I just bought a 1998 kx125 for 700$ only issue is a bad top end, sent out the cylinder to get re chromed, having a lot of fun learning about these bikes but I have 1 question for you, I have no roll in gear when I pull in the clutch, would you have any idea why ? Clutch cable is on properly
cool build but your leaving so much possible energy on the table. battery on each side, move the break to the center of the axle and then add a second motor on the other side, and keep the high speed gearing on each side. A dual motor dual battery setup, that I've not seen before :) Added bonus, is weight distribution is centered, normally you would add weights to opposite side of engine to balance it all out, but not with the dual motor setup. You might need another controller so the system will RPM match both motors
I had 2 reactions to your building video. First , would that small motor mount hold the tension in the chain at peak torque, it didn't, and why not swap the axle and put the motor on the left side to solve the rotation problem. Good luck, looks like fun. I'm in pa, you in del?
How big a battery does the kart have? How long time can you drive on a charge and how long does it it take to charge. Is the battery swappable quickly? Would be awesome for like an indoor racing arena to have such karts, but I am not sure if it would be doable to have enough batteries or charge quick enough.
You thought that drifting in your current setup was fun? Wait till you get more angle (steering angle / opposite lock) on your front wheels - a bit of camber on your front wheels - and legit sleeves for you back wheels. And you will be in a whole different universe my friend. Let's see you do that :D
If you want to make a proper "drift installation" you should check the youtube of jacob sherwood but in recap is making the whells have more angle and putting rain tires for more grip in the front.
Maybe try calling a plumber and see if they will sell you 4 or 5 feet of their own stock.......if they have anything..SDR 35 green pipe used for rain drainage. Will work too.just give them the inside diameter measurement.that u want.peace!
Your 22 tooth gearing has a theoretical max speed of 120ish mph. Your running out of power with the votol controller and the surron battery. Change the controller to a FarDriver nd72530 and get a battery that can output higher peak output. I built a battery 72v 30ah with 240a continuous output and 500a peak output battery and it’ll get you to the power you should be getting out of the qs138 90h.
