- I give a step by step instruction on how to tie my Skinny-Dipper articulated streamer pattern. This is a weightless swim style fly intended to be thrown with 6wts and up and full sinking lines. Target species are, well.....everything, but brown trout and smallmouth in particular. Tied on Ahrex #4 Light Stinger and #1 Predator Stinger hooks.

Awesome pattern. Will you be attending the Somerset NJ Fly fishing show?
Thank you Dan! Unfortunately I did not plan to attend, but it is certainly on my bucket list.
Cool!
Awesomeness
Thank you Cheri!
Great tie, I like how in depth you are in the video's, I have really learned a lot. How does it act in the water? With the hair head it seems like it would be to boyant, I don't know maybe it's just me.
Thank you Ron. The fly is most definitely buoyant. It is intended to be thrown with a 25-30 ft. Full sinking head in the 250-300grain class paired with a short leader (3ft). The because of the shape of the head the fly more or less surfs around on the currents, and has a massive tail kick and hover/slow rise in the water on the pause. The buoyancy brings some crazy life into the fly within the subtle nuances of a Jerk Strip retrieve. This fly will not perform on float lines, or sink tips, or long leaders. It is a very situation specific - presentation specific fly.
hey Gunnar Brammer . can u explane a little more on the line your useing. maybe tell what line company makes a full sink.. is it a still water full sink or a aggressive shooting head thats full sink?? thanks.. your great by the way. and love your room. did you design the look of that room your filming in??
Hey Gunnar, when you say the name of those dubbing brushes is that because they are sold like that? I know you make some of your own brushes. I make my own on my nor vise. I don't ever need them as long as you because I tie mostly small flies. I am learning from you and will soon attempt some more of these flies. Good of you to give credit where it is due, but your bugs are really great no matter where they came from. You are a fantastic tier. All the best, Sean (also, my sharpie markers turn red if I use superglue over them. Do you use sharpies? You said sharpie that is why I am asking)
Thanks Sean. I say EP Sparkle Brush and EP Foxy Brush because that is the official name of the product, which is manufactured by Enrico Puglisi - EP that is what you will find in Fly shops. These are not something I make myself. I typically don't use sharpies, but instead Chartpak Markers which are a waterproof fabric marker.
I can't find the pr320 in size 1 ANYWHERE! The smallest option is 2/0
Hey Mark, sorry to hear that man. Ahrex currently only has Hareline Dubbin lined up as the North American Retailer, and until Hareline picks up the smaller sizes you won't find them in the U.S. Try using a #1 B10s as a substitute, the shank length will be a little shorter than I'd prefer, but it should be sufficient to build enough bulk from the brushes.
I like ur shirt
Great vid as ussual.....just a bit too far from the camara for my old eyes..keep up the good work .
What hair stacker is that I cant seem to find a large one that I like
