Yep. It happens too much doesn't it. I preferred the days where we just watched DW as it aired and did not spend forever speculating on everything before a new season. The same old talk over and over. I am not like other fans in that I am tired and don't watch 200 hours of speculation across RUclips for only about ten hours of the actual show. It feels as if fans prefer speculation over the show itself. It's a strange modern world. A lot of obsessiveness seems the norm these days. Cheers.
@peterthompson1989 I am glad someone ele thinks the same. Each to their own of course but it just seems a waste of entire hours and even days if one just sits and speculates about everything to do with just one tv show, or movie or whatever. The show after all will have it's airing day and then it can be fully enjoyed. Have to have some balance in life. I actually do give Tharries credit though for not sitting in front ofa book shelf full of hundreds of toy figures etc... And he is genuinely a very likeable kind individual (I don't want people to misread my intentions as a dig at him) plus he is young at might not have as many responsibilties as others - then again he might who knows. I just have enough time in a day. It's more the overarching crazinessness that can consume fandom I am sort of nagging on about. The amount of money some people spend on merchandise is beyond belief. I wouldn't mind writing a book when I retire about the levels, groups and psychology of fandom. We could co-write and share the credits and endless fame from the masses. Catch you and have a top week. from a silly fool down under. jk
@@triplejazzmusicisall1883 I think some activeness in fandom is fine but people do read into things too much. I remember a few people during series 6 showing a scene in the trailer for that series that showed omega returning and anyone who disagreed was wrong. People will read into things far too much. A bit of speculation is fine but sometimes you can take the fun out by over analysing. Reminds me when I was at uni doing my degree in TV and Film production. There was a couple of people who were the kind of people who seemed to only watch deep films and would look down at some stuff that was to me hell entertaining.

That’s how it reads to me, too. Ncuti loves being the Doctor and it looks like he wants to say something, but knows that it’s RTD’s place to say it. RTD gives a very diplomatic answer that assures that stuff is still happening and proceeding as planned, but not confirming anything officially before its time.
@@cheapfinish6224 ye, but the show wasn't consistently in the top 10 ratings on the platforms it was broadcasting on, had spin-offs in the works, was pivotal in an entire country's media landscape, or was one of the biggest money makers for the BBC back in 1989. The position of the show compared to '89 is night and day.
@@Kels1701e there's next to no chance of it being cancelled. News outlets are just constantly saying it will be with 0 sources or evidence because controversy brings in views. If you look at the facts from the people actually making it then: Russel said they exceeded the BBC's original plans when they brought him back. Disney considers Doctor Who a low investment show and gave them a big spot at hall H in comicon. And we haven't heard anything from bad wolf studios but the actual evidence shows that at least 2/3 of the companies making the show are happy with it.
The travesty is that when it was cancelled in 1989, it was vastly improved over what had come before. In this case, 2024, the show is at rock bottom. Chibnall and RTD have butchered the show and now no one wants to watch. I say RIP, reboot it in ten years or so.
@dredd1981 I disagree profoundly. I think RRD has saved the show with better Stories etc. Chibnell unfortunately was a low point that we will probably feel better about with time.
I am a proud lover of Jodie ❤ she will forever be my top doctor. I hate seeing the venom spewed about Jodie and Ncuti. I have constructive criticism for Ncuti but no hate.
Article keeps saying "shock" to add shock to something that's not even worth raising an eyebrow over. Non-news being framed through sensationalism as something it's not. It's completely normal to get picked up for one season at a time. Cartoons sometimes get early or multi-season pickups for practical reasons, but in live-action, one season is the standard pickup, and it usually happens between seasons. There is nothing remotely shocking about any comment I've heard from Davies or Gatwa. This article is just dishonest trash "journalism".
Gatwa already said before he signed on that he was only doing 2 Seasons and then he's off to do Theatre. I have been telling everyone that the Doctor's and the Companions will be changing a lot more often now. You can't get a character study in just 8 episodes per Season.
That's not what Gatwa said. He said his initial contract was for 2 seasons (filmed back to back as we saw). After that he said it was undecided whether he'd immediately do a 3rd season or take a break doing theater. Key word there: Break. Right now it's just a pause. He's made it very clear it is his intention to do a 3rd year.
I think that Russell T Davies has not made a decision yet about Ncuti being in the third series, so we will have to wait and see. I hope Ncuti will stay, and at least have done three series before leaving.
