  • your last chance to see teo amazing koi before they get taken to a private collectors home and never seen again.
a walk through the process of catching, bagging and transporting two exceptional fish by two old pros!
you could say that most koi disappear in this fashion, but some appear at shows and on various videos, we are pretty sure these two are just going to be enjoyed quietly in a customer built home pond.
the shiro utsuri was bought via video in Japan. Dennis selected this koi specifically for the customer and its an absolute stunner!

I agree but then some folks are all about trophy fish, they want them as adult sized fish, and can brag about how much they paid for them, growing on Tosai can be very rewarding but also annoying when they change for the worse rather than the better as they grow, in my experience anyway.

@@jeffharris4558 this is kind of what I like about growing them out YOUNG...its like the stock market, a little bit now could be a lot later on! sadly, you could spend thousands of dollars and end up with shiro muji!

That's what's great about this hobby though, there is something for everyone. In the same way someone might want to build a kit car or restore a classic, someone else just wants a Ferrari straight out of the showroom (if they can afford it why not). This particular person just wanted a small number of high end fish they could enjoy, knowing the breeders had put a lot of the hard work in. I don't agree with what used to go on in the 90's people going over to Japan a few weeks before the national koi show just to throw down a tonne of cash for a show beater. I don't think that sort of thing goes on anymore, but you never know! There were a few high profile characters in the hobby back then (not mentioning any record producers)

You guys need to sort out the way your keeping your koi in the Shirley aquatics store the koi are all sick I went yesterday and it was sickening especially the Israeli koi curled gills fungus growing on the side skinny looking weak sitting in the floor those fish need help and feeding properly they might not be worth 10000 pounds but there still fish I refuse to buy from this store again poor koi asked the guy why the gills are curled and he goes oh if you don’t like that one take this one it’s gills are not curled

I'm afraid this isn't correct. We posted a lot of videos of our koi on the same day you visited so hopefully people can see that the fish are all fit and well. They get fed a number of times a day, the kids pay to feed the fish so there is no chance of them being underfed. Curled gills (that is the membrane that extends beyond the gill plate rather than the gills themselves) is an unfortunate genetic issue that can be common in Israeli fish, and would certainly not something that is linked to poor health. You are more than welcome to book in and go and speak to Dennis at our Japanese koi centre. He is a sub contractor, doesn't work for our company, and would certainly help you with any queries or concerns. He has been dealing withkoi for over 40 years so there is nothing he couldn't help with
