Hi the absima can't run like the trx4 was as the trx4 is running the hobbywing axe system it has 200% drag brake the stock brushed motor can't work like the axe system :)
It was the 1st run out with the roof rack and it made it tip.over way too easy so we just put some pre load on it so we could drive it but yeh it needs backing off when we get time to set it up right lol ya could see it was sitting too high :) think it wants about half a cm off all 4 shocks.
Great video, excellent testing! I've got the TRX4 Sport amongst others, I'm liking it. Though I just bought a Sherpa yesterday, can't wait for that to arrive.
That the CVD’s yeah? I’ll be changing the wheels to a set of steel white Weller split rims, which’ll be weighted. Different wheels so I'll have to change the tyres too, I’ve got some Hyrax tyres looking for a new home so will fit those. Probably change the motor too to a 35Turn.
Liked and subscribed after watching this video. I'm contemplating the Absima Sherpa vs a TRX4 defender and this was a good comparison for me. I had also thought about adding an Axe system to whichever car I go for so wonder if you think the axe system would be overkill in the Sherpa or would the axe system be a worthy upgrade? Thanks.
Hi and thanks for the sub, since the vid we have had the front drive shaft of the Sherpa fail and had to wait 6 week for warranty replacement :( none in stock anywhere, we then upgraded to the axe 3300kv same as the trx4 but after only 2 runs out 1st gear has completely failed and again no replacement parts in stock anywhere and no upgraded metal gears in stock, the Sherpa is not a bad RC but the total lack of parts is a red flag and as such I can't recommend it, after looking into the gear issue it seems many have had it fail with stock motor and we don't abuse the rc's at all so this wasn't due to fitting the axe system as it is only ever used to crawle so it's not like the motor was putting hug strain on the greats :(
@@WTFRCCars Well thank you for the info and saving me losing out on a false economy by buying the Absima to save on the TRX4! I had thought about a TRX4 sport which is not much more in cost than the Absima but I do like the TRX4 defender so might have to bite the bullet on that one.
The defender is a good RC but a few things to consider, it's the only trx that is a different wheel base so none of the other or aftermarket shells fit it, it's also the only one that has the mudguards on the body not the chassis so even if you change the wheel base you still have to buy Mudguards and shock towers to use another shell, the Chevy bronco and g500 are all same wheel base and also the same wheel base as most aftermarket shells :) the sport is only any use for pure crawling as you have no 2 speed and locked diffs so doesn't trun very good at all also it costs way more to add the extra parts than to just buy a full trx4 in the 1st place :) hope this helps.
Where lucky the bed rock comes right through the surface all over where we live so got loads of places to go just need the time and to be allowed out :( dam covid.
Hi Chris, unfortunately no it's not, so far the front drive shaft has broken and taken a little over a month for absima to replace it this is a common complaint both for the amount of time it takes to get spares and the drive shaft failure, after this was replaced not long after 1st gear failed there are no stock of the stock plastic gears available and we have had an order placed for the metal upgrade gears now for almost 2 month still no stock, I will be doing a long term update video of it.
So far we had the front drive shaft fail and took over a month to get it replaced as no spares available in UK but they did replace under warranty, also just had the 1st gear strip completely but again no spares available in UK but we have found a set of metal gears for the original yikong yk4102 on AliExpress so have ordered them :)
@@WTFRCCars I'm not sure what the pro version has just seen it on models port website 🤔 looks a very nice rc or go trx4 defender or bronco. They both look nice and couple years ago I had trx4 but dam thing needed new servos then electrics
PBM racing, although I would not recommend the absima now I need to do a follow up vid, they have a constant issue with the front cvd failing even if you reduce the steering travel, also the gear shift fork has failed it's a good crawler but let down by the drive shaft issue there around £25 a set and last a few months or so, the shifter fork is only £17 for the upgraded metal part but you then have to upgrade all the gears to metal or it will cut through the plastic gears, by the time you have fixed all the issues it's still going to get through drive shafts there is no fix :(
both stock i would say the sherpa is more capable, unfortunately since the vid we have had to replace both front drive shafts more than once, the gear shift fork and one of the servos on the sherpa, the trx4 is still running fine.
The sherpa is a more capable crawler out the box unfortunately its just not built well, the front drive shafts fail constantly, the diff servo failed, gear selecting fork melted againt the 2nd gear, there not bad just nowhere near the reliability of the trx4 unfortunately.
Depends where ya from lol I only got it cos there the cheapest and it came with the light kit free, if I was to get a body to look good I wouldn't go for any of the traxxas ones :)
With the Absima you can move the little jumper across on the esc to change to crawl mode so it behaves like the TRX 4
Hi the absima can't run like the trx4 was as the trx4 is running the hobbywing axe system it has 200% drag brake the stock brushed motor can't work like the axe system :)
Really great objective video, well done! Looking forward to a more detailed video to see how the new Sherpa squares up to the established mighty TRX4
Thanks :) the Sherpa is a very interesting crawler especially for the price :)
Great video, lower the ride height on the g500.... makes it soo much nice to drive and won’t roll over so much

There good crawlers just make sure ya get the new drive shafts on it :)

Yeh should make a cracking crawler :)
Nice comparison, cool video liked and subbed 👍🎬👌😎
Thanks:)
Is there a difference between the sherpa you have and the pro version?
The pro from what I can tell came with better front drive shafts, metal gears and metal gear shifter fork

super video - thanks
Many thanks!
Great video mate I've just bought on and also have a trx4 but honestly you can not beat a trx 4
Yeh the trx is my favourite :)
Where abouts are you from mate
Worksop area in notts
Need more locations for the crawlers
Where lucky the bed rock comes right through the surface all over where we live so got loads of places to go just need the time and to be allowed out :( dam covid.
Do you think that it will be as durable as the trx4

I have found parts for the Sherpa all over aliexpress. Enough to rebuild the whole car! lol

@@WTFRCCars hi
I'm looking at getting the sherpa pro with upgraded gears and drive line, just wondering what your thoughts are on it
So long as it comes with the new CVD drive shafts and metal gear fork should be a good RC :)

The TRX are always easier to get any parts for or upgrades but the Sherpa are a good crawler too just not as much aftermarket support
Great video my rc friend 💪😃
Thanks 👍
Where are you finding this cheaper than a TRX4?
The Sherpa was £369 from pbm racing, the trx4 are £499 modelsport
@@WTFRCCars I’m seeing Sherpa $675 or so. Rebel RJ $550 or so.
@@WTFRCCars meant rebel RC and Absima Sherpa
Never seen the rebel ?
Where did you get the absima

So basically the sherpa kills a stock trx4. It only reason this trx4 is even as good as it is is because of the amazing axe system.
both stock i would say the sherpa is more capable, unfortunately since the vid we have had to replace both front drive shafts more than once, the gear shift fork and one of the servos on the sherpa, the trx4 is still running fine.
Hi.....greeting from Indonesia🙏🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hi :)
Price
We got the Sherpa for £369 in UK think the trx4 was £450
It's a interesting video, but the TRX4 is modified too much!
The sherpa is a more capable crawler out the box unfortunately its just not built well, the front drive shafts fail constantly, the diff servo failed, gear selecting fork melted againt the 2nd gear, there not bad just nowhere near the reliability of the trx4 unfortunately.
Never ever the g500, must be the ugliest version of trx4 plattform😅, sorry for the honest comment😘