I just had a revelation. What if the meep’s “boss” is RTD? He keeps being called the “boss” of doctor who which I don’t think has been a title given to other showrunners. This also fits with how there’s this more intense 4th wall breaking stuff in this era!
There are two real issues here. Firstly, do Disney want to keep investing in Dr Who? Secondly, if they don’t will anyone else want to make the show? Regarding the first issue, the state of affairs at Disney Plus will be the deciding factor as much as, if not more so, than the ratings and commercial success of Dr Who. Disney Plus has gone through a tough time and they’ve been losing subscribers, and money, at quite a significant rate. Disney has, over the last few years, sold off a lot of their assets and have even pulled shows from Disney Plus very quickly (see what they did with Willow). Even if Dr Who is a roaring success in its own right, if Disney need to make cuts then how highly do they value this quaint British show that they’ve only been involved with a short while? On the second issue, there have been rumours that the BBC was going to drop the show and that Flux only got the green light by the skin of its teeth. There are also rumours that the prospect of Disney involvement is the only reason why the BBC gave the go ahead for any more shows after Jodie Whittaker and Chris Chibnall went. That being said, rumours aren’t necessarily facts. We also have to factor in Bad Wolf’s involvement. Shortly after it was announced that they were making the show, it was also announced that Sony had brought Bad Wolf and had invested a lot of money into it. That means a potentially better budget than the BBC had for the show. Maybe not as much as they’re getting with the Disney a plus deal, but still enough to make a good show. Personally I don’t like the show very much at the moment. If I’m honest, I haven’t really thought highly of it for about 10 years and I was ready to walk away from new Who in 2013. It was only the fact that they pulled such a blinder on the 50th celebrations that I stayed with the show. But then, I’m a Classic Who fan at heart and it’s a very different show. But despite my own feelings about the show, if enough people still want to see it then there’s no reason why they shouldn’t make it. People were speculating that the show was going to be cancelled throughout the whole of Chibnall’s run, but it didn’t happen. Who knows? (Pun not intended. Alright, yes it was!)
I think if Disney stopped making the show Amazon Prime might take over. It's that or Netflix but I highly doubt that would happen. I mean Netflix doesn't have a good record of making only one series and then stopping. Then again DW is pretty big and a lot of people love it
With Flux you have to consider that there was also the major issue of the pandemic at the time. A lot of how the series ended up was down to covid restrictions.
I’d recommend watching the Frasier episode where his agent tries to secure him a bigger deal with his radio station. What all this means is no contract has been signed so no, they can’t talk about it. And yes this is completely normal in the business. But also, it helps with the season two cliffhanger…
I think they will announce season 3 after the Christmas special. He will probably have his regeneration in the 2026 Christmas special, if I had to guess.
I mean it looks like they don't even know if Disney wants to fund series 3 and I suppose Russell and the rest of the cast need to know beforehand if they are going to fund it or just pull out, they need to know if they need to film with a larger or a smaller budget. filming is not meant to start until like early 2025 so there is still time to decide if he wants to stay or not. so I don't think there is any point worrying about it until we know more information, as obviously there is time to decide if he wants to stay or not and we just making up assumptions with a lack of information
I think he’ll do the usual 3 seasons . Every Doctor has been hated by the haters since the show was revived. It’s people with narrow minds and who expect everything thing to be like when they were 8 years old.
I can see him leaving. He's got plenty of things outside DW. Considering they are due to start filming Season 3 until next spring. I would love to see a midseason regeneration. He starts Season 3 but he regenerates midway thru that season.
Personally I think he likely will be the Dr through the entire Disney era .... He's the brand of the era ....it wouldn't shock me if he leaves Christmas 2025 as he's so fully booked with things BUT I would be gutted because Gatwa was hardly in series 14 like hardly at all! Compared to his peers Boom and the two part finale showcased what his doctor could be .....so hope he can continue to grow and bloom in the role I want to like him....well I want to adore him 💙💙
Even if ncuti gets three seasons with 8-9 episodes each he’ll have what, 27 or 28 episodes total?? Tennant and smith had 40+ from doing three series each didn’t they. No matter how you roll the dice we’ll always feel he was short lived (unless he actually does more than 3 series)
Even if doctor who was cancel or put on pause for a few years the BBC would still make millions of pound anyway from (classic who and new who) DVD boxset, Toys and many other things! The BBC were still making million in the 15 years it was off air between 1989-2005!
