I use a blender, then squeeze the water out. I need a finer clay, so, I crumble it up, let it thoroughly dry, then use a coffee grinder. This makes a very fine fuzz. I store it dry to avoid mildew. When I need a batch, I mix water and glue with it. This is excellent for miniature house building (bricks, stones, stucco, etc.). Enjoyed your video. Michael
Glad you enjoyed the video. Those are so good tips. May need to get a coffee grinder to give it a try. In the past we I need a finer clay I use a recipe that uses toilet paper.
I have greatly simplified my process. I found that egg carton can be ground dry in a coffee grinder. It makes a very fine fuzz that can be mixed with water and glue. No need for a blender. The clay dries very hard. Michael
Good stuff jay! This is actually how i made the goonies sign i posted on your page. Only i added joint compound to my recipe, it makes the finished piece very hard and also gives it a more rustic look
Right on! I’ve used this recipe a few times for a couple different things. It works well but it just doesn’t allow me fine detail like to paper clay does
Sweet! Thanks for sharing. Years ago I use to use tp, glue, and like drywall plaster with bleach to keep it from going bad and that stuff is still together. I have tons of egg cartons because my family has a farm w chickens but I seem to have way more egg cartons than them chickens lay them eggs, lololol!!
Have you tried adding a couple table spoons of vinegar and a quarter cup of baking soda before the glue? Then after the glue use baby powder or flour to get the consistency you want.
Thanks! I love the pumpkin demon teeth! I notice how easy your zip lock bag is. I may have to quit using the ones I buy. Do you notice any liquid leaks in those zip bags you use?
Help! I'm CONFUSED. I thought DRYWALL COMPOUND was necessary for the mixture to be paper CLAY. Without drywall compound, doesn't the mixture remain another kind of paper mache? I love the way you inform without boring us.
@@UnhingedProductions1 Thanks. It will be a while before my mixed media sculpture is completed but I'm pretty confident that the egg carton-glue-joint compound portion works out thanks to your enthusiasm. My sculpture will be fine art. I'm not formally trained and it's folks like you AND those who comment that make all the difference.
I’m not sure what’s happening, I had that happen once on someone’s video I was trying to watch, I had to actually go to their channel and click on the video while I was on the channel and then it played for me
Love your work!! What kind of glue are you using?? Is this regular White glue.... PVA?? All the recipies I've seen making paper glue and most mache projects, call for the "white" glue. Thanks for sharing. Love watching you create!! Best wishes.... Ax
@@UnhingedProductions1 thank you so much!! I created a 10ft alligator using egg cartons and paper mache - It would not be submerged but just to float on top of styrofoam in my pool. I wanted it to scare off ducks who want to nest near my pool. I needed a way to seal it just in case it got splashed ..ended up that my paper mache flamingo actually did a better job of warding off the ducks!! 🦆
lol ya some say I talk to much others say I don’t talk enough.. these older videos I’ll fully admit are a bit long winded. The videos that have been posted in the last few years not so much talking

This is genius!!! I'm a big fan of your channel and a big fan of your building philosophy. Please keep it up!
That is really cool! Thanks for always sharing your ideas! Your channel is my “go to” for all my mache projects.🎃
Thank you for watching
Wow thank you again for this recipe too……..🍂🙋♀️🍂

Yep I normally use tp, joint compound, flour, salt and wood glue. Makes a very good clay you can get details with
@@UnhingedProductions1
Yea, joint compound, lololol! I couldn't think of the name.
it actually worked, thank you so much😄😄😃
Your very welcome
Egg Carton Clay is superior to me. It dries solid and I love it.
Hey what type of glue do you use
So you know how much salt should I add to it?
Great work
Thanks
Awesome dude! Thank you sooo much!
Thanks I hope it works great for you
Have you tried adding a couple table spoons of vinegar and a quarter cup of baking soda before the glue? Then after the glue use baby powder or flour to get the consistency you want.
Not with this particular one. I’ve done that with the tp clay
How to mak it, so when it dries you eould be able to turne it inside out and keep same shape only on other side of predmet?
You gotta get you some titebond 3,lol! Its good stuff.
Lol right
Thanks! I love the pumpkin demon teeth! I notice how easy your zip lock bag is. I may have to quit using the ones I buy. Do you notice any liquid leaks in those zip bags you use?
Nope haven’t had anything leak with them
Awesome! Once its dry, does it sand okay? Or does it get all flakey?
We will find out.. I have a few things I did with this clay and I’m gonna be sanding on them
Making a small batch along with you today , it's at the soaking stage ...
Awesome! i'm working on a few things my self

Ya the other paper clay does need the drywall compound, but this easy recipe doesn’t and it still works great

Thank u for sharring ur art . I just want to where should we keep the clay ?
I just keep my clay in a ziplock bag and just left out on my work bench
What’s the best way to make pumpkins out of a beach ball?
Blow up the ball, then strip mache, once dry remove the beach ball then use mache clay to create your pumpkin
Very cool Bro !!!! HFL!!
With TP shortage this is another great way to make clay. LOL HFL
I'm using this recipe to make a birdcage style hat mold...how long does it take to dry? Doing the mold tonight for a wedding Sunday night
Depending on humidity in your area,
It can take just one night up to three days
Is there a reason you don’t put kosher salt in this recipe?
Not really, it’s a recipe I found tried and it works pretty good
What's the ration of paper n glue
I have tried to watch this video now a half dozen times but my screen just goes black
I’m not sure what’s happening, I had that happen once on someone’s video I was trying to watch, I had to actually go to their channel and click on the video while I was on the channel and then it played for me
Got to watch 8 min of your video today. Great video keep making good content like this and maybe one day hobby lobby will have a paper mache isle.

I use a wood glue called tightbond II
How can you make it flexible, so turn inside out?
How do you make your projects waterproof?
Most of the time I use a spare urethane over them once I’m done. The tightbond II wood glue in my paste helps as well.
@@UnhingedProductions1 Thanks a lot. What is spare urethane?
can props made from this be waterproofed for outdoor use that gets heavy rain ?
Yes. I seal all my creations with spar urethane. And they all get quite a bit of rain during October

I saw a lady do this but she added joint compound.
I want to make pots for my pot plants with this.
Wait lol can you?
Molly Brown thinks you talk to much blabbing , and me K-Lee

I also forgot to ask: How does DRY egg carton paper clay SAND?
It sands out decent.
Yes, but is it 'super'!?!
