  • @sergiodelatejaytejeda

They have a formidable innate talent, each one of them.
Innate but with practice taken to the sublime.
Despite their youth, they already have a lot of experience along the way in addition to their great preparation since they were little girls.
Their attitude, discipline and willingness to achieve their goals are leading them to great and well-deserved achievements.
Daniela, Paulina and Alejandra are still on the path to the top, but with too much potential, enough to think that reaching it will be inevitable.
Furthermore, the volume of quality that each of their creations implies is great… and the number of songs that carry said quality is enormous, which for me could be “The Warning label.”
I’m sure that each of their creations is subjected to a meticulous quality process before finally seeing the light…
And not only in the technical aspect, but they have also already shown that they have an exquisite taste for the good music that emanates from them when they become inspired and creative.
Added to all this is that they are surrounded by an excellent family and a fraternal team totally committed to their project...
And they have a fan base, “The Warning Army”, tremendously loyal to them (and exponentially growing too) that is decisively involved in supporting them because they have deservedly earned it for being incredible and surprising human beings.
Knowing this will give you a much better perspective to better value DPA, and maybe you will understand that TW is not just a band of talented young women who make good songs...
No, it’s about music, really about art with the brilliance of a "masterpiece" created and performed by three genius female performers from an early age who have been developing and evolving by leaps and bounds.
The beauty of their art lies in its simplicity.
Allways everybody have to appreciate each of these amazing rock masterpieces in all their dimensions and then be surprised again that they are creations of those who have wonderful talent but who, due to their age, still have much more talent to develop.
Dany, Pau & Ale are already admirable but their potential increases exponentially as they achieve success.
As long as all this continues to flow with this equation, soon they will reach the top of the world where they deserve to be.
I hope to see many reactions from you to TW my favorite band of all time.
    Thanks and regards!!

    *Disciple*
*Disciple* is one of their songs about social media and how it affects people in ways they don't even know...
Dany (guitar) sings the part of the "leader"... Pau (drums) sings the part of a "follower", "disciple", or maybe "soldier"... basically they're speaking about how people take what they see on social media and believe it, whatever it is... in this way, certain groups out there control the narrative and what is happening... i believe this is a cynical song telling people to think for themselves and not believe everything they see or hear...
the OMV for *Disciple* was shot during the pandemic, all the extras in the video are IRL The Warning Army members... the wearing of the various masks works for the video as well as acknowledging the pandemic being a thing at the time of recording the video... there is the dichotomy of the masks, themselves... the "disciples/soldiers" wearing just cloth mouth and nose masks while the higher ranked overseers are wearing full face filter masks... and then we have DPA/TW playing the upper echelon, the untouchables, with no masks at all... this ranked depiction of status makes a huge statement about social media in addition to what is already being said in the song...
*XXI Century Blood* , *Z* , and *Kool-Aid Kids* are three other original DPA/TW songs that also speak about social media... the 1st one, XXICB, has an OMV that tells a story... it and the director were nominated for (and won?) several awards when it was released in 2017 when Dany was 17, Pau was 15, and Ale was 12 😹

The Warning are a well-oiled family machine. This was a multi-track live recording, mixed separately from the house P.A. specifically for the video. They have a LOT of audio expertise (Dad used to run a recording studio. He's a civil engineer. They also have another sound guy, Lalo, who mixes sound for them both live and in post. This was recorded with many cameras, hence all the quick cuts featuring all the band members from multiple angles. The entire concert of 22 songs, performed at 7300' above sea level in rarefied air, is worth watching in one sitting on a big screen with a surround sound system cranked up to window-rattling, wife-scaring levels. Oh, and you need their lyrics from their website on your smartphone, so you can appreciate the songs to the fullest. They really write meaningful songs. Why these kids haven't broken through in the mainstream yet is beyond me. They're better than most of the pseudo musicians out there today.

The Warning is a once in a generation phenomenon. I flew down from Portland Oregon with my daughter to see them live over 2 months ago in Tijuana where they started with Disciple. Ale’s bass kicked me in the chest and knocked me over, then Pau beat me over the head with her drums and then Dany finished me off by slaying me with her guitar and vocals. TW have said they purposely put ambiguity in their songs to give the listener the chance to come up with their own interpretation. That being said, this song is a warning about false ideologies on social media. It is a conversation between Dany who is doing the warning and Pau who is trying to succumb to the ideologies. "The sun is your enemy today" is about the fact that in the light of the day the ideologies are exposed as false. Pay sings "the sun is my enemy today." One side warns and the other side wants to tear down society to get their false ideology triumphant. One of the best recorded concerts ever. Lalo Plaza was the sound engineer; Beto Ramos (Pau's drum coach) mixed the audio; Ivan Chavez (the band's videographer) shot and edited the video.

