Another quick way to do it in your DAW (and this is what I do)…. Take your tempo, divide by 3 and times by 2. So if your song tempo is 120 bpm, set your delay to 80 bpm. Same effect
Sorry, this is wrong. Songtempo 120bpm => Quarter Note Length = 500ms, Dotted Eight Note Length = 375ms (= 500/4*3) => 160bpm (= 60s/0,375s). You must set your delay to 160bpm
Love the content but still have trouble (def not a drummer) with doing this so I think I fall in the Paul camp and will just have to buy one with a setting unfortunately
If you have a hard time to remember how to count , just listen to and remember the fill when the drums comes in on AC/DCs Thunderstruck in relation to the beat.
Some delay units will display the milliseconds you tap in. This can be used to easily calculate the dot. Tap quarter notes if you want to figure out dotted quarter note or eighth notes if you want to figure out dotted eighth. Look at the value. Say it's 400ms. Add 50%, that's 600ms. Set the delay to 600ms. There you go, Bob's your uncle. You can figure out dotted 8ths from tapping 1/4 notes as well, but it's not quite as easy. Take 3/4ths of the value displayed. So if you tap out 400ms, then set it to 300ms for a dotted 1/8th.
You guys seem to know what you're doing, but please just get to the point. It took you five of the nine minutes to actually start the dotted eighth demonstration. Less banter, more demo, please.
The Edge’s entire career explained in 8 minutes! Nice one lads! Lol
Yeah maybe but he’s created some of the most iconic sounds and songs over the years!
In “8” minutes… I see what you did there

I like it when you said "grungier"..haha 🤘🏿🤘🏿
great demo of this wonderful effect.
...and man, this tele is absolutely killer imo !! (looks- + soundwise) 👍
Finally I get the concept!! Thanks guys - subscribed 😀
Great tutorial...I will have to explore delay for more rhythm stuff than I was using it before. Thank you
What a great explanation your explanation clears my doubt, what delay do you put before or after the drive?
man im playing this one tomorrow at my lesson. Thanks guys. always good
Thank you!! Learned a lot in 8 minutes.
Brilliant tutorial. Thanks!
Great show thanks for explaining I still haven't got a clue but I'll give it a go 👍🎸🎶🍻🍀
That was just brilliant! Subbed!
Sounds amazing
What are you running through? Sounds killer
Amazing content as always guys, thanks
Cheers!!

Bloody informative that guys brilliant stuff thanks 🙏
In church circles, there's a common joke...
Q. So you're in the church band? What instrument do you play?
A. Dotted 8th Notes
I love that
Thanks so much! What was the math formula again though? When entering values into delay (tone studio app)??
amazing sound
I just set my boss Katana for that sound
sounds killer. 🙏🎸😎
I exclusively use a delay set for dotted 8th time. The rare times I need a 8th note delay time, I tap quarter note triplettes!
Awesome vid guys, please any advice how to get the edge dotted 8th on my tc electronic prophet pedal? Atb.

Nice!
I get the idea of clapping the 4 against 3, but find it hard. Do you have any tips on practicing it until you can just ‘feel’ it?
Thanks
Maybe that can help you. I hope it helps:

The syllabic rhythm of: "mine's a pint of bitter" - mine's is the first downbeat of the bar.

Yes this is a way to get delay times, but it’s not possible to do that live, or asking the drummer what the exact tempo is.
The DD8 supposedly has a secret way to get it. I just can't make it work on mine.
Feel it needed a straight comparison on one note between the ddooted 8th and the quarter note . But appreciate the vid
And cue the edge haters 😂😡….. great vid (ps love the edge)
👍🏿🤘
Superb ! Is it possible on Katana mk2 ?
Yes it is
