I have a question my friends and I, so total of 5 owners or members are starting a handyman service venture. Would this 8 step process be the same with minor tweaks? Each member handles a specific aspect of the financials and marketing.
I am tired of making Shell Oil company money off of my hard work. Almost all companies are copy cats. They take someones else's idea and run with it and become a competitor. If I could at least earn 50% more than I am earning now That would be a win for me. I'm not a lazy man. Success requires ambition, I know I can succeed at anything I do.
1, come up with a name 2, open business bank account 3, incorporate your business 4, licensing 5, contracts 6, insurance 7, build your team 8, profit.....

Most of the stuff you find about "how to start a business" is just motivational junk and generalizations... what I needed was "How do I report my earnings at the end of the year, who do the purchase orders get paid to, where do I register a business entity within my state?" These were all questions answered or touched upon in the video. Thanks a ton, subscribed +1... and at least 5 views per vid, +1 like on all!

@@ChaosIsHere Why did you ask everyone that? He literally said it depends on where you are at in the process and your state. If you are just starting out, you'd want to file an intent-to-use. From there, you will need register that name with your state once you are ready to ingest work to make money through your business. This goes into the required licensures, etc. needed to proceed to the next steps in the process. Where I am, in order to establish a LLC you have to submit a Certificate of Formation, etc. A quick Google search for that state's requirements for registering a name and officially starting your business is easy to find.
We have an accountant and my husband and I just had her help us start our business and to help get a license.. we will be first time construction business owners 🎉🎉🎉 so excited

You'll want to discipline yourself. Do all your school work as one means of becoming disciplined. You have no reason to be wanting to get out of school. With a business you'll be having to do tons of things that you won't want to do. Practice before you start.
Thank you for this informative video but this left me feeling overwhelmed. I only had considered the creative side of starting my business so I wanted to get an outline of the business side. This sounds like it comes down to money makes money. Fortunately with so much information out there today I believe that there are ways to start with almost nothing and build.

Hello, I wanted to ask you a question. Do you need a zoning permit to sell homemade products online from home? I don’t see anyone mentioning they have one, so I would really like to know. Thank you!
I think this is location specific and would consult a local lawyer. I rent a condo and the association allows me to work from home, but can't use my home as a business. The big tip is if you have anyone over or if you have packages in/out constantly. If you use an off-site storage and drop your packages off, no one would know anyways.
What's the benefit on starting out as a sole proprietorship DBA instead of going straight into an LLC? Wouldn't it be more cost effective to start off as an LLC?
I think as a sole proprietor, you claim full and sole responsibility of anything and everything pertaining to your business AND your personal assets, like house, vehicle, anything personal and of value to you, can be taken from you to compensate the person who sues you for damages and things like that. It's alot riskier. An LLC will place a barrier between the person suing you and your business. Anything personal of you is left out of it which is a good thing. I could be wrong, but I from what I've understood. An llc can be costly but what's a couple hundred dollars compared to thousands of dollars of your own personal values?

This is a great video. You do an excellent job of clearly outlining the steps for starting a business. You sound great for the first 2 minutes of the video; the background music that plays starting at about the 2:20 mark begins to compete with your message too much.
I disagree with getting a DBA before a LLC because it was a headache trying to get everything changed when I started building credit, nothing matched! I eventually had to get a new name!
You make a strong case for doing the LLC first. But in the future, feel free to reach out to a lawyer as we can help you through this without having to change your name.

Read a lot of books, time is your current ally but not your comfort. I recommend starting with “rich dad poor kid” and going from there

I'm not sure what you mean. You would still have to pay tax on your social security. But it is deposited, you can do whatever you want with it.
This is a great video. You do an excellent job of clearly outlining the steps for starting a business. You sound great for the first 2 minutes of the video; the background music that plays starting at about the 2:20 mark begins to compete with your message too much.

I disagree with getting a DBA before a LLC because it was a headache trying to get everything changed when I started building credit, nothing matched! I eventually had to get a new name!
You make a strong case for doing the LLC first. But in the future, feel free to reach out to a lawyer as we can help you through this without having to change your name.

Oh awesome job its almost impossible to find out how to do the basics of a startup everyone immediately jumps to way past the startup and how to market which does not help you get the initial basic startup done good job and thank you