To be fair, production on S3/16 doesn't need to start for another year to get a 2026 release, so whether Ncuti is leaving likely won't be locked in for a good few months. At the earliest I see him departing, if the show is renewed, is the 2025 special, though I wouldn't be surprised if they at least do a set of specials to send him off. Personally I hope at minimum he gets 30 episodes, considering Tennant to Whittaker got 30-50 episodes to prove themselves in the role.
Bros acting like the shows cancelled, The show raked in tons of money they aint cancelling it, people could hate it but its a classic and rakes in millions
The standard thing is to tell everyone you’re not sure until the contract is signed. Basically if you’re too eager they can talk you down. “Well, I’m not sure…” means they need to up their offer! If he did leave I could be available to play the Doctor in spite of zero acting experience - it will be really popular way after I’ve left, you ask George Lazenby. But I’m not sure.
The best doctor ever only had 2 series. Better to leave you wanting more than wanting less, then again, I'd like a doctor to do more than 3 series just to break what seems to be king the normal
Just like with Jodie, Ncuti was hated and given up on by a lot of fans as soon as he was announced. Before a single episode had been released people were showing signs of hate, intolerance and ignorance. Is his version of the doctor for me as of yet? No. Do I appreciate that many people adore him and that he represents a lot of what people want to see… yes! But certain “fans” of the show are just spewing hatred and in many cases it is due to them disliking his race and/or the fact that this Doctor happens to be gay. I get constructive criticism but not seeing much of that. I wish people would just realize that The Doctor is about change, evolution and difference. It can’t just be a middle aged white man each time. He is a time traveling alien… I hope we get more and more variety with the doctors. On a lighter note my top 2 doctors are 1: Jodie and 2: Peter. My top 2 companions are 1: Martha and 2: Bill ❤ who were your top 2’s?
He hasn't always been middle aged, neither Smith nor Tennant or Peter Davison were. It's got nothing to do with hate, he's appallingly bad, as are the stories.
Surely it all depends on any contracts? If he signed for two seasons, then fine, it was a mutual decision all sides are aware of and would plan for. It’s like folk saying actors or shows are sacked or cancelled when what they mean is a contract isn’t being renewed. Business.
@@brewster_4 Fortunately, I don't think it's the same situation, due to the more positive relationship between Russell and Gatwa, Colin has stated he theoretically would've done a third season despite his disappointment, but JNT wanted to leave himself so was less committed to bargain for the full s24, so only offered the first story, which Colin mostly declined for logicistal/scheduling reasons. At minimum Ncuti will probably do a set of specials in 2026 to send his Doctor off, if not the full season.
Sadly, despite many people stating that viewer numbers don’t matter (don’t be silly, of COURSE they do and they always HAVE), factors like the show only appearing a couple of times in the Disney figures (and then only getting as high as number 6 for a week before vanishing - being beaten by old shows like The Simpsons for heaven’s sake) will, in all probability, mean that Disney will drop funding for the show. Similar alarming initial viewer figures for terrestrial and streaming on iPlayer MAY affect the BBC’s decision to carry on - and possibly this will be dependent on whether the BBC can find another backer (Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime etc). If no backer can be found, it’s likely that a third VERY short season will happen (maybe made up of “specials” three or four times throughout the year) before the show is either put on hiatus or dropped completely. It happened before after all - and with higher viewing figures than the show is currently exhibiting. Of course, it’ll be sad but, arguably, “resting” the show might allow for great stories to be stockpiled (the episodes for season14/1 were very hit and miss, unfortunately) and also allow any prospective audience to actually be excited ‘en masse’ for the show’s return. As for RTD…he’ll probably get back to ‘kitchen sink’ dramas along the lines of It’s A Sin or Years And Years. Gatwa is using (and will use) the show as a jumping point to get more theatre work and for getting parts in movies rather than television shows (he already started this playing one of the Kens in the “Barbie” movie) - and, if I’m honest, I was already concerned about his commitment when it transpired he wasn’t available for the initial filming “block” (hence 73 Yards was filmed first and Dot & Bubble second - with Gatwa coming on board towards the end of filming that episode). Prior actors have always been “chomping at the bit” to start work as the Doc so this was in stark contrast - even allowing for the fact that he was finishing off filming Sex Education. As an example, when Capaldi took on the role, he was simultaneously filming three other shows (and he’s considerably older than Gatwa), yet he was in every episode from day 1. A bit of a rambling, long-winded post, I know but just my observations and opinions. At heart - and being a long term fan of the show (from 1964 onwards) - I think a certain “tiredness” and the substitution of “message” over story and character development warrants the show going on hiatus to “recharge”, maybe for 5-10 years so that the hunger and off-the-scale excitement returns.
