  • If you have ADPKD, you are likely to develop cysts in organs other than your kidneys; most commonly in your liver. This is referred to as polycystic liver disease (PLD). People without ADPKD can develop PLD too, with approximately 1 in 500 people carrying the genes that cause PLD. In some patients with liver involvement, the liver can grow to be three times the size of a healthy liver; resulting in the need for transplantation.
In partnership with PKD Foundation of Canada, this webinar with Dr. Leslie Lilly, MD MSc FRCP(C) will summarize the role of liver transplantation in the management of PKD and PLD, and also discusses the outcomes of liver transplantation in patients with these diseases. Joined by PKD patient and two-time liver transplant recipient, Jan Robertson shares her journey through the transplant process.

I'm not: Canadian, but: Southern American patient with: ADPLD & ADPKD (our Providers & Healthcare Workers need to stressing that: both these are: Rare Diseases, & give patients: resources for education of symptoms & how hepatomegaly & renomegaly affect our daily lives, crowd out & strangle, even: malrotate other organs, & change our waist-size).
