The pitch wobble in the 2nd track is horrible, i couldn't continue. If someone is not realizing that everything above quarter tone sounds unmusical and straining to the ear, i don't know what else to say... Or at least exclude the melody parts (and yes, i mean the "sequencing" as well - if it's in the foreground, it has a melodic function too).
Now, I don't know about musical technicalities like you just mentioned, but this sound is made for 80s and 90s kids. Hearing the distortion is an immediate serotonin rush because it reminds me of all the worn out cassette tapes of beloved music. We couldn't afford to buy new tapes so we listened to them until it died. Good times.
