When Salli Terri sang her solo excerpt of Barbara Allen she made me cry. The song itself was so tragic with Sweet William dying as if from an illness and Barbara, from suicide. It’s like she was tormented and tortured from the suffering of her lover at his deathbed that after he died, she killed herself. And the rose, was her testimony of her love as she was wrapped around the briar, in a lover’s knot- of William as in eternal love even right after their passing and burial? I don’t hear that song as much as I would have love to hear it, in person, not just from a record that my parents had, long ago.
