them which is why they're moving freely, because they have the souls of the children in them. These old animatronics were not built with facial recognition software, that was only programmed into the newest animatronics in the grand re-opening of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza with the 'Toy Animatronics'. Despite what the quiz you took says, the Toy animatronics were indeed haunted which is why they try to kill you in FNAF 2, it's not because they have faulty programming, or because you look like William Afton, it's because you're simply an adult and a security guard. As heard in the Phone Guy voice clip, after William Afton killed the next 5 kids in the new pizzeria, the new animatronics started acting funny. Although it wasn't shown in this video, there's another Phone Guy voice clip that says that after this incident, the animatronics were fine around kids but when they were around any adults they would just stare. This is because the souls of the children inside the animatronics couldn't identify or remember Afton's face when he killed them and took off the springlock suit and started roaming around the facility, where he first found the alive, wandering Withered Animatronics. So, whenever the souls in the toy animatronics would see an adult, they would get "passive-aggressive" obviously not harming the adult customers, but just not acting right around them. However, they became absolutely hostile when seeing an adult that's also a security guard, because Afton was still wearing his badge when he killed the kids. They couldn't rememeber his face, but they definitely could tell that he was an adult and a security guard, so that's what they had to look out for. In the first 5 nights of FNAF 2, we play as Jeremy Fitzgerald, a night guard who was constantly being attacked by the animatronics because he was a security guard. After Afton quit his job as a day-shift security guard, Jeremy was changed to work in the dayshift to fill the now-empty role, but the animatronics still recognised Jeremy after those 5 nights. Mangle, the most unhinged of the animatronics, recognised him, it leapt at him in broad daylight and bit his frontal lobe, killing him, and creating what is known as, The Bite Of '87. And that's the end of Jeremy's story, but who do we play as in Night 6 and 7 of FNAF 2? We play as Michael Afton who took the job of night guard, but now the animatronics are out to get the new nightguard for a whole different reason - he looks like his father. Michael's role in this, as well as in all the other games, will be explained in Part 3.
The thing about the bite is that, golden Freddy was already in animatronic mode NOT suit mode. It shouldn't have been able to clamp down on him. The spring locks were already released, not wound up to be worn by as a suit.
Recommendation if you want like “funny” fnaf is An Undeniably Cannon FNAF Timeline! I adore it and it’s so funny that you can’t help but go back and even look for little Easter egg clues or funny background things (ex: a family picture that’s separated into two just by how long Williams neck is!)
16:40 William went back as a DAYSHIFT Security guard. Michael later came to that location as a nightshift security guard. That's who we play as in FNaF 2. And 1 and 3 and 4 and 5. and 6. UCN we play as William.
27:15 he cant say that the suits come with a mouth in the stomach, thats to kidnap the other kids. what if the rumor of that capability spreads out in school and then to the parents and then to authorities?
There's also a video called "Everything You Need to Know about Fnaf" by FootofaFerret which is more Canon with less to no theory and purely from the Franchise if you're confused. Would love to see you finish the reaction to the ultimate timeline though.
IMPORTANT: Part 4 of the timeline is based on the still-developing part of the lore, and is already quickly becoming outdated. Take it with a much bigger grain of salt than the first three parts.
He didn’t put the soul inside the suits, he put the bodies inside or dismembered them to fit them, possibly why the withered animatronics are missing limbs
The metal was special because the souls of the dead children (the ones stuffed into to suits). the metal was infused with agony and that is why its special, not a common metal
I put my head in an animatronic. I technically put my whole body in an animatronic, it was for theatre back in HS. it was really scary at first but after a while it started to feel like home
There’s a specific reason why Cassidy is specifically referred to as “the one [Afton] shouldn’t have killed,” we just haven’t gotten to that part of the story yet. Also, you may want to suspend your desire to find the logic in Afton’s actions. He’s a villain in a horror game with very obscure lore. MatPat’s doing the best he can here, but there’s very little concrete evidence of how or why Afton does the things he does, or even the order in which he does them. FNaF is a puzzle that can never be solved completely. I think this is intentional because giving us puzzle pieces that mostly fit together, but not quite, keeps us theorizing and engaged with the story.