This song is about how social media controls us with fabricated info. Pau, the drummer, got inspired about the main riff in a Canadian supermarket in 2019. She came home, composed the 1st draft on her piano including the bass intro and called her sisters. They were 19, 17 & 14 then.
That is why Dany, guitarist, starts the song as an antagonist with "The sun is YOUR enemy today" while Pau picks it up as a disciple in the 2nd verse with "The sun is MY enemy today". The sisters trade off lead vocals as demanded by the script. You can make out the difference in their vocal textures. Ale, the bassist, mainly harmonizes in the lower frequencies with infrequent falsettos as required by a song.
The Warning are masters in composing in minor scales. Quite often they introduce a full sequence of major chords for the same verse to break the monotony. And that downward bend in vocals here is typically The Warning with this progression G Bb E A G#m . I mean G & G#m in the same sequence - incredible!!!
Among their 3 full albums & 2 EPs the girls have published a concept album in 2018 called Queen of the Murder Scene where they have mused over unrequited love, death, self harm, suicide & lunacy. Pau was in middle school going through her emo phase when she tabled the 1st draft in front of her sisters. Just to keep it in context, five decades back Roger Waters dealt with death, lunacy & depression in The Dark Side of the Moon.
Dive into their rabbit hole that stretches back more than a decade to when they were playing classical piano as 6-8 year olds. Its all on YT. They have practically grown up on social media. After watching your reaction I am confident that you won't be disappointed.

Disciple is a warning about what you sign up for, that theme is woven throughout : "Oh oh I've been waiting, disciple in the making...kill the system kill the man, strip the power from their hands, _your eyes will bleed as you stare at the screen, you shall remain Inside your space"._ The song starts with "The sun is your enemy today" later, she sings "The sun is my enemy today...swimming with the fishes 'til they drown....hate will always be a good friend when the sun goes down....Oh, oh, oh, nonbelievers start running ." They are being witty about _The Warning,_ Error is another song that is, a warning. They're stories being told from the perspective of the baddies, the song Kool Aid Kids is another example, similar in theme to Disciple. Watch the music vid for Disciple!.

A big part of why they sound so amazing live, is their crew. A live band is like and iceberg, you only see the three of them, but they have a big team of techs that does an outstanding job on the road. It's one of the many reasons they are so successful. One of the reasons they got to do the Europe tour with Muse, was they were not only impressed with the band, they were impressed with the whole team. Many supporting acts need a lot of hand-holding. Muse had little idea what they were getting into when they had The Warning open for them in Mexico, but The Warning themselves go hard obviously, and the whole team is competent and professional.

Check out Kool Aid Kids for their most political song. The Teatro Metro live version is great, but the lyrics - some of their best - are key. Political, but also apolitical as they don't reveal their actual stance, and instead they seem to speak to the extremes. Both sides can relate to the lyrics - and while most will simply point their finger at the other side - hopefully some will take it as an opportunity to reflect on their own side a well.

    5. It's a Spector NS5-XL, made custom to Ale's requirements. Absolutely effin gorgeous bass and sounds monstrous.

The Warning write all their songs with the intent of the listener to take from the lyrics the meaning they want/need.

The band mostly makes social commentary about their peers in Generation-Z and what concerns them (or should concern them). Their first album was titled "XXI Century Blood" to indicate they are the new blood of the 21st century (They were born in 2000,02,04).
I'm not sure of the exact meaning of Dany (as an an unspecified leader) singing "The sky is your enemy today" but to me it's equivalent to the generic "Can't you see the sky is green!" comment that indicates someone is BSing you. Pau (as a Gen-Z follower) later replies "The sky is my enemy today" to indicate she has bought into the BS, just like "Yes, the sky is green!"

Nice Reaction! In Oct. 2023 they celebrated 10 yrs. as a band with 3 concerts in Mexico. They did a cover of Enter Sandman in 2014 that went viral (25M views), were invited on to The Ellen Show, who got Target to donate money to send them to the Berklee College of Music in 2015. They were independant until right before the pandemic when they signed with Lava Records. During the pandemic they recorded their 3rd Album called Error, which the song Disciple is from.

I have seen them 3 times so far, and they have NEVER disappointed. All of their shows were a great time. Now, onto their social observations. To understand 21st Century Blood you need to watch the TED talk where they speak about the making of that record. They have spoken a bit on the writing of certain songs and their views on today...try watching "Z". It is their commentary on Millennials. I would definitely say from their writing that they are wary of the influence of too much social media. Not bad advice at all. Their writing is mature beyond their years.