I’d say it specialization since doctors have been only sticking around for three seasons and special or two at the end then leave and since season 2 is close to being done then he has one year left as long as it doesn’t get canceled.
I thought 2 season runs were a good way forward tbh from the start, I wouldve loved to see rusell do 3... 2 season runs before leaving so we see 3 doctors. and maybe a 3 doctor sendoff story would be cool.
I would like to see the traditional Doctor Who to return, an actor in his late 40's, early 50's, educational and historical, what it was originally meant to be. A William Hartnell like figure and not all this romantic drama or personal agenda in your face.
@@Rogers1000when everyone watched four channels and very few people had VCRs. Effectively, given the massive shift in the market, doctor who gets much better ratings than it did in the 80s. It’s a top three show.
@@jbaldwin1970in the early 80s very few families had a VCR. By the late 80s, when the show got cancelled, well over half the households in Britain had one. I didn’t know a single person under the age of 65 in 1989 who didn’t have one in their home. By the late 80s the cost for VCR players, and recordable cassettes, had come down significantly and the increase in affordable movie rental stores in most towns had made them extremely popular.
Ncuti probably doesn’t know if he’ll be the Doctor for series 3 and if he does leave the show, that’s fine, that’s the concept of doctor who which is about change and regeneration. It’ll be unfortunate to see ncuti go but we’ll be excited to see the next doctor and the next era of doctor who.
Who knows if he'll stay, I would say the biggest motivation to not stay would be the security crap he has to go through because of rightwing nutters. It's got to be taxing dealing with BS like that. If he can endure I'd love to see him do 4 seasons, break the 3 year curse so all future Doctors can be rid of the expectation. This last season had some great episodes, and some Meh episodes, but it didn't have a single one make me shout at the screen like with Chibs, so it is headed in the right direction. It was on par with Eccleston Series 1 and I really hope this next season is as good as the Martha or Donna seasons.

If Russell is only writing for 4 seasons then I think it would be better two split between two different doctors! Ncuti doing two seasons and another doctor who two seasons. Otherwise it would be a bit unfair for another actor two do only one season.
Russell hasn’t confirmed if he’ll do more than 4 seasons or not. And even if he does and Ncuti does 3 it doesn’t mean a new showrunner would have to introduce a new doctor. Moffatt wanted Tennant for another series so could happen
I think all this sensationalized speculation is really just an effect of the show becoming more popular again, people care, so in order to get clicks and attention, outlets drum up some "potential drama" from barely anything at all. So, if anything, it's a good sign 😅

Gatwa was not the problem but the writing of him, the narrative and the characterisation was appalling. RTD seems to not have cared. He became captured by his own ideology. In addition RTD became extraordinarily lazy in his writing. Chibnall had been known as a really lazy writer and lawsuits were threatened and credits were changed on Broadchurch because the notion that he wrote it individually was a lie. RTD seems to have done a Chibnall and he's produced a pile of crap. Gatwa is, undoubtedly, talented and he has charisma but he needs to written around rather than leant into solely because he happens to be a gay black man. Think Ian McKellen who was always appalled at the idea that he should ever be considered to play only a certain type and no one considers him a poor actor in any way. RTD believes he's fighting a war but the enemy doesn't exist in any substantive form. RTD is the one who needs to go.
The problem isn't with Ncuti. Given great stories with satisfying reveals would help immensely. I think RTD has been asked to provide at least one season and a spin off. Once this is done i think he will feel he has done what was asked and will then move on. I have no beef with the LGBT+, my brother is gay and proud of him but having seen the shameful parody of the last supper mocking Jesus's last supper before crucifixion shows that there is severe lack of judgement and feel this has creeped into series 14. I think in 5 years series 14 will be outdated with new world challenges.

Hey there Tharries! Maybe first time I comment here. I think it needs to go back to the 1st RTD or Moffat era. Not so happy with these scenarios, how the Doctor is written. No whyning Doctor in every episode! He IS The Doctor and I know He must stand up! He just said to himself , after bi-generating, to stop running and settle and he be taking over the torch. So I think RTD² must go a bolder way with Ncuti's Doc. What do you think? Greetz from Belgium.