Man i really feel like things could've ended up way better if William had just tried to talk to Henry about whats been happening. I feel like Henry would give him some good advice and stuff or something but instead he did ✨ a dumb thing ✨
"Don't kill children" that's a strong stance, hope you don't get canceled for it
I remember there was this animation years ago that showed the purple guy's death--back when some people in the fandom called him "Vincent". It was brutal despite not being super graphic. The sound design was amazing. This has made me want to go find it again.
"Why does that guy look like Markiplier?"
Markiplier: "I am the KING of FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S"
It fits so well and it would be a little message with the other Afton kids
M, E, E in that order from oldest to youngest, as in “it’s ME”
Just to clarify something.
1:06 Markiplier just casually there lollll
1:20 they are art specifically used in the games and books. The reason they look terrifying is because we don’t have that many pictures of how the suits originally looked, only what they look like now after many years, so old and decrepit. That image in specific is the cover art for one of the books, and is actually meant to be creepy.
28:48
Welcome to trying to understand fnaf's lore. Litteraly- for the past 8 or 9 years that is exactly what trying to decipher the lore was like.
XD
I still don't know why nobody thought to call the Ghostbusters.
The metal gives life just because the souls of the children became infused with it as their bodies are left inside the Animatronics
The Crying Child doesn’t have an official name, the closest there is Evan
THE LORE CONTINUES
"afton is gonna be like my creation! my robots killed my son."
really
"You know what that means?" THAT I MISSED THE FIRST PART!? Brb.
4:11 "not even a video call?" SIR THIS IS 19 FUCKING 83 WHAT DO YOU MEAN "not even a video call"?!?!?
Fun Fact: It's said that Michael was encouraged by his father to prank his little brother because he wanted his youngest son to be scared of the animatronics as to stay away from them so he doesn't die like his little sister.
Yeah...his sister got killed by their father's robots.
And after her death, William encouraged Michael's pranks and scares.
Michael, finally getting compliments and attention from his dad, did just that. But was never told why.
So...death! :D
The jaw shut down because the spring-lock suit wasn't designed to handle moisture.
Yeah MatPat mentioned that in his old ones but seems to be rewriting alot of his stuff to skip ovee details for some reason
there are multiple ways to trigger springlocks, with the two main ones being moisture and erratic movements, both of which could be attributed to the crying child's death.
And then, *THE MIMIC Appears*
That last sigh with agony in the end truly summarize the frustracion of all FNAF fans 😂
27:26
Matt, if he did that, his kids would question why the robot did it in the first place.
Then he would have a very big problem.
Some miscellaneous stuff Matpat didn't mention:
Hope he's not gone just yet.
actually it seems like burntrap isn't afton
@@koxbalon who else would he be
In the tales from the pizzaplex books it is basically confirmed that Glitchtrap and Burntrap are not William Afton, but an animatronic called the mimic.
@@doomslayer1210 mimic thing
Yay thank you for watching this!! Also... It's 2am and I'm slowly dying inside because I can't sleep so... Wow what a great time
I forgot how difficult the story is to understand if you haven't been studying it since 2014 lol. great reaction and I am looking forward to watching you become exponentially more confused as it goes on
Little brother of Mike has never been given a name everyone just calls him the crying child because he is always crying.
"i feel like i wouldn't have followed someone trying to lure me" well you see the point of luring someone so that they don't know you're luring them.
"why did he wear the suit?"
to lure the kids. little kids might not follow a random adult, but they're more likely to follow the silly looking bunny who offers them ice cream
19:56
Did you think that at the time the horsemeat scandal happened that suddenly no one was buying beef burger products?
Bro, think for just one second, of course not.
Accusations and incidents might stop a lot of people, but it won’t stop everyone.
I kinda think mostly on the fact William never cared about his children. First he never cared to stop Michael from bullying Evan ( That’s what people speculate his name is and is most used ) and second Evans death didn’t make him feel bad at all .
Pretty much
You thought that was a hellish end? Well, he'll have a whole lotta hell coming for him.
William was tampering with the Toy Animatronics while he was a *dayshift* security guard. In the game, you are a *nightshift* guard.
18:32 It was the Withered Animatronics that were walking around, not the Toy ones that have the facial recog. The Withereds were the ones that look really broken.
i love your reactions to this series so much!!! please keep them coming :)))))
The Way He "Stuffed Childrens Souls" In The Animatronic Is "Agony/Pain Latching Onto Something Nearby"
One thing that I love and never realized while watching the ultimate timeline video is how part 2 just throws you right into the night 4 transition mini game where the crying child gets murdered. What's funnier is I had to get a second opinion to realize how weird it is.
2:33 was a friking crack up bro keep doing what you do best🤣
I get that people blame Mike for the crying child’s death but let’s be honest, it was William’s fault. He neglected his kids and Mike really shouldn’t have been responsible for his younger brother.
your memory astoundish me because you already knew the crying child's lore, specially him being terrified by michael + the bite /lh
OOhhh... we've been waiting for this!!!
Now onto part 3~
Thats why you need to have a LORE JOURNAL you write every singal lore word
I want to watch Mathew actually play the games.
If you thought this was confusing, wait til we get to part 4 as that’s gonna get funky.
I've been checking your channel daily for this part to come out
16:40 William went back as a DAYSHIFT Security guard. Michael later came to that location as a nightshift security guard. That's who we play as in FNaF 2. And 1 and 3 and 4 and 5. and 6. UCN we play as William.
Technically there’s two guard, Jeremy and Fritz Smith and I do think Fritz could be Michael while Jeremy is his own character

27:15 he cant say that the suits come with a mouth in the stomach, thats to kidnap the other kids. what if the rumor of that capability spreads out in school and then to the parents and then to authorities?
Ok, the ages haven’t been confirmed but this is what makes the most sense;
Michael: 16 (when the prank happened)
Crying Child: 9
Elizabeth: 6-7
@Tres It’s on his wiki page that he was 16 during the incident, plus it makes sense with the dates and all

“What’s the brothers name?” We have been trying to figure that out for the last 7 years
You should watch the fnaf lore in a nutshell

Really excited when i saw this in my feed, love your reactions to this stuff lol
