A Beatles early classic the depth of writing and wordsmith was then outstanding i was 18 then im 70 now but the structure is simply beautifully reborn in this cameo
I"d listen to Fred during the late 80's and 90's, playing solo in a place in Harvard Square. Back then, his repertoire was encyclopedic and he played with the sensitive expression, articulation and depth he played with long before those hardships. He's got an uncanny story to tell, but it was born of something else besides calamity. This music is not catharsis, it's sensitivity. He's just an extraordinary artist.
I love the slower, softer version with its sensual, romantic quality. Well done. 👏🏻
GREAT MUSIC!! One of the greatest living jazz pianists, great trio music. Great feeling, sensitivity, harmonics, and rhythm.

Well said. Me too.
Exquisite. What he has been through in his life, and emerge from it playing so beautifully, is amazing.
This guy knows the most fantastic chords. The sound of genius to the max.
He plays all the pain he is going through with his sickness. And that is pure beauty.

This song is credited Lennon-McCartney, not just McCartney. Even if it was written by Sir Paul.
Listen to the original and you will see why Fred relayed this in his own very special way
Fred and Janice Siegel did a piano-voice rendition on Slow Hot Wind that is even more stunning than this lovely trio version. Check it out!
Wow
The title says it all.......

Fred Hersch is great, but the string bass is overpowering the trio.
No, you know, when you think about it differently, it's not... It's kind of an interesting dynamic - although I accept it's probably accidental.
