Previously unreleased recordings from the 1950s and '60s present Monroe concert performances, jam sessions, and festival workshops of Bill with the Bluegrass Boys and his brothers Charlie and Birch. This 75-minute collection captures Monroe with Peter Rowan, Bill Keith, Tex Logan, Bobby Hicks, Del McCoury, Hazel Dickens, Roland White, and many, many others. Includes rare photos and extensive notes by Ralph Rinzler. "...[C]ulled from both concerts and picking parties, [this recording] reveals what a holy terror [Monroe] was in front of an audience-even of friends, at 4:45 a.m." - Newsweek

That tune will beat the devil!
This is the Bluegrass I knew in Bath County Virginia when I was growing up and Bill Monroe was the boy to follow. Wonderful No?

Bill Monroe was the top bill of all bluegrass performers
when Bill goes into the four chord on the second part of his first break it's no holds bar
That Fire OnThe Mountain is super hot, alright!!! Thanks for posting it on RUclips!!!
Thrilled to death to find this.Thank you so.
love
Played way faster than Bill Monroe could handle at this time, so he simplified his solos a great deal, sometimes playing a single note repetitively rather than the full run. Then he just played a chord for a while. Monroe was extraordinary, but he did slow down over the years.
there are 7 people I wish I could have a spliff and a beer with...
That's David Stringbean Akeman on vocals and banjo
easy to see why they where such an influence on the dead
I bought this CD in 1992 and wore it out. I played bluegrass 7 days a week. Now I play death metal 7 days a week. Go figure. I still have my F5 mandolin.
That’s awesome! I’m the opposite, I played metal when I was younger. Had the opportunity to get a Weber F14 and took up bluegrass.
I'm just a w-back listening to bluegrass.
Unbelievable
Probably one of the few songs that became more popular only due to an even more popular song 😂
