The zipper looks like metal, but it's actually nylon with a high sheen finish, it's a #3 in size. Our batting and products are our Sweet Pea Essentials range of products. The batting is our Luscious Loft stabilised Viscose batting (soft as silk but firm like felt). Thank you for watching and taking time to contact us. :)
What needle to use for PU? Beautiful project!! I hate the washi - tape I find it comes off!!! Also I keep the batting trimmings it makes great stuffing!!!
Batting trimming does make great stuffing. With our PU or Cork, we start out with an embroidery 75/11 needle but if we feel that we need something a little more heavy, we may go to a metallic or Microtel 80/12 or 90/14. For very dense embroidery through layers of PU a Jeans 100/16 can also come to the party but the machine needs to be slowed down. Our Washi tape sticks really well, we love it but we do use it quite fast so it's not hanging around being un-used. A zip-lock bag can help the wash tape not dry out.
I'm using the 6 x 10 hoop for this demonstration. The base fabric for the flap is a PU Vinyl, not a marine vinyl. The Polyurethane product has a knit fabric laminated to the underside to make it more user friendly.
Can you somehow in written instructions or somewhere tell people to flip or rotate the pattern if their machine connects the hoop on the right? You can't get the lining out of the way to the right on a Janome or Elna like 500e or 550e or 830L. The pattern has to be rotated so the excess rolled up fabric is on the left not the right...
There are only 4 machines on the market that are made like this. We can't accomodate every brand of machine in our notes. We test on Janome sometimes too, so we are aware of this. Most of our Janome customers, once they have skimmed through the notes, realise that they need to rotate the design to deal with any lining fabric that scoots past the hoop edge. We do understand your plight.
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing the techniques.
Thanks for explaining reverse applique
Is the zipper metal??? What sort of batting do you use?? You are a great teacher and make excellent videos!! Absolutely stunning bag!!!

Martyn what size hoop are you using? What is your first fabric, marine vinyl?

What is PU?
It's a faux leather with a knitted backing.