Please let it be true. I watched the trailer for the Christmas episode, which was fine at first, but then my heart sank when he walked in. It's like a caricature
@bitlost2809 this is to much change and his portrayal of the doctor I don't very much like this also may be due to the poor writing. It's just an opinion 🤷
I think most real fans would agree. It's why the viewing figures are so low. I personally wouldn't have picked him for the role, but he fits the woke diversity quoters. Being ethnic and🏳️🌈. They have forgotten he is an alien and not human and not of this era.
@Sam-zu5mr there is no need to say "real fans" as as all the change they do just divides the fans to but in this case your right it currently fits a niche audience that previously doctor who was wasn't at all aimed at this much. And also totally agree that they made him more human then Necessary. At this point he isn't really the doctor as well as the over used crying might portray as really a young adolescent human.
@@DeusLucifer when I say real fans. I mean people who have watched the show for many years, who get the shows format and are very aware it's been changed to fit the woke narrative of modern day life. If all fails, they just replace the show runner, regenerate the Doctor and change the TARDIS interior and bring in a new companion. For now we will see how far this era of the show goes and how long it lasts. It's not my favourite era, but it's only been season one. So who knows yet.

I agree, said that from the beginning he his just playing Ncuti. And as for Matt Smith played Matt etc. lol oh dear how wrong. Matt took inspiration from Troughtons Doctor with his mannerisms especially with hands as he talks, Peter did for his 5th Doctor. And yes Tom played Tom, but at least he had the range when required, Ncuti seems limited and has a shows limited acting range, he just seems lacking and I think ultimately a wrong choice, so two in a row of bad actor choices unfortunately and with that and the writing, this is why where in this precarious situation.

Fact is, no one knows if it's coming back, it's been so badly received. It needs to be cancelled for the good of the show. Oh, and the spin off? It was included in the deal with Disney, it had to be made, no matter what, just sayin'....
@@brewster_4 I said no one knows if it's coming back, that includes myself. Are you saying that's incorrect? Do you know ? You can spin it any way you like, the numbers aren't good in regard to viewing figures and definitely not what Disney Execs would have been expecting. @@Farsight-nc1ib "Fact is, no one knows if it's coming back, it's been so badly received" No one knows whether it's been badly received. Doctor Who was consistently in the top 10 most watched shows on the BBC. The BBC has said that they're happy with the viewing figures. They met all their expectations. We don't know what the Disney execs were expecting (you can speculate all you like, but you still can't be certain), and we don't even know what the Disney+ numbers are. You could argue "if it was a hit, Disney+ would've said so" but that argument leaves out so many factors that we don't know like, how much do they really care about Doctor Who in the first place, what were their expectations going in, how much money do they even have on the line in this deal, etc.
@@brewster_4 I think viewing figures tell you how it was received by the public. Viewing figures have been spiralling downwards for a long time, but the difference in them between the specials last year and the latest season, suggests the public aren't too enamoured with Doctor Who. Even Davies said he would have liked them to be better. In other words, it didn't meet expectations. First it was the overnight figures don't count, it was the 7 day figures that mattered, that's been pushed back to 28 days. As I said, you can dress it up, spin it, push the goalposts back, stick your head in the sand or just waffle like you are, the show is in trouble.
@@Farsight-nc1ib Viewing figures mean nothing without the context behind them. You can say for example 4 million people watched Doctor Who one night. Okay? What does that mean? You need the context behind it to actually understand whether that number is good or bad. You need to look at things like how many people typically tune into that show, how many people watched TV that night, how did the shows that aired before and after it do, what do other similar shows typically get, etc. While yes viewing figures have been going down, that is a trend with terrestrial TV overall. If you look at Doctor Who’s weekly rankings it is consistently in the top 10 (McCoy’s era was getting higher viewing figures, but wasn’t even in the top 100, and that’s when there were less channels). In terms of the 60th specials compared to season 1, it’s kind of obvious that season 1 was going to be lower. The 60th specials were a big event bringing back David Tennant. They were always going to be higher than a normal season. Specials are when more casual audiences tune in. You’re taking what Russell said out of context. This is the full quote: “I mean, no, to be honest - I'm very proud of it! You know, they might not be the ratings we'd love. We always want higher. But they are building over the 28-day period. Episode one, "Space Babies", is already up to 5.6 million and counting. So it is getting there. And actually, I was brought back to bring in a younger audience. That's been massively successful. The audience no one ever gets are the under-30s. They just don't watch television anymore. But those figures are astronomic for Doctor Who, it's their top programme in that bracket. I never thought it was possible, to be honest. But according to the people who juggle the numbers, all targets have been reached and exceeded. The BBC are running around like mad things.” So now that we’re all on the same page, and we know exactly what the quote was, this is Russell saying that for the BBC all the targets that they wanted to reach have been hit. ie it reached all their expectations. Obviously a showrunner is going to want their show to get higher and higher ratings, and while Russell may have been expecting something different the BBC weren’t (and last time I checked it was the BBC commissioning Doctor Who not RTD). The show clearly is not in trouble based on all of this. It’s more likely than not that the BBC commissions a 3rd season, whether Disney+ will be involved though is up in the air as they held their cards very close to their chest through all of this.
