      Reading your brief profile, I am now in Taiwan instead, travelling from Malaysia. I'll make sporadic trips to Taiwan every year, and Tainan is practically my turf since I lived in Tainan for three years. Great to see foreigners loving Malaysian food for different reasons. Keep up the good work.

    Giving us roti dreams Luke! How good are those roti nachos! I wasn't expecting much when we had them but they blew us away also. Love all the footage you got there also. So great to watch! Pak Putra looks so good! We need to get back to Melaka to try it as it was closed when we visited. Amazing tour Luke!

    the brown sauce you ate with ikan bakar is called air asam (tamarind juice + onions + chilli n sometimes belacan), and the black one is sambal kicap ( sweet soy sauce + sliced shallots chilli n a squeeze of kalamansi lime)... theres also sambal belacan ( this is shrimp paste and chilli with some lime or tamarind for tartness), cencaluk {fermented small shrimps (udang geragau) in rice soaking water + shallots chilli and lime juice} and budu {fermented fish (especially anchovies) also with shallots and chilli with lime or sliced green sour mango}

    Awesome video!! just a tip though, next time you hit a 'ikan bakar' spot... you could ask the chef to cook 2 different styles for one fish... usually i went for half fish grilled, and another half cook as in 'ikan tiga rasa'...literally translate as fish in 3 flavors...it'll look like a sambal sauce, but it's a mix of spicy, sour and sweet flavors... hope you'll enjoy your food adventure!

    Sometimes Mark Weins doesn’t show enough desserts and sweet things, I’m glad you show both! Remember to caution your viewers that some places try to “cheat” and use food coloring instead of the blue pea flower to “dye “ the rice. Did they clean out the squid body for the squid sambal?
