UPDATE: Cracked Blue Mesa Reservoir bridge shuts down travel on US 50 to Gunnison

UPDATE - A routine inspection late last week revealed a tiny crack only about four inches long in the steel of the bridge. CDOT crews took a closer look and studied the bridge with a sonar device revealing a much bigger crack inside the steel.
Officials don't know when the bridge will reopen. CDOT says more testing needs to be done to find out the true extent of the damage.

Holy cow what a great news story. I feel like I really learned about the situation and its impact and possible work arounds. I don't believe the national networks cover stories as well as this. Great job from that reporter and his team.

here in Montreal were were in the same situation for a bridge older than 55 years and we were going to a hell situation for the past 8 months. Hopefully you folks won't get that long until is re-opened.