When I said I wanted him to break the 3 season trend, this is not what I meant 😭
Another day, another article clickbaiting Ncuti leaving with literally no evidence
Cheers.
@@triplejazzmusicisall1883Yeah it felt like people were speculating who could replace Capaldi before his first series had fully aired
@@peterthompson1989 Elitists at university similrly mocked a lot of the music and tv I loved. There's a place for everything surely. I enjoyed reading your comment and your thoughful sentiment. I am confident your degree subject was very interesting and engaging. All the best to you.
To be honest that doesn’t look like a nervous look, that looks like an excited look, like they’ve got something cooking that they can’t wait to share.

If he does go then the episodes will drop by 2 down to 6 episodes
I hope Ncuti lasts longer than 2 seasons. I don't think I could stand Doctor Who being cancelled again. Broke my heart last time.
You can't have both. Either Ncuti continues and the show gets cancelled, or he leaves and we try with somebody else.
This literally happens every season how do you people forget? When they choose to leave there will be an official announcement.
I am really enjoying Ncuti as the Doctor, Honestly I want him to stay for at least another few more seasons. but we’ll see what happens. 😊
I think that Russell T Davies has not made a decision yet about Ncuti being in the third series, so we will have to wait and see. I hope Ncuti will stay, and at least have done three series before leaving.
A shocking cliff hanger would be if they did the regeneration, and he just vanished.
I just had a revelation. What if the meep’s “boss” is RTD? He keeps being called the “boss” of doctor who which I don’t think has been a title given to other showrunners. This also fits with how there’s this more intense 4th wall breaking stuff in this era!
Nice idea. Even Rogue says something about having a "new boss"
These discussions are pointless. All we're debating is whether his eventual series count is 2 or 3. I'm sure it will be 3, it normally is.
We should focus on episode counts! At this rate he won’t even have done the equivalent of Hartnell’s first six months 😅
@@jbaldwin1970 but hartnell did like 5 four parters very very often
Ncuti is a fantastic actor, I really hope he doesn't leave, I feel his Doctor NEEDS to have 3 to 4 seasons before he goes, he has so much potential
I agree I just hope future seasons with him have more organic and nuanced acting choices.
@@JuiceMyRandomness Totally with you on that. All good vibes is boring, and we could do with less crying
5:09 that quote was said in the Deadline article, so definitely taking it with a grain of salt.
Jesus Christ, Jodie's your favourite? You need better standards before anyone takes your opinion seriously, and which Peter Davison or Crapaldi?
1: Matt Smith
2: David Tennant
1: Amy Pond
2: Donna Noble
He hasn't always been middle aged, neither Smith nor Tennant or Peter Davison were. It's got nothing to do with hate, he's appallingly bad, as are the stories.
@cheapfinish6224 Are you just realizing people have different opinions from you? I know it is appalling the first time you leave your echo chamber.

Surely it all depends on any contracts? If he signed for two seasons, then fine, it was a mutual decision all sides are aware of and would plan for. It’s like folk saying actors or shows are sacked or cancelled when what they mean is a contract isn’t being renewed. Business.
Colin Baker was fired. The BBC chose not to renew his contract while he wanted to continue. That's still being fired.

Why give attention to this clickbait article? All that to say they dont know...
Well, If it is true, be happy that he still got his 3 Seasons, but i wanted him to break it
He doesn't have 3 seasons yet, the third isn't commissioned, not even close to it.
I’d say it specialization since doctors have been only sticking around for three seasons and special or two at the end then leave and since season 2 is close to being done then he has one year left as long as it doesn’t get canceled.

