    Just observed my certified Triumph mechanic do a full first service, including oil and filter. He replaced all 3 drain plug washers and pre-filled filter as per manual. He also changed final drive oil, replaced that drain washer too. Watch when pivoting lower rad guard as anchoring rubber o ring tends to fall out or be sticky when repositioning.

    You don't need to put PTFE tape on a parallel thread plug. The plug seals on the sealing washer. Just make sure they're clean and not damaged.

    Finally someone thought about checking the oil level. Because those ideas that the motorcycle should run at idle speed for 3 minutes, then be turned off for 3 minutes and check the oil level through the window under the engine while the motorcycle is standing could only be... those who have a stand or other helpers at their disposal. Certainly not the motorcyclist himself.
    Here, however, it is interesting that it has 3 drain valves. And the approach to the filter is also interesting. But at least the bike looks perfect, the oil is not changed every week.

    Öljynvaihdossa on erittäin tärkeää että ennenkuin öljyt lasketaan pois on moottorin oltava KÄYNTILÄMPÖINEN! Koska kuivasumppu öljynvoitelu järjestelmä kylmänä kaikki öljyt eivät tule pois ja näin vaarana öljyn ylitäyttö . Lisäksi uusi öljynsuodatin tulisi esitäyttää öljyllä ennen paikoilleen kiertämistä.

    • @TeemuBT
      @TeemuBT  Год назад +2

      Kyllä, juuri niin..👌 Tämä lähinnä pikaohje, eikä siihen jokaista ilmiselvää asiaa ole laitettu, mitkä normaali mekaanikko tietää.. Tosin tämä pyörä tulee todella tyhjäksi kylmänäkin, jotkut harrikat tiedän mitkä ei tule.. 👌😃
      Lisään tähän kuitenkin tuon toisen näkökannan tuosta suodattimen esitäytöstä, öljy kiertäessään tulee suodattimelle ulkolaidasta ja lähtee moottorille sisäpuolelta, siksi suodattimen esitäyttö on myös riski, ellei voi olla täysin varma että sinne ei varmasti pääse yhtään epäpuhtautta, muuten se on suoraan moottorin laakeripinnoilla.. Siksi esim hydraulikkaajärjesyelmissä täyttö tehdään aina uittamalla öljy suodattimen läpi.. Ja olen nähnyt niin hurjia suodattimen esitäyttöjä, että piti jo puuttua asiaan, pahoittelut heille, kelle siitä mainitsin.. 🙂

      @TeemuBT  Год назад +2

      @@pekkavuorela" should", I guess you mean "can also be"..
      That "w" there means "winter", so cold area. And that "50" means viscosity when 100c. If cold oil is little thiner, it is better for engine when cold oil closer to warm viscosity.
      Basicly in every engine, you can go thiner oil in a gold side and thicker oil at the warm side (at warm side there is a limit, that you dont go too thick). If recomended oil is 15w/50, there is no problem to go as low as 5w/50 or even 0w/50 (this oil grade is really rare). Or on hot side go up to 10w/60, this is little thicker so when engine hot and on low rews, when oil pump is rotating slow, oil pressure is low, it keeps the oil film better. But at high rews thick oil can be a resistance and it can warm the oil it self umder its own resistance. It depens of the engine and engine clearances. Some engines need thicker oil when on heavy use, because too low grade oil can go too thin when hot and that is not good for the engine. 😃

    • @TeemuBT
      @TeemuBT  10 месяцев назад

      @@MegatdanMeor as I wrote above, you can go lower at cold side or higher at warm side, so i wouldn't recommend that 10w/40 oil for you to use,because it goes lower viscosity at warm side.
      Example 10w/50 is ok, or like 15w/60 is ok, or even 10w/60 is ok..😃

    Has anyone tried 20w50 in their Rocket, after 3500 miles in 6 months I burned a quart in a half of 15w50. The manual says 15w50 but would 20w50 hurt, I'm in a warm climate.

    • @TeemuBT
      @TeemuBT  Год назад +1

      Well, that "w" means "winter", so basicly cold start and with 20w cold start minimum is like 5c.. So I dont think that making the cold side of the oil thicker will help.. You can try different brands, there is difference in viscosity, even they all say the viscosity is 50.. Or you can go up to like 10w/60.. That higher numer, like here the 60 is the viscosity when oil temp is 100c, so 60 is thicker than 50 when warm engine.. 🙂😃

    Why do you PTFE the plugs?

    • @TeemuBT
      @TeemuBT  Год назад +4

      Good question, thank you for that..👌
      I've learned over time that, with only washer, it might leak a bit, just that much that it wont leak, but kind of breath and oil the area around the plug.. Dust sticks to that thin thin oil film around the plug and messes the area.. This doesnt happen very offen, but I do so many different oil changes, that it is never wanted to get customer feedback from "leaking" plug.. So, now days I PTFE every plug that is with washer.. If there is a possibility to PTFE go in a wrong place, like go in engines oil circulation, then I dont use it.. When plud is with o-ring, then I dont use PTFE.. 😀
