    What the h***? This is NOT a garbage truck, has never BEEN a garbage truck. Expedition vehicles like this have been around for a number of years, and are usually much more expensive than most mobile homes. Yeah, they're gorgeous, and are custom built high expense vehicles.

    This isn't a "garbage truck" and never was at any point in its existence. It's a custom manufactured RV built on the frame of an all wheel drive military vehicle. It was featured on one of those extreme RV shows some time ago. Price was somewhere around a million bucks if I recall.

  • @mythril4
    @mythril4 10 лет назад +10

    THIS IS REAL, HERE IS HOW IT WORKS: Okay, pay attention to the beginning, in all four corners of the interior you'll see a chrome bar. Those are are the roof jacks, this RV doubles it's height when you raise the roof.
    The reason you don't see window outside is simply because the roof is lowered in the outside photo. The upper sidewalls, attached to the upper roof, raise with the roof exposing the windows. The roof is lowered for transport thus the upper sidewalls cover the windows. this is very cleaver for ruggedness, you can scrape trees and not bust your windows. The length is actually not as long, as some people expressed, the wide angle photograph makes the length appear longer, it's actually quite short.

      M Micelli My point is rather that they try to claim it to be a remake of some sort, when it's as little that as if I'd buy a Hummer and say "from military vehicle to bad azz off road car". Just because some of the same brand are made into military/garbage vehicles, doesn't make a new, unused and unequipped model that. It only becomes a garbage truck when it's used as one, and equipped as one.

      Actually I think it's behind the stairs. or, if you prefer behind the cooks back. That long flat wall. I loved the cab access. As for the windows, there seems to be a cover or flap that drops over them looks like the horizontal section of outside wall. Maybe to make then stone proof, or storm proof, even nuclear proof. Should the continents part a couple of inches and he be parked by the beach, he wouldn't even know. It fits easy and these are hidden windows. The frame sits on the inside of the cabin, not at the outside. The outside is like a cabinet door. You have to open it, bevore you open the windows. It`s to protect the windows from trees, thieves and attention.
    It`s standard on world travelling trucks.

      This is a "common" design for these types of expedition vehicles where a primary objective is being able to fit them inside a standard cargo container for shipment overseas to explore other continents. Calling it a "pop-up" camper seems strange considering the $$$ it takes to build one, yet that is exactly what it does...check out Expedition Portal is interested in seeing more like it...

    • @jimmyvega287

    ahh okay it amazing how you people believe this is on te inside of this truck , point one where are the windows at on outside and pt two this truck is not as wide at the truck shown

    • @atsernov
      @atsernov 9 лет назад +1

      It is the same truck, yes it is that wide. The white walls and the lens on the camera makes it look bigger. Look at the bottle of wine on the table and it becomes clear the space is only about 6 feet wide. The motorcycle on the back is a bit over 7 feet long, the truck then is 7.5-8 feet wide in exterior dimension.
      As for the windows... The roof rises to expose the windows and increase ceiling height. At 0:13 you can see two of the rams that lift the roof, it is also why there is a ledge going all they way around the perimeter above the windows. Notice on the exterior shot there is a seam a couple of inches above the door. Notice at 0:27 the windows are a couple of inches higher than the door? The that seam as at the bottom of the windows.
      The picture's from the outside are with the roof down, the pictures inside are with the roof up. I do wish they took a picture of it from the outside while the roof was up.

  • @djjasonjesse

    Hang on!! The inside shots show a fair few windows, the outside shots show none!! I think you are, shall we say, embellishing a little.............and unless you used lenses that distort distances to a great degree, there is no way all of that living area could fit the inside of that truck. What you showed on the inside looks easily to be twice as long as the available space in the truck when viewed from the outside. I challenge you to do an uncut video sequence of you going from the inside to the outside, just to show how wrong I am.

    • @dellasmom
      @dellasmom 10 лет назад

      That may solve the mystery of the disappearing windows, but not the VAST difference between the size of the vehicle in the outside shots as opposed to the inside ones. And if it was one of those that raise up or get wider, the "mechanism" is always apparent when it is extended, and if you look at the picture of the inside, there is no such thing visible.

  • @hxly2
    @hxly2 12 лет назад

    At 0:13 you can see the horizontal seam between the upper and lower part of the walls. In the far corner you can see 2 vertical bars which are probably part of the mechanism for raising and lowering the roof. It should be clear that when the roof is lowered, the upper part of the side wall slides down and covers the windows.

    You have to open the plates from the outside. This is for stealth camping and protection.
    You cut the window space out and make hinges on the original plate. Than bring a frame for the window to the inside of the cabin and voila, hidden windows!
    It`s normal for world traveling Trucks. You need it in very poor areas to provide attention.

  • @rayarena879

  • @DocFuglyMark
    @DocFuglyMark 11 лет назад

    I have to laugh at people calling this fake. the head/shower is probably behind the white door opposite the sink, the dinette and entryway are below the floor of the sleeping loft which doesn't rise with the roof, camera angles can make the interior look bigger than it may actually be and without a person for scale there is no way of seeing how cramped the interior might actually be. It's an interesting design even though I'm not a fan of telescoping compartment campers.

    In the first picture you can see a horizontal line just above the entrance door on the side, from this line up the sides and roof are moveable. so you can increase the height inside giving more internal space and some headroom above the bed. these moveable sides also cover up the side windows when the roof is lowered. Also to me it doesn't seem like a garbage truck at all, more like an all terrain purpose made vehicle based on a man truck. still a cool vehicle though

    That's because it's smarter than you think. Roof and sides are elevated uncovering the windows. Pictures taken outside is with the construction down - it's up on pictures of the interior. Notice hydrolic pistons in corners inside. This is a very sneaky vehicle. I would have had the outsides look more like a wreck. Fake rust and dirt - some tacks - maybe a smell...

    Those are Light boxes used for Seasonal affective disorder treatments, I have seen these RV's at shows before. The light boxes do look like windows, just letting you know.

    this isn't a garbage truck, they usually don't have 6WD, this is a off road truck with a special made cabine as a motorhome

    I'm sorry to disappoint everyone but that is and never was a garbage truck, It's an expedition vehicle from the company Unicat which specializes in them.

    It looks better than most apartments. As to the comment on the smell, not any worse than some people's places. LOL I bet everyone either had or has a friend who has trouble cleaning after himself.

    This particular model is a slide version. you can see it at 1:21. The roof slides up, when you stay and you lower it, when you drive.

    Not a garbage truck. It's a custom designed off-road RV. It didn't start off as a garbage truck and never served in that role, it's not a conversion as the title leads one to think, it's a vehicle designed from the ground up as an 'extreme' RV.

    It's all real--except that's not a garbage truck. It's an all-terrain research vehicle. I've spent a few summers in the field in one of those. A comfortable, go anywhere vehicle. It's just not made from a garbage truck. Just enjoy the video. It's a cool rig.
