    Sir are there any situations when there is no need to use past perfect because i have seen some examples where action is performed before another past but past simple is used in both clause

    • @arshadahmed9802
      @arshadahmed9802 3 года назад

      Yes you could use both actions in simple past but you need to specify their orders .In past perfect there is no need of it bcoz past perfect indicates the earlier past ,so it's kind of obvious.

    • @Learnamericanenglishonline
      @Learnamericanenglishonline  7 лет назад +3

      I do. But not everyone knows how to use it the right way, or they don't know when to use it. I make mistakes with it myself.

    • @lebenlive319
      @lebenlive319 7 лет назад +1

      LearnAmericanEnglishOnline yeah you are absolutely right. But what kind of mistake with myself? I didn't get it. You are perfect! Do you have an instagram ? If you don't mind I'd like to talk to there too! You are so intelligent! I am also a teacher. But I prefer your teaching way.

    He has been playing for juventus for 4 years until now
    Hi Mr paul

    Ronaldo has played for real madrid for 12 years

    You made a really nice video. If you could upgrade your captions, it would be awesome. Because the automatic captions your video has, I am unable to use your video in my classroom. Automatic captions do not provide sufficient accessibility to students who have a sight or hearing disability. Please consider fixing up your captions. Thanks.

    U said 2 past actions .
    In last example there's 1 past action so why did u used past Perfect ?

    • @Learnamericanenglishonline
      @Learnamericanenglishonline  2 года назад +1

      It’s because of the negative. There is a difference between the thing that changed and the situation before the change. It’s the difference between the action and the nonaction.

    “The plane had left by the time I got to the airport.” Why can’t you just say “the plane left by the time I got to the airport”? The person would still understand what you’re talking about. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I get so confused with this tense.

    • @Sumohano
      @Sumohano 4 года назад +3

      That way it would mean that at the moment you arrived the plane was taking off. "at the same moment". With the past perfect it means that when you arrived at the airport the plane was already flying. That's the difference. Of course, people will always understand what you mean especially native speakers, but the point is to speak correct English here.