He will be out as doctor after 2nd season.

I said he doesnt like the work schedule but people poo pooed me, I said months ago, now the rumours are actually hitting the headlines of places, see i dont lie folks
Rumors are still only that. Rumors. I remember back in 2019 there were rumors that Jodie Whittaker would leave at the end of Series 12. Look how that turned out.
@@brewster_4 what?, those rumours are saying the same thing I had from a friend who works on set saying Ncuti doesn't like the amount of work the role has, I had the extra info that he asked Russell if he could make the show more an ensemble like sex education so he's not on screen all the time
@@Rogers1000 Yep you definitely have a "friend" on set. This totally wasn't pulled out your ass.
@@brewster_4 of course I'm lying yes because 99% of people do, I know I'm telling the truth so meh, and i only said this exact months ago so ofc I'm lying
@@Rogers1000 People have been parroting the type of things you say since 2022.
Doctor Who is pants !
Youve basically got Ncuti Gatwa playing Ncuti Gatwa !
The writing is terrible ! 😂
Remember back in 2010 when Matt Smith played essentially Matt Smith
or how in 1974 Tom Baker played Tom Baker
or how in 1970 Jon Pertwee approached the role as playing an idealized version of himself
This isn't new.
@@lanceuppercut3498 Ncuti has a lack of range? Have we even been watching the same guy?
And go watch any Matt Smith interview. It's literally just a less cool version of the 11th Doctor. Talking with his hands? He didn't get that from Troughton. That's all normal Smith right there.
@@brewster_4sorry, no one knows the real Tom Baker for a start. As for Gatwa, he's just wooden and clueless.
Worst doctor ever… followed by Jodie
Let the Doctor go off into the universe, already. Disney ruined this series.
The show needs a soft reboot timeless child is a mistake

@@mohdamin6641 You're going to be 90 some day still complaining about one random Doctor Who episode that aired in 2020. Just think about how sad that is for a moment
@@brewster_4if the show was never revived there’d probably still be people ranting about the “half-human” comment from the movie
There's a golden rule, no making money while filming who, outside planned stage he doing...why he now signing 120+ a sig in November - cos he not the doctor??
How is that at all a rule? When has anyone said that’s a rule? In fact loads of other Doctors have made money while filming Who
Going to assume that's a joke, would be sad if people genuinely thought like this, there are multiple examples of Doctor actor working on projects during their tenures, Davison was on like 3 shows at once, Colin had to do JNT's Cinderella, Tennant did Shakespeare on stage. Comic Con can be insanely expensive sometimes, Eccleston charges similar prices. Plus cost of living, guy's got to make a money.
@@di7770 didn't say they can't work that would be silly but charging for signatures while on a programme etc, no...wait for them to sign outside stage/ filming is free, can you say where previous drs did charge while working on who??...fees are set by organiser and agent, when you hot price high which is getting out of hand really but then so is price of everything...I hope he hasn't gone after he's 2nd season, really enjoying his performance so far!!
He's allegedly already left
Currently he's not left, however it's up in limbo, he's definitely not shot a regeneration scene, so it's untrue now but could eventually depending on if/when the show is renewed.
If only...
My useless speculation is that Ncuti wants more money and has prospects outside of Who.
Doubt it.
@@happyclam1266 No one cares what you think.
Fact is, no one knows if it's coming back, it's been so badly received. It needs to be cancelled for the good of the show. Oh, and the spin off? It was included in the deal with Disney, it had to be made, no matter what, just sayin'....
"Fact is"? Really? The fact is you don't have any more clue about the behind the scenes production of Doctor Who than the rest of us.
@@brewster_4 I said no one knows if it's coming back, that includes myself. Are you saying that's incorrect? Do you know ? You can spin it any way you like, the numbers aren't good in regard to viewing figures and definitely not what Disney Execs would have been expecting. The spin off was part of the deal, it was always getting made, so that is no indication to future seasons ofvthe show.
@@Farsight-nc1ib "Fact is, no one knows if it's coming back, it's been so badly received"
No one knows whether it's been badly received.
This is the full quote:
“I mean, no, to be honest - I'm very proud of it!
The BBC are running around like mad things.”
So now that we’re all on the same page, and we know exactly what the quote was, this is Russell saying that for the BBC all the targets that they wanted to reach have been hit. ie it reached all their expectations.
