Recording a 1x12 guitar cab with a 3-mic setup. Which parts of the speaker produce what tones, and how to capture them. I use a Shure SM57, a Sennheiser MD 421-II, and an AKG D112 to capture various points around the cabinet and room, which each contributing to the final sound. I do this using an amp closet (isolation booth), acoustical foam to reduce reflections, and carpet to reduce the reflections from the floor. This to get a heavy distortion or crunch guitar sound.
