This was helpful Thank you I liked seeing the inside Do you think the teacher manual and dvd is necessary? If I purchase the graph paper and student lesson book? Thanks
Hillary Enloe I think you could get by with just the student book and graph paper, but the teachers guidebook helps you understand the reasoning behind the method and the dvd gives you sample lessons so you can see how the lesson would go. I personally needed both but that may just be me. Plus the guidebook is K-12 and the student book is just first grade. Hope that helps!
@@ninilovenana I’m so sorry I missed this comment. But to answer, the guidebook explains the method, no specific day to day lesson plans. The student book has day to day lessons in multiple sections so you can make each lesson as long or short as you like.
Thank you for review!!!! Would you say that CM Mason is similar to that of Rays Arithmetic?! Just asking because of the price of the CM Arithmetic is a bit pricey 😬
LUCERO RIVERA it’s very similar, but book one is geared more towards 1st grade, while Rays seems more closely aligned with book 2 in the CM series. I actually just downloaded the pdf of Rays primary arithmetic for next year to try out bc it seems very close to book 2 in the CM series. I had it printed and bound for $11, so that’s definitely going to save some $ next year. I would highly recommend the guide book to use alongside the Rays as a help for you the teacher though. Especially since it covers K-12, not just one grade. Hope that helps!
@@makerofahome we never made it to Ray’s last year but I will use it as a supplement this year. I’m so glad I took my oldest thru book 1 of CM Arithmetic but in all honesty, I feel like Ray’s would’ve accomplished the same things. Both take a mental math approach and follow the basic CM principles regarding math. Hope that helps.
@@monicabras9618 hey there! I’m not sure what you mean. I’ll link the website here for you to look over the entire series and read their explanation of the scope and sequence. simplycharlottemason.com/store/the-charlotte-mason-elementary-arithmetic-series/ If you mean, how is it different than a typical mathematics book…the biggest difference is that most of the problems are done orally, there’s minimal writing in the first couple of books, and there’s no drills or flashcards or anything like that. It doesn’t depend on rote memorization like some math courses. Does that answer your question?
I think you could get by without the book if you’re a visual person that needs to see the lessons acted out. I use both the DVD and the book bc I need both, but the guidebook was also designed to condense CM’s thoughts and practices on mathematics into one place. You can also listen to Richele Baburina on the Delectable Education podcast if you need a better understanding of the methods and the why behind them. The guidebook is K-12 as well so that’s another reason I invested in it. :)
@@ThisEnchantedHour I love the ladies with A Delectable Education. I went ahead and ordered the bigger math book too! It will be helpful for me to see the grand plan even for years ahead. Thank you for your help!
I just bought the Simply Charlotte Mason Math book and the instructional DVD. Do I also need the instructional book as well? Or can I get by without it?
Noel W. You could get by without it. The guide book and dvd explain how to teach everything and the supplies you need. I wasn’t going to get the student book but it was used and an incredible deal. I can’t always think up sums for him to practice so that’s the benefit of the student book. You could easily find rays Arithmetic online or smtg like it if need extra practice problems.
Tara Hamilton the short version is that we love it! Bc of the craziness of the end of last school year, we stopped at number 25 and have since picked right back up with it this year. My 5 year old daughter who is in kindergarten wanted to do it too, so I started her at the beginning and her brother is working in the middle. If things continue to go as well as they have, I’ll get the 2nd book in the series and continue on. It’s definitely not like any other math out there but I love it for that reason. It’s all very practical and even in book one, some of the exercises are setting the stage for multiplication and division later on. That’s why I wasn’t too concerned that he’s in 2nd grade now and still in book 1 bc I know the foundation for higher skills are being laid as we learn to add and subtract. Does that help?

So the author wrote out lesson plans for the very same things in the other book with the dvd?

Hi!
What is the difference between the elementary arithmetic book and the mathematic book? Thank you

I bought the DVD with the elementary arithmetic book one. I'm excited to use it! Will I be good without the big math book that goes with the DVD?

I am very interested in your school cart...where did you get it😊
Brenda Berry it’s from Target. They have them in that gray color and white. IKEA also has similar ones. It’s a space saving dream!
